Having gone to Compassion Vet since my childhood dog 20 years ago, I have always felt comfortable approaching their doors with any animal I brought in. Their location was convenient and they always took my phone calls and scheduled me in when needed. The staff has always been somewhat cordial and my current dogs picture as a baby has been on the wall for 4 years now. It is important to find a vet that you trust since having an animal is a lot different than children- they cannot speak and tell us just how crappy they are feeling. My past two experiences with them have been very unfortunate and I came to a very upsetting point where I was forced to say enough was enough. Every business makes mistakes and it is unfair for a consumer to judge off one experience. Now, when that mistake has now repeated itself with zero empathy or compassion (ironic is it ) I have to do something, don't I? I have the obligation as the owner of my pet to stand up and be her advocate for her well being - as well as make you all aware of what they are doing. I go there often to get my dogs nails trimmed, glands expressed and get heart guard treats almost every month because I enjoy the trip. Out of these visits that require whoever is working with me at that moment to open my file to collect money for these services, must see what is going on with my dog. Yet, they have failed to inform me that my dogs vaccinations have now been missed *TWICE*. The first time was I thought minor where her heart guard testing was overdue and they couldn't give me my heart guard that month without doing it. They also mentioned she should not have received it last month either since she was that overdue, yet no one informed me (like I mentioned I am there every month) So I had to leave and make an emergency appointment so she could get the treat on time. I was frustrated but knew that this mistake was a fluke since it has never happened before. Now, the second time I had a scare with a tick encounter and realized this could get dangerous the way they are handling things. I foolishly did not Flea and Tick my dog in time and I was scared from the potential harm the tick I pulled off her could do. I knew she was Lyme vaccinated and with the shred of hope I had left, prayed this would be enough protection. As I called them to ask their advice, what to do, how to handle it, they checked my file to help answer my questions. They then uttered something that immediately made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up ... "Your dog has been out of date of her Lyme vaccination since November" (it is now April). As I mentioned .. I am there almost every month for SOMETHING. The same file they check every time I am there has just now appeared that she is overdue AGAIN for something? Any time within these past 5 months NOONE COULD TELL ME THIS?! The heart guard incident just happened a month ago, there was no way for them to also inform me about the Lyme vaccination? Sitting here kicking myself "why didn't I ask about her Lyme vaccination". I then remembered that their exact job is just that - to protect and inform me when my animals need treatment, just like a doctor does, and they failed. At this point - in tears - I expressed how disappointed I was and they offered to give me a weeks' worth of antibiotics to help ease my worries and for their oversight. I was still upset but appreciated that they tried to help the situation. Unfortunately, when going to pick up the medication, they asked me to hand over the money for it and that was my last straw. Immediately called another vet to transfer her records and once the secretary at Compassion did the task - he merely asked me to leave the office so he could delete me out of the system permanently. From the years I have been going there, me and my dog have never felt so worthless - like we didn't matter. If you want to be sure your animal's vaccinations are taken care of so you do not have to worry about them all the time - I suggest you give your thousands of dollars elsewhere. The second I called Southboro Vet I felt very taken care of and they are having a special right now where the first health check is free! Read Less
