Alternative Veterinary Services

North Andover, Massachusetts
General Info
Alternative Veterinary Services in North Andover provides life-stage veterinary care that adapts to each pet’s evolving needs by integrating age-specific insights with regional environmental factors throughout Massachusetts. The initial phase of appointments involves a detailed lifestyle and behavior report covering appetite changes, sleep patterns, social interactions, gait observations, activity levels, and emotional responses. Examinations involve oral checks weight tracking joint rotation temperature sensitivity and cardiac monitoring. Parallel tracking of spaying/neutering milestones alongside puberty markers and adult weight stability occurs with senior onset while addressing breed-specific and weather-related issues. The range of services offered by Alternative Veterinary Services includes diagnostic testing, essential and optional vaccinations, dental treatments, pain assessments, mobility guidance, nutritional counseling, and parasite management. The frequency and depth of services adjust according to age, mobility, and local climate factors which include responses to spring allergies and summer heat as well as winter inflammation assessments. Planning processes might involve developing specific schedules for adolescent development stages, adult health maintenance, or early geriatric pet interventions. Care logs along with follow-up goals and behavior-based pacing become available to owners. Families might monitor weight thresholds while adjusting recheck frequency during colder months and utilizing stress monitoring apps for aging animals. Busy households senior pets and multi-pet families with staggered timelines can access flexible scheduling along with remote follow-up options. Alternative Veterinary Services delivers reliable customized wellness plans to pet owners throughout North Andover and Massachusetts by considering their pets' age, activity levels, and seasonal factors.

I brought my cat Sheena to see Dr. David Lindsay when she would not eat. I found him to be very warm & caring & treated Sheena with the utmost care.He went very slow with her to try & bring her around. She really seemed to benefit from the acupuncture he used on her. She was never stressed in his office & all the staff were wonderful with her . Unfortunately Sheena had problems & had to be euthanized, but it wasnt because Dr. David didnt try. He gave it everything he had to try & turn her around. I would highly recommend his practice to anyone. Dr. David & his wife Dr. Martha are both excellent & will treat you like one of the family. So far, so pleased. Classical homeopathy, muscle testing, nutrition consults, acupuncture, and Chinese medicine all under one roof, administered by 2 vets, a husband and wife team. The husband oversees Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and shares the nutritional consults with his wife, Martha Lindsay, who also handles classical homeopathy, and behavior medicine. Through a modality called muscle testing, an off shoot of kineseology, in one hour Dr. Martha Lindsay and I learned that my dog has allergies to grain, dairy, nuts, pork, venison, soy, and white potatoes. In addition, we also learned that some of her dog food, treats, and vitamins disagreed with her. Bella's a dog, I know, but an ounce of prevention now could mean a pound of cure later.  When you've lost a beloved and loyal companion to a mysterious illness that baffled some of the top vets on the east coast, to prevent that from happening again, you'll take every precaution possible. In just 24 hours after the appointment my pup stopped chasing her tail and biting at herself as if there were a small festivity of fleas living la vida loca. The appointment is expensive, $225 for the hour, but in the long and short run, worth it. You won't get a diagnosis right away. Dr Lindsay will consider EVERY aspect of your conversation, her notes, your intake form, ponder it, call you the following day and the day after that to ask more questions, gathering more information, and then come up with a diagnosis. She is thorough, personable, and K-9 friendly. Her clinic is spotless, has good clean energy throughout, and the exam room is really dog friendly with tennis balls and stuffed toys. My dog was so relaxed in her office, she took a nap.  The nutritional supplements prescribed are human grade, bioavailable, and effective, as I have taken some of Standard Process' nutrional supplements myself.  They are not a full service veterinary office, so you'll have to seek allopathic care elsewhere. This is where you go before or after your dog has a a reaction to a vaccine, her food, environment, you, etc... The 40 minute drive was well worht the results we have seen in just 24 hours. Read Less
