Needed to have my little pug seen as soon as possible. My regular vet office was not available so I called BCAC and they were able to fit us right in. Dr. Tom was great! Honest and to the point which I really appreciated. Dr. Tom's vet assistant was great as well- very sweet and loving to my little pug! Horrendous experience with having to say goodbye to my dog. The doctor (not Tom) was cold, abrupt, rude, rushed, absolutely No compassion at all. No bedside manner at all. Apparently we were holding him up from going to lunch. He made our sad decision that much worse and that is unforgivable! The people I have told about my experience here are shocked when comparing the caring way which they said goodbye to their pethe at other facilities. My dog was a frequent visitor to the clinic so you would like to think that maybe even a little compassion would have been given to us. I will be following up this sad review with Dr. Tom who I wish had been the doctor to administer the injection. I am hoping he would have been more caring during this sad time. Read Less

I am a former vet tech and worked for a modern, AAHA member hospital in the past.  This clinic is in an older building and may not have all the fancy bells & whistles, but what they DO have is a caring staff and doctors who care about what's right for your pet and not just how much they can get out of your wallet.  Good care and honest vets mean much more to me than fancy waiting rooms with their higher prices.  Dr. Tom and and Dr. Newman are great and we trust them with our fur kids.  We came to Bristol about 10 years ago (after a bad experience at another hospital which cost my dog his life) and we are staying right here. I've always had a good experience here. It's not a fancy place, but I don't need fancy: I need knowledgeable, caring vets and vet techs and Dr. Tom and his staff fit the bill. Over twenty years or so, we've had five different kitties that we've brought here--some adopted as kittens, some as seniors--and we've always felt that we and our kitties have been treated well. I've taken my two labs and numerous cats, as well as fosters, to Tom and the various vets he has shared his office with since 1990. My mom also used them for her cat and recommended Tom. There was a vet there that was rude to me but he is no longer there. He did however, diagose my dog correctly with Leukemia well before the tests proved it. They are caring people. I've seen Tom really upset because he lost a dog during surgery. If you get to know them, they treat you like a friend and your pet like a loved one. That's why I keep going there! Read Less

Dr. Tom is amazing. I've been going here for a year and a half with my cavalier but had to go this past week with my very sick cat. We found out my cat was in renal failure. Long story short she had to be put to sleep. Dr Tom and his staff were so supportive. I was completely at a loss and they were absolutely wonderful. So kind and so good to me and my cat. On a regular basis I see Dr Newman just because he is easier to get an appointment with (now I know why Dr Tom is so popular).  Dr Newman does a great job with my dog Eva and takes great care of her.The office staff is pleasant and helpful and I feel like they are always willing to pass any savings they get onto you.  Bottom line a loving vet who is in his profession for the right reason!  Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them or go to them for all future pets and/or issues.Thank you Dr Tom and all of your staff for everything! Be prepared to wait!!!  This is why I found a new vet.  It was too stressful for my cat to wait in her carrier for 45 min. plus!!!  Everyone is nice there just can't understand why there is always such a long wait. Read Less

I can only speak for Dr. Tom and that witch of a receptionist, but this place is terrible!!! The receptionist is literally the rudest woman with zero personality. When taking my sick dog here she was barking at the vet, and he refused to treat her and said that " he doesn't risk his life for dogs like that". My dog is lovable, goes to doggy daycare, has two baths a year, and is almost 7 and never had any trouble with anyone or any veterinarian before, everyone loves her, but not this guy... WHAT A JERK!!! The place also looks like it hasn't been updates since the 70's and is filthy...my aunt told me that she saw a dog leave the surgery room, and he/she was being dragged on the dirty floor on top of blanket while still knocked out from anesthesia!!! I agree with the last post!!! I took my cat there, the receptionists were nice, but he vet proceeded to torture my cat, getting him really nervous before his needles, by picking him up by the neck, and roughing him up, then squeezing his privates and laughing. The nurse suggested he use a baby needle, and instead he used an adult one, which made my cat scream in pain throughout the whole injection. The place smells like urine, and on top of it all he charged by $100 which included an exam I didn't ask for, all I wanted was a simple vaccine. That man is sadistic, I cried over it when I got home. this Dr (Tom) is the old fashioned kind of vet who talks the truth to you and makes sure you understand if their is a medical condition going on with your pet..he does not talk down to you,,i truly can picture him out in a horse stable helping a horse! He cared for my 13 year old dog all of her life and in the last two years of her life made her as comfortable as possible so we could love her a bit more. the building and office waiting room may not be modeern but i have seen money used to give free meds for animals that owners can't afford (seniors, etc.,). I also am appalled at the snooty ness of Horrific when he says the waiting area and people are rude...it is a small room cleaned at night..i have been there after hours. the room is always filled with animals and owners. to ask your dog to stay away from other dogs when it is being seen for an illness is only common sense and these people don't know you or your dog. Get real and go back to your high priced , just out of school veterinary clinic. Read Less

It's sad that anyone can post whatever they want on the Internet even though it is totally false. I take my 3 labradors to Dr Tom and would not take them anywhere else. Im convinced this is THE WORST VET ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH! because if its not then I have lost all hope. I scheduled and appt for my dog today due to some throat irritation. The facility is dirty. We were greeted by a rude woman who told me to keep my dog away from the others because ""we dont need no dogs fights here""...after a long wait we were finally about to be seen. My dog gets very anxious/nervous at the vet, and tends to bark but is no danger...she is 4 and has been seen by her primary vet multiple times, she receives her shots at PETCO, and goes to doggy day care and I have never had any problems. The vet was so rude & refused to see/treat my dog. He said that hes ""not risking himself for a dog like that"". Im not sure what that meant but I am very hurt by this! WHAT A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
