He saved my babies when just a few days earlier sent home by another veterinarian saying would be ok had fever but gave nothing by other local doctor and said no parasites yet there were my baby’s started throwing up blood after eating one bowl of a fresh bag of dog food being sent out for testing buy poison control also dog food manufacturer wants sample for testing as well they are on the mend now thank heaven still on medicine but coming back to my beautiful babies I can not thank them all for their kindness to me and saving my babies everyone at pilgrim animal hospital was wonderful they took them in right away I can’t thank them enough for saving my babies Arizona and baby Montana for Arizona was as very rich and go I love them so much thanks doc Murphy and you wonderful staff Read Less

Unethical and outdated business! Find another vet! They don't have proper facilities, nor are they upfront/honest about the costs of services. They just charged me $250 more than what they originally told me I would have to pay... Absolutely horrible experience! I'm so distraught. I should have used a more reputable vet. There are so many others! Go to the Court Street Animal Hospital for example, right around the corner. But avoid this place. The office is also in serious need of updating. They don't even have the ability to do ex-rays. What kind of establishment calls itself a hospital but can't take an ex-ray??? Even my chiropractor can do an ex-ray!!! I just hope that our little dog will be okay. They gave us no instructions on how to help her recover from her procedure! Please look elsewhere. Read Less

I cannot say enough about Dr. Murphy, he is very patient and gentle with my dog.  One evening she was vomiting and lethargic, when I called they said to bring her right in and she ended up having lyme, but thankfully was caught in time.  They are very accommodating and prices are reasonable.  I am VERY happy with Pilgrim Animal Hospital. I originally brought my German Shepherds in to see Dr Boswell more than a decade ago, because he was a Shepherd expert. After he passed away (Bless his soul) we stayed with Dr Shone....now we have Dr Murphy. All the Doctors and staff here are warm, accommodating, knowledgeable and professional. Dr. Murphy has always been very kind with me and my cat William. He found a lump in William which led me to finding out he had bladder cancer. He recommended a special diet which kept William alive longer. When I knew it was time to put William down Dr. Murphy took me right in and made the the whole devastating process easy and peaceful. If you want to have your pet die, this is the place for you and your pet. Misdiagnosis, no diagnosis, improper tests run, no tests run, being told one thing only a couple of hours later to have to watch your pet suffer and die in front of you while being told by a veterinarian hospital that everything you were told by Dr. Death Murphy just a couple of hours prior was wrong.....if you want to have your pets symptoms put off, if you want to have to go back time and time again because they can't get it right then this is the place to bring your pet. Do yourself and your pet a great service and find a true veterinarian to bring your four legged family to.....or yours may end up dead just like ours did because Dr Death Murphy puts things off and hasn't a clue if your pet is really sick, how to deal with it or to.....or what to tell you......if you don't think it could happen to you, so did we and paid the ultimate price with the loss of our pet. Dr. Murphy is the kindest vet ever. He was so sweet with our new puppy when she was under the weather... and he patched her right up! Later, on a separate occasion, he was incredibly compassionate in putting down my mom's cat... he made sure to provide a complete examination to validate that it was the right and humane thing to do, explaining exactly how her little body had failed her, and was so gentle and respectful throughout the process. The ladies who work in his front office are angels, too. Highly recommend. Don't let the fact that the 1960's office looks like a set from the television show Mad Men throw you... Dr. Murphy and his team deliver top notch care with a truly personal touch. Read Less

I absolutely love this hospital and staff. We first took our dog there in June when he had injured his leg and they saw us right away the next morning, on a weekend. We weren't sure what he had but he suspected it was just a ligament injury or something since nothing had showed up on the x-rays so he gave us some pain meds & anti-inflammatory's and told us to limit exercise for a few weeks, so we did. He healed up fine without needing surgery.Then we just went back today because both our cat and our dog needed shots and we suspected our dog had an ear infection. Turns out he didn't, just dirty and were yeasty and a little bacteria. But he gave us some ear ointment to drop in his ear every day for a week. The staff there is excellent though and they all have a way with animals.Our dog didn't like having his temperature taken today but he just very calmly grabbed a muzzle and carried on with everything, which was easy since our dog loves him.He had a special way with the cat too. I thought for sure we would have to hold her down, as we had had to with our last vet (and she eventually didn't like that and had to be taken to her office and sedated as she was a home visit vet) and that she would freak out, but we didn't even have to hold her. I just rubbed her head while he slipped the needles in discreetly before she noticed. He even managed to shave off a large mat on her rear. He was very patient and gentle with he and she seemed to recognize that and remained calm the entire time.I'm not sure where all these bad reviews are coming from or why but we have not experienced that at all.  Dr. Murphy is excellent and they are also very reasonably priced.I am truly sorry that people have had bad experiences and that the one person's dog died but we think Dr. Murphy and staff are excellent and have switched over from our previous vet.People do make mistakes but leaving a terrible review, especially for one mistake, isn't going to fix things. Especially leaving 3 reviews on one site AND going to another. That's not going to bring your dead dog back.And besides, if you went hours later, it's very likely your dog indeed WASN'T dehydrated at Dr. Murphy's but became so.But even if Dr. Murphy did make a mistake, it could have happened at ANY vet and I don't think it condemns their practice.It just makes me sad to see all these terrible reviews about the place when we have had NOTHING but GREAT experiences with them!!!!! Dr Murphy has cared for my dog since he started his practice at Pilgrim Animal Hospital.  She lived to the age of 14, partly because of his good care.  At the end of her life, she needed to be euthanized.  Dr Murphy showed such genuine kindness and caring toward me and my dog Emmy at this very difficult time.  I have a young dog that will continue to receive care through Dr Murphy.  The advice I have received about that dog has been very helpful.  Dr Murphy has wonderful office staff who provide excellent and caring service.  He has a modest office, not fancy, and his prices are very fair.  I would recommend his practice to anyone seeking good care for their dog.
