I have a couple of cats who must have been feral when they were put up for adoption as kittens. They are both not lap cats, and neither have been to the vet in a while because I couldn't catch them! Recently, we hired a cat sitter who wanted copies of our cats' rabies certificates. I had two of three, so that meant finding a vet who would come to my house and do the honors for Pippin, the most paranoid one. It all went without a hitch, and Pippin seems none the worse for wear. Dr. Patil and his nurse were efficient and patient, just as the clinic's name implies. Read Less

Love this place. Location is pretty convenient. Friendly staff, and you can typically get an appointment in a few days. The vet was very thorough during my first check up with my newly adopted cat, he explained everything he was doing and I felt very comfortable with my cat in his care. Vet techs are also great here. I went in recently to just get my cat's nail trimmed after work on a Tuesday and there was barely any wait time and I was out shortly after that. Prices for everything are pretty reasonable. I definitely recommend them! Read Less

Having gone to Compassion Vet since my childhood dog 20 years ago, I have always felt comfortable approaching their doors with any animal I brought in.  Their location was convenient and they always took my phone calls and scheduled me in when needed.  The staff has always been somewhat cordial and my current dogs picture as a baby has been on the wall for 4 years now.  It is important to find a vet that you trust since having an animal is a lot different than children- they cannot speak and tell us just how crappy they are feeling.  My past two experiences with them have been very unfortunate and I came to a very upsetting point where I was forced to say enough was enough.  Every business makes mistakes and it is unfair for a consumer to judge off one experience.  Now, when that mistake has now repeated itself with zero empathy or compassion (ironic is it ) I have to do something, don't I?  I have the obligation as the owner of my pet to stand up and be her advocate for her well being - as well as make you all aware of what they are doing. I go there often to get my dogs nails trimmed, glands expressed and get heart guard treats almost every month because I enjoy the trip. Out of these visits that require whoever is working with me at that moment to open my file to collect money for these services, must see what is going on with my dog.  Yet, they have failed to inform me that my dogs vaccinations have now been missed *TWICE*.  The first time was I thought minor where her heart guard testing was overdue and they couldn't give me my heart guard that month without doing it.  They also mentioned she should not have received it last month either since she was that overdue, yet no one informed me (like I mentioned I am there every month)  So I had to leave and make an emergency appointment so she could get the treat on time.  I was frustrated but knew that this mistake was a fluke since it has never happened before. Now, the second time I had a scare with a tick encounter and realized this could get dangerous the way they are handling things.   I foolishly did not Flea and Tick my dog in time and I was scared from the potential harm the tick I pulled off her could do.   I knew she was Lyme vaccinated and with the shred of hope I had left, prayed this would be enough protection.  As I called them to ask their advice, what to do, how to handle it, they checked my file to help answer my questions.  They then uttered something that immediately made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up ... "Your dog has been out of date of her Lyme vaccination since November" (it is now April).  As I mentioned .. I am there almost every month for SOMETHING.  The same file they check every time I am there has just now appeared that she is overdue AGAIN for something?  Any time within these past 5 months NOONE COULD TELL ME THIS?! The heart guard incident just happened a month ago, there was no way for them to also inform me about the Lyme vaccination? Sitting here kicking myself "why didn't I ask about her Lyme vaccination".   I then remembered that their exact job is just that - to protect and inform me when my animals need treatment, just like a doctor does, and they failed.  At this point - in tears - I expressed how disappointed I was and they offered to give me a weeks' worth of antibiotics to help ease my worries and for their oversight.  I was still upset but appreciated that they tried to help the situation.  Unfortunately, when going to pick up the medication, they asked me to hand over the money for it and that was my last straw.  Immediately called another vet to transfer her records and once the secretary at Compassion did the task - he merely asked me to leave the office so he could delete me out of the system permanently. From the years I have been going there, me and my dog have never felt so worthless - like we didn't matter.  If you want to be sure your animal's vaccinations are taken care of so you do not have to worry about them all the time - I suggest you give your thousands of dollars elsewhere. The second I called Southboro Vet I felt very taken care of and they are having a special right now where the first health check is free! Read Less

Wonderful place and always there to answer the basic questions without having to charge for every little thing. My family and I love Compassion. My dog, Ciccia, has been a patient there her whole life, as they have always treated her more kindly than any other vet we’ve been to. She has anxiety issues which sometimes lead to nervous aggression, and they always take the time to introduce themselves and make her feel safe instead of just muzzling her, like other vets have done. That kind of kindness and patience really makes a difference. When my Mother’s cat, Lucy, was ailing, Dr. Wilson could not have been better. While sadly, Lucy was diagnosed with a terminal issue, Dr. Wilson was as kind and accommodating as can be. We were lucky to have such a caring vet to help us through that difficult time, and I know it made a big difference for my Mom. I highly recommend Compassion — I wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else. I recently switched from my vet In Hudsons to Compassion after being told about them by my neighbor. My first visit was actually in the middle of my dog being diagnosed and treated for pancreatitis and after my first visit my dog who for a week was really sick and apparently not being treated as vigorously as he should have been in Hudson.. however compassion took him under their care and treated him with numerous different medications and treated him for all his symptoms as well as the pancreatitis itself and no lie within 24-48 he was back eating playing and acting like himself again.. they were absolutely amazing to him as well as myself with getting an appt within 2 hours of my phone call getting my dogs records for me from the Hudson vet and I was only left to care for my pup and then get him to his appt with them... I absolutely LOVE ALL THE STAFF MEMBERS WHO I ENCOUNTERED SO FAR... their rates are a huge amount lower than my prior vet and I just felt 100% welcomed by them and snoopy was treated with the best care ever. The only negative part about it is that I wish I had switched a lot sooner than I did!!Read Less

I would not even give this place one star but you have to in order to write a review. I live In Marlboro and have been using Compassion for years! It's right down the street from where I live and it's convenient. I could not even tell you how much I have spent at this place.  I have two dogs and one cat! Hobo my cat is around 17 or maybe older we don't know! He was a feral cat that was just hanging around in my old neighborhood. We could never make him a indoor cat we tried but he would not have it!! It took a few years for us to be able to trust him and him us. He's not good with people he  doesn't know, and will hide when people come into the house. Hobo is an old man and it's his time to cross over the rainbow bridge I'm heartbroken. I called compassion last Wednesday to see if they made house calls to euthanize pets they said they did. I spoke to the receptionist Veronica!! I explained what was going on with Hobo and how I could not take him into the office he would freak out! I did not want his last breath to be in fear. Veronica tells me yes someone can come out to the house to put Hobo to sleep " but first he needs to be seen SEEN did she not understand what I was saying I CANT TAKE HIM INTO THE OFFICE!!! that's right they want one more office visit ,blood test etc... $$ before he dies to make more money from me! Then she goes and tells me that it's against the law for a vet to come to my house without the pet being seen first! She was very rude and not understanding at all. I ended up screaming at her and hung up because I was so upset. I made another call to a local vets office who could not be any more compassionate and understanding. They will come to my home and NO! he does not need to be seen first! The vet will see him when he comes to the house. And it's not against the law! So Veronica needs to stop lying to clients over the phone!!! Im done with this place and I will be getting my pets medical records and finding a new place to take my dogs. Also be careful about vaccines for little dogs Leptospirosis almost killed my little Pom. Read Less

Winnie is such a well behaved dog...until it's time to trim her nails, and then she turns into a tazmanian devil! They let me go in the room with her, which was wonderful because I could help keep her calm. They were also so gentle with her for the amount of thrashing and flailing around that she was doing! After a few minutes they got her to realize that it was ok and would be over sooner if she cooperated...she calmed down, they finished and she promptly forgave them when they gave her a treat. It was quick, easy, and cheap. We will definitely be back once Winnie's nails grow back, and we plan on making Compassion our regular Vet! Read Less

I cannot say enough positive things about Compassion Vet Clinic - I wish I could give them more than 5 stars! Only a few weeks after moving to Massachusetts, my 1-year old cat was vomiting bile and refusing food or water for several days. My partner and I are both students, so our budgets are very tight. We had no idea what to do, and we weren't even sure if he had eaten something that was stuck in his intestines or if he had a viral or bacterial infection. We took him to the closest vet and got poor service and vague, frightening estimates for "minimum of $2000 for surgery, if it goes quickly and the surgeon only makes one incision." We were almost ready to give up and put him down, but a call to Compassion Vet was our saving grace. The staff are all friendly, helpful, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. We were very upfront about our financial situation, and they gave us a quote far below what we were previously told a surgery of this kind would take. They admitted him on Friday and performed the surgery during their lunch break. He stayed overnight and has since fully healed. The veterinarians and staff at this clinic went above and beyond for us; they even counseled us over the phone regarding post-surgery care when we noticed our cat had stopped eating again. At our final follow-up visit, they even refunded us for products that we hadn't used. For as long as I'm in the area, I will absolutely be using them as my one and only vet clinic, and I highly recommend them to others in the area. Read Less

This place has always been good, able to accommodate me schedule wise and prompt for appointments. The point that they went above and beyond was when my kitten Stella got sick, they truly showed "compassion" and felt like they truly cared as if she was their own. It's never easy having an animal pass away. They didn't have to send flowers and a card and make follow up phone calls, but it is something that is rare these days and I will continue bringing my furry family to this location because of that. I have been taking my pets to Compassion Veterinary Clinic for nearly 10 years. Being involved with animal rescue, I currently have 9 cats and 3 dogs of varying ages, so I am the vet's office often. Dr. Patil and his staff are great with my animals and have been incredibly supportive and compassionate with me during difficult treatments and even the loss of a few of my pets. In the past year and a half, in addition to annual routine exams and vaccinations for all of my pets, they have successfully treated one of my rescue dogs who was heartworm positive and had digestive disorders, another who got into mouse poison while visiting a friend's house, and most recently helped one of my 15 year old cat survive pancreatitis and hepatic lipidosis. And, most recently, they helped my 18 year old cat cross the rainbow bridge after years of trouble with her kidneys and thyroid had finally gotten the best of her. Afterward, they even sent a sympathy card signed by the entire staff, as well as flowers. My one complaint would be about the costs of the office visits. While they are comparable or even better than many area vets, I feel that they could be reduced or waived in cases of repeated follow-up visits and/or vaccinations. When I lived in PA and FL, none of my vets charged a visit fee for vaccinations or follow-ups. And, when you have as many pets as I do, those fees can become excessive very quickly. Regardless of the costs, however, I feel that I can trust Compassion Vet Clinic with my pets health and well-being. And that trust has been well earned. Read Less

Their check ups aren't as expensive as other places, unlike what the other reviewer said. I went here for years but changed Vets because they hired new vets and every time I went in I would get a different vet now. No one gave me any instructions when my cat was sick and not eating. Because I had common sense I force fed my cat some food and water daily. 2-3 days AFTER I visited the vet because cat was sick 1 of their vets called and happen to tell me a cat needs 1/2 a can of food daily or could die! So my pet could have died 2-3 days earlier if I hadn't thought to force feed my cat myself! Also they hate online pharmacies. They would always give me a hard time every time I asked for my pet's prescription in writing so I could order through the mail from a nationally recognized US registered pet pharmacy (cheaper and more convenient for me). Heard owner vet brag to a new employee about how my cats had been going to him for years, yet he didn't treat me or my pets like family. I became just another client to them, even after seeing them yearly for almost a decade! Did not value me as a client. I only chose them years ago because they were the only local vet open on a Saturday when my cats were kittens and needed an immediate checkup after 2 of my kittens had died. Read Less

She made me have to keep saying not at this time, not now, Next time, I thought she would never get around to treating my pets. The second time my dog had been attacked and was badly hurt. I rushed her to this clinic. The Dr. said she couldn't treat her because she did not have a 24 hour facility and the dog needed 24 hour care. She kept talking and talking and talking while my poor dog stood there bleeding and bleeding and bleeding. I was trying to figure out what point she was trying to get to. At last it was obvious that there was no point. I took my dog and left. I took her to Tufts where she received excellent care. Read Less

They are nice at Compassion Veterinary, but expensive and charge you for EVERY little thing that they do for your pet. I brought my dog in for his annual checkup ($39 just to walk in the door) and came out with an almost $340 bill. After giving my dog all his routine shots, they charged me $10 just to clip his nails even though the vet said the length was okay. It only took them a minute to trim his nails and I could just as easily done it myself at home. I had no idea they were going to charge me for something so minuscule. Large breeds are a money making scheme for this vet. Our dog likes to swim and is prone to eye and ear infections. This vet will only provide a small amount of medication that will not cure the infection until a second office visit is scheduled and another round of medication is provided. Our dog suffered for months durning some years until the infection was fully cured. This veterinarian refuses to provide any prescription that could be filled at a canadian pharmacy for a third of what this vet charges. He also refuses to provide a maintenance dose of medication that could be kept on hand to treat an infection at the on set. Save yourself a small fortune and years of aggravation and avoid this vet. Our cat, Hunter, had adopted us about a year ago. We noticed that Hunter wasn't breathing right and took him to Dr. Patil for a checkup. Hunter was correctly diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia (i.e. a hole in his diaphragm). Although Hunter had his operation at Tufts Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Patil's team has done a great job taking care of Hunter since. Over the past year they have helped with post op checkups, vaccinations, puncture wound surgery due to animal fights, and de-worming. His staff has always been professional, competent and compassionate. Some fees may be slightly higher than average (most are covered by ASPCA Health Insurance). However, I don't mind paying any extra cost since I know Hunter is getting the best possible care from Dr. Patil and his team. Read Less

I have a vet clinic 5 minutes down the road from my house and i will drive an hour out of the way to go see these guys again! My dog is the kindest dog in the world, except when it comes to little things in my yard... Well my Doberman was outside one day just chillin in the sunlight and it saw something running around in my back yard... Raith got up and ran over to defend its territory... the squirrel cut up my dog's face and bite its paw, with its own death it brought my dog a lot of pain. I brought it over to Compassion and Dr. Patil fixed him up perfectly! His staff is unbelievable, they will help you with whatever you need and whatever question you may have no matter how silly it is... and unlike stupid friggin idiot petco they accept bully breeds....

Read Less

I have two dogs and they love the people at Compassion Veterinary.  Of course they charge for services and medications provided.  What vet doesn't?  If cost is a concern, you should discuss that up front.  I did not find that they charged any more or less than other vets.  The facility is clean, the administrative staff is friendly, and the vets and assistants are thorough and knowledgeable.  Appointment times are kept and they call with test results promptly.  Dr. Patil is my vet and he's very gentle, always happy to answer questions, and my dogs like him.  I'm very happy with Dr. Patil and his staff.  He has provided consistently good care and advice.I would recommend Compassion a Veterinary to others.  I went to them based on a positive recommendation from somebody as a matter of fact.

Read Less

We've been taking our pets to Compassion Veterinary Clinic for nearly two years now. We are so grateful for the support and the EXCELLENT care the clinic provides. We are ""regulars"" at the clinic, as one of our pets has a chronic illness. Sometimes I walk out of the clinic wondering how I could ever ""repay"" these good people for all they've done for us. They go above and beyond, again and again. And, as it is stressful for us to take care of our ailing pet, I can only admire these people who work with a multitude of sick animals day in, day out. It can only be one thing: COMPASSION! They?ve got it all right! Our animals are in the best of hands at Dr. Patil's clinic...and so are we! Read Less

I've been there 2 times. The first time I was told if I bring in my dog and cat at the same time the Dr could see them both and I would only be charged for one office visit. Both were in one exam room at the same time and guess what. I was charged for two office visits. The Dr loves to talk and kept pressuring me to get more services than I wanted.

It only took them a minute to trim his nails and I could just as easily done it myself at home. I had no idea they were going to charge me for something so minuscule. My dog had an ear infection so they charged me $19 to clean out his ears on top of the $14.50 for an 8oz bottle of ear cleanser and $33.05 for a 15g tube of ear ointment. In the future If you choose to use this vet make sure you ask him how much each thing costs before he does it. I won't be using them again. Read Less

Read Less

My cat got into a fight with something outside, got infected and after bringing her into the vet, the doctor told me she needed surgery to fix all the cuts on her back and tail and to drain all the infection. this healed wonderfully and unfortunatley to my suprise, a month later another fight, more cuts and another infection (i guess my cat is quite the bully outdoors) and because it had been such a short time since the last surgery, he gave me a really good deal on the second round! I love Dr. Patil and all his staff they have been so wonderful for my kitty and I could never imagine going anywhere else.
