I cannot say enough about the great staff at Muddy Creek. I have had several dogs but had never used day care or boarding until I rescued a very fearful dog. The trainer Katelyn is impressive in her help with both owner and dog. We were able to socialize her and now goes to day care. The day care staff are so professional. Grouped in three different yards outside in great play areas. Indoors they have their own space to rest between play sessions. Boarding was a great experience as well. Muddy Creek takes outstanding care of my pets.  I have been going here since I moved to the Newburyport area over 2 years ago.  Dr. Field and Dr. Liebert are very reassuring and give top notch care to both my dogs. I had selected this vet for our new family pet based on excellent word of mouth reviews. Unfortunately the vet was so rude to us, I won't be coming back. Upon entering the room and began berating me for being in the wrong room. First, I'm a new client...try to make a good impression, second she was 20 minutes late...if you can't be on work on time for scheduled first day appt, don't book them so early, and third it's your staff's issue, yell at your staff not me. (Actually if that's how you talk to customers, how do you talk to your staff) I didn't select the room. After the tongue lashing and not even a hello good morning nice to meet you, she got in/out of there as quick as possible. We've been coming here for several years, initially on the recommendation of one of our animal rescue friends. We've used pretty much all the services, for both cats and dogs: neutering, euthanasia, boarding, grooming, daycare, obedience classes and been very happy and impressed with all of them! The office staff is warm and wonderful, we can get a prompt caring appointment within a week. We've said goodbye to three dogs here, and can say that Muddy Creek was the most sensitive to our needs in very sad times - we're fans! One other thing I appreciate is the technology: over the web, I can ask questions, do refills, make an appt, then get reminders of the appt. I truly wish our family doctors functioned that well! Last summer I left my cat with my son while I went away. Well, the cat got sick and my son had to find a vet. He found Muddy Creek. They were wonderful to both my son and the cat. Many more visits they managed to get my cat producing red blood cells again meaning they saved his life! Every person I have encountered has been outstanding! My cats have recently been seen and treated at Muddy Creek. From standard check ups, to sick calls, the grooming salon, the Cat Tail Inn, a neuter and a cystotomy. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the doctors are knowledgable, take the time to answer all my questions (I usually have a lot) and most of all you can tell everyone there has an incredible love for animals. Me and my wife bring our cat here for boarding from time to time when we're on vacation. Our cat is over 13 years old, plays like he's 2, is very vocal and affectionate but also has a sensitive stomach. I found that the staff at this place is really great.  They take the time to answer any questions you have.  They work late hours to accommodate the schedules of their clients.  They are always willing to discuss what is needed and what is not if you are on a budget.  They can get busy but I've never had trouble being fit in for an appointment.  They also offer training, day care, grooming, kenneling, and a store for some supplies.  I have always been happy here and have recommended this place to several friends. I recently switched to Muddy Creek because of their later hours. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. My dog was recently diagnosed with Congestive Heart failure, as you can imagine this has been hard for me and the little guy. Once meeting Dr. Sapienza I was immediately impressed. I explained to her my wishes are to keep my dog comfortable for the rest of his time with me. Dr. Sapienza immediately agreed and started my dog on a treatment that I can say I am 100 percent comfortable with. I was asking her about limiting going for walks and her response was, "let him do what ever makes him happy, if he gets tired turn around and head back". I really liked that making him happy was a priority.Having someone that can make me feel comfortable in such a stressful time means the world to me. Read Less

This practice has really declined over the years. The front office has become rude and judgemental, and the vets are more interested in profit than the well being of your pet. We have taken our dogs here for years, and at one time the care was excellent and the staff friendly and knowledgable, I do not know what could have caused such dramatic decline in care and customer service, but I do know we will not be returning. We have used Muddy Creek for vet services and for puppy training. Katelyn is a fantastic dog trainer that works to train you to train your pup. She was always very patient, with several solutions to a problem. I would highly recommend her training classes. Vet services are great, and they have strived to make visits affordable. Have seen both Drs. Reiser (split dewclaw) and Sapienza (routine vaccs and idiopathic eye discharge incident). Both took time to get down on the floor and interact with my dogs and thoroughly look them over. Both Drs. were very willing to explain options and solutions to me in a friendly and non-condescending manner. Building is very accessible with adequate parking. Open 7 days a week. Read Less

I have been going to Muddy Creek for 4 years. I love everything about this facility. First off, it's one stop shopping. They offer daycare, grooming, boarding, obedience classes, abd of course, veterinary services. All of the staff members are very welcoming and knowledgable.  They know the names of all the animals that come in the door. All 3 vets are awesome. Very knowledgeable and nice. We had to put down my Australian Shepherd, Turbo, down in March and I was very impressed at how sympathetic and accommodating Muddy Creek was when we brought Turbo in. They respected us and gave us as much time we wanted to spend with Turbo before we put him down. I now bring my new 1 yr old Boxer, Lazarus, there for veterinary care as well as daycare. He LOVES going to daycare and is thoroughly exhausted when I pick him up at the end of the day. The daycare staff are vert knowledgable about dog behavior and stay with the pack constantly. I have found Muddy Creek to be an outstanding animal hospital. Every time I have taken in my Wheaten, Sam, for care they have been accurate in the diagnosis and terrific in finding the right path for the dog's recovery. Recently, my dog broke her toe. What seems like a small injury is actually very difficult to heal because a toe won't heal when a dog is running on it. The veterinarians at Muddy Creek thought long and hard about the best treatment and even called an animal orthopedic specialist for his advice. The plan Muddy Creek decided on was to put my dog's leg a splinter cast up to her ""elbow."" The cast had to be replace ever 5 days to be sure that there was no problem going on under it that would go undetected otherwise. The treatment lasted 12 weeks and now Sam is perfect. To me one of the greatest parts about working with MC is how much the doctors helped me cope with such a long recovery for Sam. I was just so sad about the whole thing; the doctors encouraged me and empathized with me. The staff at MC is one of the finest. Terrific people at the front desk, great assistant staff. I am a new client of Muddy Creek's grooming salon. I have a 5 y/o Bullmastiff and a 4 y/o English Bulldog. I can't say enough about Louise, the groomer who services my dogs when I come on Saturdays. My dogs come out looking and smelling great! I have a busy schedule and Louise always goes above and beyond to meet my scheduling needs. My Bullmastiff is 125lbs and doesn't take kindly to being wet. This is a really good kennel.  They keep the dog areas very clean.The linen is constantly being washed.  If you have to pick up your dog late in the day, get him/her groomed.  They you don't have to pay for the last day, just the grooming. Read Less

We have just had a very disappointing experience at Muddy Creek, all the more surprising since we have used the kennel services for over a dozen years. It is obvious to me that their previsouly high standards have suffered, maybe from sitting on their laurels. We will never be sending another pet to them for care. We boarded our dog over the Fourth of July long weekend (7/2 - 7/6). Apparently he got sick somtime Friday or Saturday (we still don't have the straight story from the kennel) - lethargic, not eating or taking water - and was moved into their hospital unit. On Sunday morning (7AM) he was transferred to the Essex Emergency Vet in North Andover. We were contacted by Essex and started to manage his care. Here's the real problem with Muddy Creek: they never called us to notify us our dog was sick, they never called us to notify us he had been transferred to Essex. They never tried contacting any of the three alternate / emergency phone numbers we left with them. As a matter of fact, when my husband called on Monday at 2PM and spoke with the facility manager, she had no idea they had tranferred a dog over the weekend to Essex. If they can't be bothered to make a phone call, and the facility manager has no idea of weekend events regarding care of the animals, can you really trust them to take care of your pet? Read Less
