We had been going there for a few years and it seems like every time we call the vet we saw last is no longer there. The last time we were there was for a checkup for our 12 year old Labrador. I exp...
We had been going there for a few years and it seems like every time we call the vet we saw last is no longer there. The last time we were there was for a checkup for our 12 year old Labrador. I explained to the fourth new vet that after a long walk he develops a slight limp in one of his front legs and that I had just taken him on a long walk so she could see what I was talking about. She watched him walk and commented that it was very slight and it may be arthritis. Then during the exam she pulled on his bad leg and he yelped louder than I had ever herd before, he laid down on the floor and never moved again. I had to practically carry him to the car. I called a few days latter and they said to put him on medication, I brought him back in for blood work and meds. By then his elbow was the size of a softball. Then when he was not getting better they told me he has cancer and there was nothing we could reasonably do for him. I called again and complained to the owner who told me my dog was not injured there and if he had been that there would be a note on his chart. So we are now preparing for my dogs death due to cancer. Now it's time for a second opinion, so we take the dog to Roberts animal hospital who wants to know what vet we saw before them so they can get his records. Reluctantly I told them and guess what after reading Pembroke animal hospitals notes the new vet agreed, we need to make preparations for my dogs death. After we argued for a while because my dog clearly does not have cancer and did not develop cancer in three days the vet said let's do an x-ray and you will see your dog has bone cancer. So we did the x-ray for hundreds of dollars and no bone cancer but now the vet says it's soft tissue cancer. Well I am happy to report that after three months of rest the swelling went down and my dog is almost back to normal. I am an adult and I own up to my mistakes but I guess Pembroke animal hospital does not. Do yourself a favor and never go there and if you know someone that does go there read them this story!

Took my dog here for the first time today and they were great! My dog was so nervous in the closed exam room so they took him out of the room and did an exam in an open space. They made above and beyond accommodations for him. Dr. Johnson's calm bedside manner is just what Henry needed. She also offered great advice on products from shampoos to lawn care to keep Henry safe and healthy.

We moved to the area about two years ago and have been to Pembroke Animal Hospital about 4 times. My dog is very nervous and can show teeth when fearful. My old vet (Dr. Glacier at Emerson Animal Hospital in Dorchester ) was very patient and compassionate and would never muzzle or medicate my pup. Here, the vet refused to see my dog unless he was put on a sedative. Very disappointed in the attitudes of the staff here and will not be going back.

I have been going to this Vet for 8 years... They have gone downhill. My favorite Vet Dr. PAIGE left and went to Plymouth . They have a huge turnaround w vets and techs. There are a couple of miserable receptionists. .what I have dealt with in past 6 mos. A new puppy whose appt had to be rescheduled due to storm. I independently took puppy in and the Vet tech yelled at me nd he was too skinny ... ( his breed and make) she yelled in front of everyone " Haven't you ever had a baby ?" Who ask a woman that ? Then a few months lately my puppy ate a sock I took him to Weymouth VCA( they were great). I went into double check they got the info and she yelled me in front on everyone .. He is a puppy. The final insult was my request to speak to owner and VET.. w concerns regarding my older dog. Shw had her secretary call me back . I had my that dogs records faxed to Kingston Animal Hospial ( my dog has a seizure disorder). I stopped by there to pick up my puppy flea tick / heartwarm. THE VET had my puppy records transferred too , never notified me.... poor service and too expensive

Great experience for new dog owners! One of my dogs was scared and tried to eat everyone, but the experienced nurses wrapped him and held him gently. They also didn't make us feel bad about the hard time they were clearly having while examining my dogs!

Please don't take your animals here! My husband and I recently moved to the area, and thought we would give this place a try. I brought our dog, Kinleigh, in for an appointment with an ear infection. They are very difficult to get an appointment with. The wait was two weeks out. When our appointment finally rolled around I was not pleased with the facilities, receptionist, or the vet. The receptionist was not welcoming or pleasant. The facility is dated and dirty looking/smelling. The vet came into the room, introduced herself, and started examining Kinleigh. The vet did not give Kinleigh any love or affection before she started probing her. The vet was right in Kinleigh's face. In my experience this is not how you approach and interact with a dog. I was not at all happy with the visit, but thought I would give them one more try. When I brought Kinleigh back for a check up on her ear the receptionist had me weigh Kinleigh and tell her how much Kinleigh weighs. I basically did her job for her while she stood at the receptionist desk. Then we were led into the exam room which was just mopped with bleach and still soaking wet. A towel was brought in, dropped on the floor, and left there throughout our entire appointment. I had Kinleigh sit on the chair so that she didn't have to stand on the freshly bleached, still wet floor. The vet tech swabbed Kinleigh's ear and when Kinleigh whined a bit the tech said, "Oh it doesn't hurt." After a few minutes the vet came in, said hello to me, went over and started looking in Kinleigh's ears. Again she didn't give Kinleigh any love or affection. I don't think it's too much to ask that the people working in the ANIMAL hospital would be pleasant and loving towards animals... and know how to handle themselves around them i.e. Not putting yourself directly in a dog's face... Unfortunately, that is not the case here, and we will not be back again.

My experience here today was amazing. The front desk staff, vet tech Kristen, and Dr. Belvin were all friendly, helpful, and most of all, gentle and compassionate with my fur baby. After having had a bad experience with another local vet, I decided to come to Pembroke Animal Hospital and I was not disappointed. Thank you so much for taking such great care of Izzy today!

Ok, so I'm a bit of a weirdo when it comes to my pets and have each of them go to different vets to see which one is the best and... drum roll....... I think Pembroke is the BEST! I don't use them for much. I give my pets their own vaccinations (aside from rabies) and only use the vet for emergencies or when somethings really up. I'm probably the type of customer they hate catering to, but they've always been so pleasant to me and my dog. I've been to Bridgewater, Weymouth VCA, Abington Animal Hospital and New England Animal Hospital and I think Pembroke is the most caring, compassionate and reasonable. The others listed above have their pros but I feel the most confident in Pembroke.

I was thoroughly unimpressed. My cats exam was extremely cursory and they tried to up sell me on a lot of services and acted like I was a bad kitty mommy when I refused. They seemed competent and it's great that they offer 24 hour emergency care. They did run on time and everyone was nice, but I won't be going back.

I like this place and so does my pooch. The staff is happy and they actually run on schedule. The rates are much better than the other animal hospitals. I loved having Dr T but its kinda lame that we have a different Dr every time we're in. Thats the only reason that i gave them a 3/5.

We had been going there for a few years and it seems like every time we call the vet we saw last is no longer there. The last time we were there was for a checkup for our 12 year old Labrador. Great experience for new dog owners! One of my dogs was scared and tried to eat everyone, but the experienced nurses wrapped him and held him gently. They also didn't make us feel bad about the hard time they were clearly having while examining my dogs!

Please don't take your animals here! My husband and I recently moved to the area, and thought we would give this place a try. I brought our dog, Kinleigh, in for an appointment with an ear infection. Ok, so I'm a bit of a weirdo when it comes to my pets and have each of them go to different vets to see which one is the best and... drum roll....... I think Pembroke is the BEST!
