I have been a client of dr sohn for almost 8 years now . My dogs & my cats he is very straight forward and does not beat around the bush and i respect him for it ! I had been taking our pets to MAH since 1989.  While on vacation (1,500 miles away from home and due back home within 1-week) my dog became very itchy and scratching non-stop. Benadryll didn't help.  I phoned MAH and had explained to them that she was scratching to the point that she was whining.  MAH took the info and said that they will call me back.  They did call me back but said that they cannot prescribe anything for her because it had been 4-months since they had seen her last and to bring her in when we return home.  Seriously, 4-months since she had been seen last???  Give me a break.  To end my poor dog's misery, I took her to a vet in the area we were staying and they prescribed something stronger then Benadryll for her itch.  The next a.m. she was almost back to normal.  After 28 faithful years with MAH, I am sorry to say that I will never, ever bring my pets back to them.  They did not show any pity or compassion for my dog, nor did they not recommend any other form of relief for her.  The vet we took her to followed up with a how is she doing phone call (very professional!!!)  I never received a follow-up call from MAH.  In the interim, I have found another vet and to boot, they are much cheaper and more professional. Not happy with this place at all. We took our puppy to this clinic per the recommendation of our breeder. At the very first appointment it was evident that this place had horrible customer service. The Vet is one of the rudest, most impersonal people I've ever met. We brought our puppy there from the time she was 8 weeks old until she was 5 months. He did not ask any questions about the care she was getting at home, what/how often she was eating, how familiar we were with the breed, or if we had even been previous dog owners. He did not greet us in a friendly manner, nor did he make the puppy feel comfortable. Every exam was exactly the same - No questions asked, just a quick look and feel of the puppy and sent us on our way. We had to be the ones to request vaccines for Lepto, Rabies, and Lyme on our own. The only reason we stayed for the 3 months is because we had already scheduled her to be spayed. I think of a Vet the same as a PCP. I expect my doctor to care and inquire about my health, give me advice, encourage me to improve upon my health, and have an actual interest in me. My dog should be treated the same by her Vet. I did not feel we got any of this and it was quite disappointing. I have no problem paying the high costs these Vets charge to ensure my dog is healthy, but I refuse to tolerate a Vet who acts like he'd rather be elsewhere. Read Less

Be sure to check the Yelp reviews before you assume these are accurate. This place is, in my opinion, a ripoff. We asked for my dogs records this morning, and they refused to give them without him having an exam, tests and shots. They just called saying he has Lyme and Antiplasma. Apparently, the treatment for the second is the same as the first but there is no further treatment for the antiplasma. I asked why we should do the other tests if the treatment was the same. Once I said it didn't make sense to do further tests, they refused to treat my boy. Its all about money not caring for the patient. By the way, the last time I took him, they recommended tests and surgery of almost $15K. I searched online and found that the other option was crate rest for 8 weeks. I just want to know how long they are going to let "Dr." Sohn ruin this place. Mansfield is a great upcoming town and there needs to be another vet. in town asap! Dr. Sohn is rude, ignorant and lacks any sort of people skills whatsoever. Basically is a cruel, self indulgent person. When faced with a dying pet, he tells you not to cry because you'll scare the other customers away. I believe HE SCARES THEM AWAY! Just read the reviews here folks. Please take your pet elsewhere. They took my cat once to another room, said they gave her all her shots and ear medicine and took her bp and did the exam and blood work.. All without me there to witness. Then they gave me this outrageous bill. A few weeks later I called to find out results of blood work and to find out where/ when I could pick up her proof of rabies vaccine... they said blood was never taken and they never gave her a rabies shot. Yet, it was all on the large bill that I paid. These people are scam artists and the Doctor is just a miserable person. If you want a cold, mean person that doesn't explain anything about your pets health and leaves the room And makes you wait there without knowing if the visit is done or not, Dr. Sohn is your man!! Oh and he doesn't even know what doses or meds to give your pet. I had to guess. Even staff was rude and humors to the "doctor". I'd give this place negative stars if the rating let me. I live in North Attleboro so it takes about 30 minutes to drive to Mansfield Animal Hospital; it is well worth it. The doctors and staff are exceptional. This week, my Misty had dental work done and was also treated for a UTI. Everyone was so kind and thoughtful. She is recovering wonderfully and is her old self after just a day or so. We have been taking our dogs to Mansfield Animal Hospital for several years. The staff is very friendly and provides wonderful customer service. I am always able to get my dogs in quickly and there is little wait time. Dr. Soan is a knowledgeable vet but isn't the friendliest...we stay due to the location and the treatment of the animals which is top priority but it would CERTAINLY be a better experience if the vet was warmer with the people and not just the animals. I have 4 dogs and I live on Cape Cod,all the way in Provincetown and bring my dogs to Dr. Sohn for their veterinary care. I have been bringing my 4 year old cat Valentine to Dr. Sohn since April 2013. Not only is he so close to my home and I'm thankful he's local, but he is such a wonderful Veterinarian that goes above and beyond of caring and treatment when needed. I travel over a half hour to take my dogs here (even though there are multiple options within my town). The Veterinary Technicians are amazing and help ensure the doctor has all the information needed prior to any exam. My dogs actually LOVE going to the vet (which has never been my experience) and they love to see the staff. The doctor(s) make all treatment options easy to understand and don't make me feel pressured to do more than I am comfortable... Mansfield Animal Hospital is a great place to take your furry friends. Dr. Sohn and his staff are very kind and compassionate. They've been my vet for nearly 9 years, and have always provided exceptional service to me and my family. Even through the most difficult time of dealing with a serious illness with my dog and going through the grief of having to make a tough decision when my dog's quality of life wasn't what it should be. They cried with me, and made me feel appreciated and part of the family. I have since adopted another dog that they have taken great care of too. This happened quite a while ago, I hope they have gotten better. I Would never go back. This was not my regular vet, mine was not open so I could not take him there. I went in with my 12yo dog that had a stroke. They tried to tell me that he had a back injury not a stroke. Gave me prednizone (which would work either way). They were rude to me the whole time and the staff at the desk bad mouthed my vet and told me I needed to start coming to them. Thank you but no I was very happy with my vet. Guess what...it was a stroke. I saw him during and even though I am no vet tech a dog with neurological issues in his front end,ie ear droop uncoordinated front feet show that it is an issue happening before the spine mid back. A year ago, my sister's dog, Skoochie who lives in Florida was ill and she took her dog several times to her vet and had no idea what was going on. I had my sister phone Dr. Sohn and had her vet send xrays over to Mansfield Animal Hospital. Dr. Sohn diagnosed Skoochie immediately based on the xrays and symptoms. I brought Skoochie up from Florida and I can honestly say, that Dr. Sohn saved Skoochie's life. She was diagnosed with Cushing's disease and has been doing extremely well with her medication. Dr Sohn is a disgrace to the veterinarian profession. He entered the room gave a vaccine and left without a word. As he was exiting the room, I asked are we finished and he rudely mumbled something. I had to check with the receptionist to make sure the visit was finished. The appointment was about 4 minutes and cost $80.00. He didn’t introduce himself, smile, or consult. As a matter of fact he didn’t do anything! As I was leaving I saw him through his office window reading a newspaper. He should be ashamed of himself for being a miserable swindler! A sick visit appointment was readily available. Once there, Dr Sohn and his staff were unable to properly restrain my dog for a painful procedure to his ear, and therefore unable to complete it. The Dr all but threw my dog back at me, and tersely stated, "He keeps shaking, I wasn't holding the needle, my tech wasn't holding the needle, I don't know where it is, and i cannot do this", and then berated me for me pet having an recurrent ear infection! Upon returning to the back room, I heard him state to his staff "Are we having fun yet?" They answered "No." The fee for unsuccessful, unprofessional and abusive treatment to my pet and myself was $170. In short, I wouldn't bring my dog there! Read Less

When Dr. Sohn diagnosed my dog with cancer I asked ""How long will she live?"" His response a shoulder shrug, ""I don't know a day, a week a year."" And then he left the exam room!!!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? When the difficult decision had to be made to euthanize her I drove a hour to my friends vet in Rehoboth where Dr. Bruzzi sat on the floor with me and my dog while she crossed over. I agree with others who give this vet a low rating. I recently relocated to the area and took my 4 year old very friendly lab there to get established with a local vet. The front office people are OK, but Dr. Sohn has NO bedside manner whatsoever and I seriously question his expertise. He is curt and sour. He treated my dog and my questions about lyme disease and west nile virus like major annoyances. Thank Godness there was nothing wrong with my dog because I fear that if there were, he would not have the expertise to help her. He is the type of vet I run away from very fast. I will never go back and encourage others to find a vet that has been trained in the 21st century. His fees are excessive--I paid $60 for him to listen to my dog's heart beat and tell me she is healthy!1 FInally, their waiting area is too small for dogs that weigh more than 40 lbs. Stay away!! Before my dog died last year (of old age) we took to Dr. Sohn. Dr. Sohn did everything from neuter him to take care of him when he managed to bite his own tongue in a bark-off with another dog. We never had a problem getting proper care or medication and Dr. Sohn was alawys very straightforward with us. It was obvious to me that this vet was the only game in town - they were completely unhelpful and rude when treating my cat. She has a seizure disorder, and Dr. Sohn acted as though her exams were an annoyance. He was not knowledgeable about phenobarbital dosing and I actually had to determine her best dose myself. When I finally took the cat to Tufts Vet Clinic in Walpole, the doctor there was kind and friendly, gave me all of the background about nonspecific seizure disorders and a variety of treatment options to choose from. My daughter and I have been breeders of Pomeranians for several years and have been a client of Dr. Sohn for about 4 years. The knowledge he and his staff have of Toy breeds exceeds my dealings with other Animal Hospitals. They are very direct with their treatments and will refer you to a larger facility if needed. Dr. Sohn has done 5, C-sections over the years when the deliveries have run into trouble. Thus saving puppies when I might have lost them. I was refered to him by other Breeders and they were 100% right when they said he and his staff are the best in the area. I travel an hour to get there when there are others closer because of the friendly feeling I get from the staff and the doctors. I have found that if you have a problem with a pet and you call the staff will evaluate the problem and get you in to see the doctor as soon as possible. They have the medications at the hospital or can get them for you in about a day. The concern of Dr. Sohn and his staff is first your pet and then you. They will answer all of your questions or if they have to research the answer they will call you shortly with the answer. Its like going to your own doctor if you don't understand what they are saying ask them to explain it in terms that you can understand. We recommend the Mansfield Animal Hospital very highly for both Breeders and family pets. Read Less

I used to bring all my animals to this vet, but then my cat got Renal Disease and they sent me back and forth from them to a emergency hospital. I paid $1200.00 at the Empergency hosptial because they told me they didnt have the proper equipment to treat her for the under the skin treatment and ultrasounds. After that I bring her in for a check up and they just take her after leaving me in the waiting room for 25 minutes and then take her again and leave me there for another 25 minutes, then come back with her and dont tell me anything. I say does she need more fluids and the girl just looks at me and says ""do you want more"" and I am like I dunno do I need more , your the doctor not me and you just saw her for 25 minutes. She knew nothing and just gave me more fluids for her. Then I get up to the counter and it was another $130.00 for all this stuff that I didnt even see them do and they didnt even tell me about it. Then the next day they call and the girl is rude, not at all helpful, and says oh she needs her pressure checked and we didnt check it for some reason. But here is the great part, They do not have the proper equipment to test her b-pressure so I would have to go back to the emergency hospital and then come back with her results. So I asked her...What services do you offer? You say your a animal hospital yet you offer NOTHING! So I spoke with some good friends of mine and they referred me to the Raynham Animal Hospital and they are fantastic.They tell me everything she needs,how much it costs up front, for how long it needs to be done, why I need to do it, and how she will be feeling, and they even have all the PROPER EQUIPMENT.I would never bring my animal mansfield again.I would recommend their Kozy Kennel because the people down back are fantastic, but I would not recommend their vet services because they have no clue what they are doing and they just charge you and take your money.That is all they are good for.See for yourself.
