I just moved and went to another vet in Mashpee and wasn't too impressed. I'm so happy I found this vet after my dog got an infection. They are so attentive and really do care. I called two days later with an update on my dog and they automatically remembered who I was. The day we went to the vet they were so gentle and nice with my dog especially for how much pain he was in. I really trust that he was in good hands and that made me feel great about bringing him there or anytime I have a concern. They don't milk you for money or pressure you into the most expensive treatments. Read Less

I can not say enough good things about this office. My kitties have been so well cared for here, from the  vets, whom they have met each one and always set up the best care plan for your pet. The techs who treat them like their own and the receptionists who are so kind and do their best to fit your pet in when needed. So happy to found them while vacationing. My dog suffers from allergies and I have taken him to different vets including a dermatologist and they have always given him lots of meds that didn't seem to help much and had side effects. Decided to make a appointment and saw Dr. Henneman. What a nice surprise. The facility is clean and beautiful. Mike was so sweet with our dog, I could immediately feel that they care. Then when Dr. Henneman came and evaluated my dog she suggested a shot that so far has no side effects and it's been really effective. We have been visiting Dr. Dave for over 10 years, where we began seeing him at the old facility next door with the late Owen, Onyx and Nina. The true test of a most excellent veterinarian is his/her accessibility in the moments of crisis- which often occur after hours, on weekends and on holidays. We were recently reminded of his compassion and dedication to our furry family when we had a near death experience with our 4 year old Chewie. It happened days before Christmas and Dave and his staff took top notch care of him prior to sending him home with detailed instructions, medications and his cell phone number in case of emergency. We kept in daily contact while the hospital was closed and went back two more times the following week for further medical intervention and more instructions and medications. It is now New Year's Eve weekend and Chewie has shown steady progress each day. He has a long road ahead, but he is alive and we are so grateful. One final word: I have already mentioned that David Romeiser is a gifted veterinarian, but you are really only as good as the rest your staff in a business like this. Dr. Dave, Dr. Abby and all the staff are like family. Recently we lost our beloved lab to cancer. Dr. Dave on a hunch found it early. Which allowed us to attempt treatment and gave us over a year of extra quality time with him. Dr. Abby came to our home on his final day. She and Mike were amazing and so respectful. They helped our big guy pass on peacefully with dignity, at his home and surrounded by family. We could never go anywhere else. My wife and I were visiting family in Plymouth with our dog Abby, and Abby started having diarrhea, and it persisted for more than 24 hours. It was a Saturday and we were more than an hour from Abby's vet, so we look to Yelp for some help.Shawme was the first place we called, and our experience started off great off the bat. The woman on the phone was helpful in listening to our concerns, asking questions, and consulting with the vet. They recommended coming in and had an opening in less than an hour.We got to Shawme a little early. As we were filling out the requisite paperwork, someone came out to the waiting area, sat down on the floor, and started playing with Abby to make her feel comfortable. Great idea! Luckily, Abby loves anywhere she can smell other dogs, so she engaged and started jumping around (despite her sickness).When we moved into an exam room, the great care and customer service continued. They were thorough in their examination, suggested a few possible causes of the diarrhea, ruled others out, and discussed with us the recommended next steps.Part of the care required injecting fluids subcutaneously, and they had the perfect setup for it. One person sat down with Abby, strategically holding her still and comfortable, while the other inserted the needle. The process took about 10 minutes, and Abby remained calm, undoubtedly because of the care she was receiving.Our only regret is that we don't live close enough to schedule wellness visits at Shawme. I cannot say enough wonderful things about ALL the staff here!! They are beyond amazing loving people! I was in a horrible position when I found our kitten got hurt and we did not know what happened! I called the animal hospitals close by to my house and all said the same thing that if I can't come up with the money for him to get emergency treatment I should just put him down or when I explained what was going on they reccommeded I had him put down .. It devastated us to think we would end his life at 6 months old because of an injury he could heal from with some help! So I was referred to Shawmee by a few people and although it's a ride for me it was entirely worth it and I never plan on going anywhere else!! They were all about taking care of our kitten and treated him as if he were their child too! He had a long stay and he was very happy there and everyone was just so great to me and him! Dr. Romeiser picked the perfect career- he is kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and really cares about his patients and parents. While our 15 year cat was recovering from a horrific injury, and we were concerned about his fluid intake, Dr. Romeiser met us at his office (he was closed), and showed us how to administer fluids at home, saving us hundreds of dollars had we gone back to the Vet specialists in Buzzard's Bay where we was a patient. The staff is kind and take every patient that comes in there into there hearts. They love the mom's and dad's of the pets and want to help in anyway they can to keep everyone happy and healthy. I had my cat Echo for 5 years now and I saved her from an abusive home. She had a chronic ear infection for 4 years and I took her to 4 other vets and they could never help me get it under control. The last place I took her before Dr. Romeiser said she had a polyp in her ear but I would have to take her to a specialist and spend about $2000! Dr. Romeiser did it for a lot cheaper and she has been free from infections ever since! If he has tools he will help in anyway he can. I highly recommend this clinic and the staff! Dr. Hennamen is a cat whisperer and does an amazing job in the rooms with the animals and there owners. She gets down on the floor with them so they are more at ease and comfortable. We have been using Shawme Animal Hospital for almost 15 years. In that time Dr. Romeiser and his staff have provided our family pets outstanding care. When we first moved to the cape, we tried other providers, but just didn't seem to obtain the balance we were looking for until we came to Shawme. Dr. Romeiser is an outstanding Doctor that provides both great expertise as well as great bedside manner for both his patients and their owners. In my most recent experience with their office, my dog wasn't eating and had very little energy. Within a short period of time, Dr. Romeiser diagnosed our dog with a rare disease that if had been left untreated, our dog would no longer be with us. We were away on our annual vacation, in North Carolina. We got a horrifying phone call, on Wednesday morning, informing us that our dog Gunner had collapsed. Our neighbor Barry, who was caring for our dogs, rushed him to Shawme Animal Hospital. Gunner had been a patient there for 11 years. The staff were ready to take him at the door. Helpless and concerned, I continued to call Shawme Animal Hospital (from North Carolina) trying to get any information on Gunner's condition. The receptionists( Corinna + Malen) were always kind, professional, empathetic and informative. That day, they were very busy with a lot of emergencies, yet they still treated me like Gunner was their only patient. Gunner went from near death and being paralyzed, to assisted walking in a 48 hour period. Dr. Romeiser, being so knowledgeable, did all the necessary tests and treatment without putting Gunner through anything unnecessary. Now that Gunner had seemed to be on the mend, yet still needed 24 hour care, we had to make a decision as to who would care for him. Dr. Romeiser told us not to worry, that he would care for Gunner, under the circumstances. Between the news of Gunner getting better and Dr. Romeiser saying he would care for him, we could finally relax. Saturday morning came and Gunner had taken a turn for the worse. Again, feeling helpless, we had to make a selfless decision to have Gunner euthanized, despite not being able to be with him or say goodbye. I first met Dr Dave in 1984 and he treated my cat Kitty. Kitty was very sick but he took such good care of her. I think he had her about as much as I did until the end. I don't think I've ever met anyone with more compassion. He's amazing with the animals but he's incredible with their pet-parents too. I can't say enough about Dr Dave & the amazing staff at Shawme Animal Hospital. My baby girl Stella, a 4lb yorkie received the best care while at Shawme. I lost Stella to a rare brain disease a month ago at almost 4yrs old, and while it was a very brief illness, the care she received from Shawme is something that I appreciate beyond words can say and will never forget.
