I have been using Mattapoisette Animal Hospital since I moved here a year ago. It was relatively good service until my second annual visit. My appointment was interrupted by a semi emergency, not a problem. But I was forgotten in the room for 40 minutes. When I stepped out, ask to finish, I could hear through the door the doctor forgot who was in the room. When Dr Gould he returned to the appointment, he apologized for forgetting. I was ushered out with a frustrating tone from myself and an awkward and a "silent treatment" from the staff. A few weeks later I got a "reminder card" confirming I should have received vaccines that were due 9 days from my appointment. When I called the office and spoke with Holly, who was very professional, to voice my concern and disappointment to the clinic supervisor for my poor care and lack of detail to patient and client care and service, I never heard back from them for a resolution. Very happy with Mattapoisett Animal Hospital. Costs are reasonable and the staff are great. Both doctors are wonderful. They don't try to sell you anything either which I experienced with my first vet. I have two indoor cats and it's awful trying to take them to the vet. Today I onlybrought one (the other is going in two weeks) and the staff were so understanding and good to my cat, Hank. Our last vet tried selling us special food that only they had because they said Hank was overweight. Neither doctor at MAH seemed particularly concerned about his weight and gave me suggestions if I was concerned. They commented on how handsome and how well behaved he was, and how he has great teeth, ears, good heartbeat, and good skin. The doctor even kissed Hank's head!! I have never been here before and I made an appointment because I needed to get my birds beak trimmed. On the day of the appointment I got a flat tire and I informed them that I might be about 30 minutes late to which they told me it's better off if I just reschedule for the next day -which would be fine except I had a double appointment for two birds and if you think one appointment is about 30 minutes long they should've had an hour with one of their doctors available for me (because I had booked an appointment anyway ) so even if I was a half hour late at least see one of the birds (one needs his beak trimmed he can barely eat) it's an incredibly stressful time for animals to be transported especially birds they're very small and they freak out and they're asking me to put them through this all again tomorrow- if you have the time to do one I don't understand why you wouldn't just let me continue and go there I wasted gas I wasted miles on my car and I wasted stress on my pets because of them. They did make mention there were a few other actual sick animals coming in which I don't mind them going first just take me whenever you can because I still had an appointment.  It's very disconcerting that I haven't even gone there yet and they're causing a lot of grief for my animals and for me, I was about an hour from my home when they told me to basically turn around and go home. And by the time I was off the phone with them I was practically at their front door anyway and they told me it wasn't worth it? Seriously. Well I have yet to receive actual veterinary help from these people the scheduling system there  is an inconvenience to both owners and animals and as someone who is looking to switch all my veterinary practices over to this hospital I don't know what I'm going to do after this experience. Wonderful care for your fur babies.  Dr. Gould and Dr. O'brian are the best.  The staff is great, the Hosptial is beautiful and clean.  I love that they offer acupuncture services as well as special prescription diets. Read Less

I will wish forever that I had brought my cat to a different vet. They sent him home with some anti-nausea pills told us to wait 2 days and completely missed that his insides were all messed up from eating some thread. A lot of thread. He deteriorated in those two days. He went to a different vet and then emergency surgery. He didn't make it, he was too weak by then. Only 5 years old.I'm giving them more than 1 star because I'm not going to yell at them that they killed my cat, that is unfair to professionals, these things happen even to people doctors. The people here were nice, I'm sure they've helped some people and their pets. I'll be going somewhere else though, hopefully they won't miss something like this again. We have tried all of the vets closer to home like Buzzards Bay, Marion Animal Hospital a and Dr. Johnson of Rt. 28 in Middleboro but from the first visit here, we will go nowhere else for our furry child. Brought my turtle in for weird behaviour, and the doctor checked her, said she was fine, and didn't need an x-ray, which I was ready to pay for. The vets are knowledgeable, very nice, and down to earth. Definitely come here if your pet's under the weather! Read Less

We recently lost our family Dog. It was abrupt and tragic, and we had no idea what to do. The local animal control officer made a call to the staff at the Mattapoisett Animal Hospital. The agreed without hesitation to remain at the facility even though they were closing in the next 15 minutes. They handled the entire ordeal with such grace and compassion. Explaining our options and walking us through the process. They cleaned him and prepped him so that our family could gather and grieve. They gave us all the time we needed. Never any indication that they needed to close up and go home. We will never go to Vet. If I could give more stars I would. Read Less

i had brought my little dwef hamster who had an accident with his foot stuck, i got his foot out and they squeezed me in that same day was only $55 to see him and about 7$ for both his medicines. The staff there is so friendly and wonderful the only problem i had was they misheard my name on the phone but thats not totally horrible overal a very good expierncence and quick. they also sell some cat and dog needs as well didn't really get a too good look they have other products for other animals too, i would definately recommend themRead Less

After a horrible experience at Marion Animal Hospital we found Dr. Gould and Dr. Obrien!! Love them both and their staff too!!! Joanne is the go to for everything!!!  We have a rescue pit bull who was never socialized - Joanne, Dr Obrien and crew all jumped in and got to know him!! I have brought my pets to Mattapoisett Animal Hospital for about 20 years. The expertise of Dr.Gould and Dr. O'Brien is superb! Just as important, they treat the animal and the owner with respect and compassion. My Baby lived to be 19 years old and this cat had quality of life until the end , thanks to the doctors and wonderful staff teaching me how to give fluid treatments and all her daily meds. I am very upset that on Saturday I went there with my dog Honey and was given meds for her. I called you this morning to inform me that you didn't give me enough meds for 7 days. you told me to give Honey a 1/2 a pill twice a day for 7 days so I should have received 14 half pills. I was charged for them but I only received 7 half pills. I live in Westport so I am not going to drive all the way to Mattapoisett to pick up pills I work until 5 and by the time I pick up my kids and get there you are already closed. So I asked the girl that I spoke to if she could mail it to me . She said yes but I would have to pay for shipping if it was my fault I would have no problem but it was not my fault so why do I have to pick up the cost. The girl told me she could call it in to the pharmacy but then I would have to pay for the pills again. When I asked her to just send it to me and because it was your error I should not be charged for shipping. she said she could do it and hung up the phone on me. What ever happened to customer service. I have been a customer there for over 15 years and this is how I am treated. I wasn't even allowed to talk to Doctor and was told you have no office manager. That is very rude. I am very very hurt at the way I was treated. This was not my fault so why am I being treated this way.Read Less

My Strider has been treated by the vets there since he was 9 weeks old. You will not find a more caring staff or vets than these people that serve the needs and wants of pets and their owners in the South Shore area. If I lived a hundred miles away, I would still bring my dog there for all his needs. We are lucky to have the Mattapoisett Animal Hospital and Staff that stand ready to serve our pets. :-) Read Less

I love, love, love the Mattapoisett Animal Hospital. Where should I start. I'm 60 years old and have been going there for 8 years. I have been to other vets that were good but Dr. Gould and Dr. O'Brien are both great! The hospital is the nicest that I've been in, attractive, comfortable and very clean. The staff is so nice to me and my dog and seem genuinely happy to be there. I have to travel a bit to get there but they are only a mile from 195 so it's easy. Not only do I love them but my lab pulls me into the building (they bribe him with treats). I've sent friends there and they all agree. If you are looking for a vet, look no further. Read Less
