My wife and I have been going to Lexington Vet Associates for the past 15 years. Each doctor and all the staff (Steve, Sarah, Wendy etc.) have been so very helpful and so very compassionate when dealing with us and our beloved furry-family members. In particular, we see Dr. Read. He has been extremely kind to our pets over the years, and very gentle with them and us when we've had to make the difficult decisions to let them go. Recently, we had to have our beloved family dog, Abbie, put to sleep due to various old-age related issues. It was a trying decision but Dr. Read's compassionate nature helped us through the process. Our other pets (dogs and cats) have been and are patients of Dr. Read's, and he always does a thorough job examining them, takes his time answering our questions, and in general, possesses the kind of demeanor you want in a vet. Also, our adult children bring their pets to Lexington Vet Associates because of the experiences they had when bringing the family pets there as youngsters. In our opinion, you can't possibly find a more knowledgeable or more compassionate group of people. You won't go wrong with bringing your furry-family members to this wonderful vet! Read Less

We would highly recommend Lexington Veterinary Associates. We switched vets because our previous vet could not figure out why our dog was having a lameness problem with his front legs. After ruling out anything more serious, Dr. Read was able to point us in the right direction and help us think outside the box as to how our dog was possibly causing his lameness. Bingo, once we figured out what the dog was doing, we were able to fix the problem and our dog is now very healthy and happy! We are SOOoooo happy we switched and plan on staying with them! Dr. Read was able to figure out what was going on with my Havanese. He had been having a hard time with walking and was alternating limping on his front paws. My previous vet really had no answers. Then we switched to Dr. Read's group and after doing some testing, suggested we think outside of the box as it were about our pooch's behavior since Dr. Read noticed our dog pronates a bit on his front paws. We discovered that our dog was injuring himself by squishing under these roll out baby gates that we use for our baby and once we stopped using the gates within a short amount of time, our dog got better. That was a year ago and he's perfectly fine now. I don't think we would of figured it out if Dr. Read did not have us think unconventionally. Great Vet! I have been taking my many dogs to Dr. Read for more than two decades, and have been extremely pleased with the care they have received. Dr. Read has extensive experience and medical knowledge and stays current with latest procedures and technology. He is compassionate, kind, an excellent diagnostician and many times has offered options in an attempt to conserve my funds. Over the years, he has cured many illnesses and has successfully performed multiple surgeries on my various dogs for fatty tumors, kidney stones, cysts, spaying, neutering, dental, etc. He also has treated a couple of chronic illnesses. My cat had been suffering and unfortunately had to be put to sleep today. I brought him in to Dr. Read for the Euthanasia because of all the positive reviews I read on here. I was very sad (obviously) and asked a couple of questions about my cats condition. Dr. Read was very cold and got annoyed at my questions! He RUSHED me through the process of saying goodbye to my kitty that I've had for 13 years, and got super annoyed when I asked if I can at least have a couple minutes with my vat between the anesthesia and the injection to put him down. I've honestly never ever come across a vet with such a lack of compassion, and an attitude like he had. I was shocked to be honest that a vet can be so disrespectful at such a sensitive time when I'm standing there in tears. The only reason that I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because I like that they use the Gas (Nitris I believe) Sedative instead of an Anesthetic via needle, because my kitty hated needles. Other than that, I would definitely NOT recommend this vet. Read Less

Dr Read is an excellent veterinarian. We found him after visiting several vets and were anxious to find one that was good. It was obvious from the moment we met him that he knew what he was doing and what's more our kitties love him too. Before he examines them, he puts them on his lap first and pets them. He's also very knowledgeable in his field. One of the things important for us is that he explains what's being done and why and doesn't mind the 1001 questions we ask every time from vaccinations to diet to any other medical issue. Thanks to him and everyone else at the clinic, our cats are happy and healthy and we are doing everything they recommend to keep them that way. His clinic is run very professionally and is equipped with the latest medical technology. This clinic was recommended to us by an humane animal shelter. We feel thankful that they are there to take care of our little family members when needed.

Read Less

I was new to the area when my dog became very ill. My neighbor recommended Lex. Vets and I am so glad she did. Dr. Cox was genuinely concerned about my dog. He did a very careful and thorough exam and spent a lot of time asking me questions and then explaining treatment options. He called me at home several times to check on my dog's progress.
