Today was a really sad day for my wife and me. Our rescue greyhound, Raja (11) was starting to experience some decline in health. He was generally happy and not really in much pain but he had a rapidly spreading mass and generally failing health due to age. We had lived through the process before and watched a previous greyhound of ours deteriorate due to Kidney Failure brought on by Lyme disease. We held on too long with that dog, causing needless pain and suffering for all, especially the dog. Raja has been a patient of Dr. Coffman's for the last few years after we moved to the area (Berlin Animal Hospital), and he received outstanding care on each and every visit. We have always been seen quickly, treated well and with compassion. Today we went to the Marlboro office with Raja and had the incredible gift and pleasure of working with Dr. Patti. To say that she is the most extraordinary veterinary professional we have ever encountered would be an understatement. She heard our report on Raja's condition and symptoms. She sat with him, talked with him and talked with us. With Dr. Patti's insightful compassion and support, we made a very difficult decision to end Raja's life while he still had dignity, poise, and before any real pain could impact his quality of life. Every syllable out of Dr. Patti's mouth and that of the technician and staff was supportive and empathetic for us and for Raja. They all helped make Raja's last moments gentle, warm, and loving. While not my desire to make the reader's of this post sad, I want to say that if you are looking for the best pet and animal care in the Metro West area, then MAH is worth the drive. They are wonderful people to work with and your care will be second to none. Do yourself and your animal a favor, and go to the place that your loved ones would select themselves, if they had the ability to do so, in both sickness and in health. Read Less
