My son brought his dog here in March of 2018. Marley had a growth on her elbow and was itching it causing it to bleed. My son brought her to be examined and the Vet did not even touch her and told him she had a tumor. She also proceeded to tell my son that they were not a non profit. He felt awkward as she dismissed him with Marley still bleeding. She did not tend to the wound nor prescribed any medication for Marley. I thought Vets were suppose to treat every animal that is in need? Anyway, we went elsewhere for a second opinion and were told she does not have a tumor and treated her wound and prescribed some antibiotics. Never will we ever go back to Spruce Hill or recommend it to anyone! Maybe they took a look at my broke ass college kid and let their biases get the better of them but what bothered me the most was that Marley was dismissed and clearly she needed some tending to. Found a Barred Owl, wounded and emaciated in the back woods. We called numerous places throughout CT and MA. Tuft's Wildlife in North Grafton recommended Spruce Hill. Spruce Hill is widely recognized as the best veterinary clinic in the Pioneer Valley, and for good reason. The doctors here are amazing people, and truly care about your animals, as well as their owners (YOU!). Not only is the staff extremely well versed in veterinary care, but they also do an excellent job of making you feel comfortable, as well as making sure that you understand everything that they are doing from a medical standpoint. You don't leave their office without having a complete understanding about every aspect of the the health and well being of your animals. If you are an animal owner, you know that they are as much a part of your family as any other living thing in the house, so it is imperative that you find someone you can trust and depend on when seeking medical care. It is such a good feeling when I bring my animals into Spruce Hill for this very reason. I know going in that I have nothing to fear. Spruce Hill is the most caring, compassionate, and wonderful place! I have been coming here for 20 years and would really trust them with my life. The below review sounds completely farfetched, as I cannot think of smarter, more invested, kind, and present vets. Dr. B spent HOURS with me during all my visits and called me on his days off to make sure that my dog was recovering OK from surgery. He really wanted to make sure I understood what was happening and was there if I had questions or if I wanted to process what was going on. I am sorry, given that my own personal medical dr spends about 5 minutes with me, it's pretty amazing and unheard of nowadays to get someone who really cares. The entire staff at Spruce Hill is also warm and wonderful. They make us feel welcome and always greet my kids with a smile and toy. Dr. H even has small trinkets for kids that she gives out and because of her, my little one wants to be a vet when she gets older. Dr. H was also there for our entire family when we made the most difficult decision of our lives and put our 16 year old dog to sleep after a long battle with cancer. She was so kind and empathic, providing light on an otherwise dark day. I would not send my pets anywhere else. I wish I could give this place 10 stars!! Read Less

I tried to overlook that, but the next time I took my dog there for bloodwork, his wife was on duty. Three vet techs were holding my dog down and shaving his neck for her to try to get a vein. All the while she was giving me grief for being concerned. I never went back. The next vet I went to in Hampden immediately noticed that my one dog has a tear duct infection that the other vet had not picked up on. Then the vet tech walked in the room and put a needle quickly into the dog's paw to draw blood. THANK YOU! I will never go back to Spruce Hill. Read Less

I couldn't be prouder that our sweet cat, Milo is now featured on the SHVC FB page! He had a life threatening stomach illness two years ago. :( Dr. Sherry took him under her wing when he began to have bowel issues and refused to eat. She did everything in her power to diagnose the illness, without unnecessary testing and expense. The staff observed Milo for a couple of days, provided TLC, and diligently coaxed him to eat something..anything. Dr. Sherry sent him home with appetite boosters, examined him again, gave great advice, and thankfully over time Milo showed signs of improvement. My family thought we'd lose him. We are so grateful that Milo has many years ahead of him! :D Read Less

All 3 of my dogs go here. The Doctors are very knowledgable and explain things in a way that is easy to understand. You can tell that the Doctors love what they do and care so much. The doctors will go above and beyond and our dogs love them. I highly recommend bringing your pet here. Read Less
