The doctors, techs and admin staff at Chestnut Street Animal Hospital are beyond amazing! They make you feel as though your animal is so special and their only concern. I have even called them for advice when away on vacation and they have called back within minutes with a solution.  The doctors are very thorough yet also very conservative and will not order unnecessary tests to drive up costs.  My yellow lab Sammy LOVES going to the vet because they treat her so well! I'm so glad I found Dr. Kelsey. It's relatively hard to find a vet who is knowledgeable about rabbit care, and she knows her stuff.  My bunny has seen her a few times and each visit she does a very thorough exam, explaining everything as she goes. She takes the time to listen to your concerns and provide reassurance and education. I've never had to wait more than a few days to get in to see her. This office is wonderful. In a world of automation and a lack of customer service, this vet clinic stands out. They are kind, helpful, and trustworthy. I would take my elderly cat of 17 years regularly for checkups and they were great. When she suddenly died, they were compassionate and understanding. I even received an incredibly kind handwritten note from Dr. Kelsey herself. I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants the best for their pet! Read Less

We have used Chestnut Animal for a few years, and have always been pleased with the excellent care they have provided. Sadly we had to put our 10 year old standard poodle to sleep after an unexpected illness. Dr. Medley was thorough, kind, and caring. She guided us through the experience and gave our dog (and us) the best possible care. The support staff was also very compassionate. Our family has used Chestnut Street Animal Hospital for at least 18 years. They have taken care of the health needs of two of our very loved dogs. Our first one was a little female cocker spaniel. We had her 8 yrs and she suffered from an autoimmune disease so we had many visits there. She developed liver cancer and when it was time to say good by, as anyone who has been through this would tell you, it is heart wrenching. Dr. MEDLEY offered to come to our home so that our family could say good by to our beloved dog in her own bed. We will always be greatful for the compassion shown to our family. A few days later they sent a kind card of sympathy to us. They are the best! Read Less

I have been a client for about 10 years.  Recently I decided enough was enough it is time to change vets.   Don't get me wrong Dr.Kelsey and Dr. Medley are great so are most of the staff but there is always those few staff members that are so rude to clients that is isn't worth putting up with it anymore.  One of the techs who answers the phone could have killed my pet if I followed her advice.  I have called on a number of occasions for advice on behavior and wanted to bring them in.  She will tell me not to come in and give medical advice but never consults one of the doctors. I have gone to the emergency vet to many times for things my normal vet should be able to handle.  A place where you easily spend $500 for a 20 min visit ( most of that time waiting) I would expect kinder service.  And if you work in a vet office you probably should actually like animals.  I also call for vet advice not a tech/ admin to give advice.  The internet gives better information the. Dr. Kelsey is a horrible vet! I took my dog in to Chestnut Street Animal Hospital because he had injured his leg. Dr. Kelsey thought it was not an injury, but instead Lyme Disease. She charged us $52.50 for a test we didn't authorize. They didn't x-ray our dog until 2 in the afternoon, even though we dropped him off at 8 am because the didn't take us seriously. Finally after paying an additional $45 to have the x-rays read stat, at 4 pm we were told that the dog had in fact had a fractured tibia. They sent us over to Angell Memorial to have the dog splinted but only after I payed the bill. She also padded the bill with $70 for a physical exam we didn't ask for and $29.40 for half day hospitalization which wasn't needed if they did the x-ray when they should have!
