15 days ago my wife and I dropped off our spunky, full of vigor, absolute sweetheart of a kitten Dante for his neuter and abdominal hernia repair. We dropped him off and waited for the pick up call. Upon picking Dante up, the vet told us they were concerned about a clotting issue on the neuter site, but never suggested over night observation. We brought Dante home and took care of him until the next morning when we brought him for his check up. When we went into the vet they took him out back to check him out and I heard 2 or 3 voices sounding shocked at how the neuter site looked less than 24 after surgery. They 'fixed him up' and sent us home again, this time with a cone and directions to keep him 'under quarantine. They told us to spray the neuter site with hydrogen peroxide and to compress the area. We brought Dante back home and set him up in our bathroom and followed their 'care instructions'. Dante's neuter site never clotted and started to heal. Every time a clot would form, it would rip off and cause him to continue to slowly bleed. He wasn't using the litterbox or eating or drinking. His gums were turning white. When we called the vet they didn't seem too worried. We continued to watch him and care for him. We noticed he was starting to get very weak and slightly lethargic on Friday, so we went back to the vet. We got there and the vet looked at him and started she was really concerned. She took him out back and did a few tests, put a clotting medicine on his neuter area, put a diaper on him, and told us we should go to Buzzards Bay Animal Hospital because the vet thought we needed to get him a blood transfusion. So we went. They looked at him, did some tests, made recommendations. Unfortunately we were not able to get the transfusion due to finances and that they dont do payment plans. They tried to get is to surrender Dante, but we refused. We took him back home again. Saturday morning I got up and he had lost function of his legs. I knew he was leaving us very soon. I got his cone off, brought him to my bed, and cuddled with him. About 2 hours later he let out a horribly scared and in pain meow, had a couple minor seizures, and passed away in my arms. I am very displeased with Marion Animal Hospital's lack of pro activity , their level of professionalism, and how they made me feel our fur baby was not important. He went in full of life and spunk on Tuesday Nov, 13. 4 days almost to the hour of original drop off, Dante had died in my arms. I watched the life slowly fade as our kitten slowly bled to death while the professionals made no effort to find the cause of his bleeding. I truly feel that if they had been more pro active that Dante would still be with us and back to the sweet, energetic, loving, snugglebug that he always was. Read Less
