We have been using this veterinary clinic since we moved here in 2002, first for our German Shepherd (who passed away 3 yrs. ago at age 12-1/2) and now for our four little Cavaliers and 2 cats. Three of our dogs have special needs and we are there with one dog or another almost every month or two. When our GSD (who had inflammatory bowel disease) was alive, we were there almost weekly. Our most seriously ill dog wouldn't even be alive had they not referred us to a specialist right out of the gate. He became desperately ill at age 4 months from a previously undiagnosed congenital malformation and today, after two brain surgeries by a vet neurosurgeon, he is doing far better than we had any right to expect and is a healthy and loveable 5 year old.Dr. Grillo writes prescriptions for us to be able to get medications that are on Walmart's $4 list for our dog who has heart disease - you can get 3 months of medication on the list (she has three meds on the list) for $10. This is a huge savings. As for their fees for services, our experience is that he charges are very reasonable. When I moved here (from about 50 miles west of here), I was pleasantly surprised to find that their fees were far less than our previous vet charged for the same services. And they do what they can to minimize costs to pet owners with pets with chronic illnesses. When we have had to visit several times in the same month with the same dog for rechecks of a serious medical condition, they have often simply declined to charge us. We've never asked for special consideration, and they don't make a big deal about it - they just quietly tell us, this is on us today - have a good week.If I have one criticism it's that it takes so long to check out after your pet is seen. The doctor has to write his or her office notes, complete the chart, write out prescriptions, etc. before you can check out and it always seems to take forever. But when I've had an emergency and had to see someone who is not my regular vet, I've been grateful that they took the time to carefully document what they have seen and what worked and didn't, as it was clear to the covering doctor what has been happening with our pet. Most importantly, our dogs and cats are not afraid of going to the vet - in fact, one of our dogs insists on going along even when it isn't his turn to go! I think that says a lot. And for those who have a hard time getting convenient appointments, they now have evening appointments available - and these are "regular" appointments, no extra charge as they are not considered "after hours".
