Would not hesitate to add extra costs to your bill by performing services or prescribing expensive meds that are not essential. The customer service is sub-par, people are not very friendly and it takes time and effort to obtain a copy of your records when required. Recently they introduced a $25 "emergency visit" that allows cutting the line, hence the wait can be very long. I wanted to bring my pet for a routine case and was offered to pay for an emergency visit as an option. Since it was not an emergency I didn't pay extra and ended up waiting in a small room with my dog for an hour. I ended the appointment, left and never looked back. Read Less

My regular vet was a personal friend, we drove from Stoughton to Millis to see her. But started to take Tess to Animotion for therapy, same building as Lloyd's. We had to put her down suddenly and our vet was closed. So we went to Lloyd's. They were wonderful - so kind and compassionate - so much so we started to go there after with our other pets. Dr. Kris at Lloyd's is great - well rounded knowledge and gentle approach. The front desk and techs are all awesome. We have had to see other vets on short notice and they were equally as great. The facility is nice and clean with separate seating areas. Plus they are affordable compared to a lot of other places. We highly recommend. Read Less

My dogs have received excellent care at Lloyd's.  All doctors and staff are warm an welcoming.  You can tell they really care about their patients (and the humans too).  Over the years, my dogs have been treated by all of the doctors and they're all wonderful.Sometimes their is a wait due to other animals having emergencies, however, I would not take any stars away from Lloyd for prioritizing emergency cases over wellness visits.  As long as I reside in this area, Lloyd Animal Medical Center will be my veterinarians of choice. I've only been to Lloyd's 3x now but I've had a great experience so far. And I think it's important to add that I was referred by many people. I have tried many different vets and have not been satisfied with any in my area but I think I have found my new vet! I brought my dog in for the first time and I initially requested Dr Blumenstock aka Dr Claire and she was fully booked. I went with Dr. Clark who was amazing. I brought my dog in for anxiety, luxating patella and upset stomach issues. She spent over an hour with my dog and went over everything about her. We ended up finding out through her thorough exam that my dog was walking and standing weird because her muscle was bothering her, not even her knees, and that was something several vets had missed. We did a few sessions of laser therapy and she seems to be better! As far as the anxiety and tummy issues go- Dr Clark said she'd go over everything and give me a call with a customized treatment plan for my dog. She wanted to discuss diet and find the underlying issue in the body that could be causing these issues. She called me twice and each time we spoke for 20 mins. I've never had a conversation over the phone with a vet that lasted longer than a minute or two. We went over my dogs diet, supplements to add and she explained everything to me in detail about what each ingredient helped with and why it's important for my dogs behavior patterns and health concerns. That was extremely helpful. She said I could keep my dog on her current supplements which are probiotics, natural calming powder and a supplement for arthritis and knee issues. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars here is because they prescribed my dog a probiotic for her tummy issue and said to stop the probiotic I was giving for the time being...BUT if you look at the ingredients of the one they prescribed it's actually worse than the one I had at home. After they gave my dog the first dose she immediately had gas- burping, farting and even leaking when she was just laying down- her stomach issue actually got worse. She's never had gas in the year and a half I've had her and she's definitely never had leaking diarrhea in her sleep... So, I looked at the ingredients to find that there was salt, corn starch and soy as one of the first ingredients. No wonder she felt worse... some ingredients I had no idea what they were there and there were some probiotics in there at the bottom but the stuff I have at home has only probiotics and all of the other ingredients I know what they are and are good for dogs. Not sure why they'd prescribe that stuff but I never gave it to her again. Read Less

Took my ailing senior guinea pig to be evaluated here some time ago. Sadly for the past two years he suffered from gastric stasis and had been placed on a strict diet to reduce the occurrence of the episodes. He had been treated at another reputable animal hospital who took excellent care of him albeit his emergent visits/admissions cost approximately $1500 with each occurrence. Unfortunately, I moved and had no choice but to come here. The vet tech was very nice and handled my little friend with so much love. My interaction with the vet (a tall woman) was disheartening to say the least as she appeared to question me and his diet. In essence, implying I wasn't feeding him properly or enough. I was out off by her demeanor and felt she had no empathy for our situation. I left there with my little friend and took care of him at home. It was a useless visit. She scheduled a follow up appointment for he and my other young very healthy guinea pig (very robust in weight); likely because she thought I was mistreating he as well. Low and behold to her surprise my senior piggy had regained a little weight over the weeks and of course she was so surprised that my other piggy was incredibly healthy. Oh how fast did her demeanor change!!! A few weeks later my older piggy passed away. And I am suspecting it was just his time, living to the ripe old age of 8. I never went back and decided to drive 1.5hrs to my vet back home for continued care of my other pets. An empathetic, kind and warm heart goes along way. Read Less

Brought our 13 y.o King charles spaniel in for treatment regarding his Congestive Heart Failure, fluid in belly and trouble sleeping. They did an echocardiogram and blood work, and we had NOTHING explained to us regarding the results, we had to ask Dr. Buffman multiple times what the different levels were on his bloodwork and what they meant to which he gave us curt responses. He brought us back and explained to us that our dog had a 10% chance of surviving the night and we should put him down, and proceeded to ask us "you don't want your dog to drown do you?" Of course no pet owner wants their dog to drown, and it was this kind of unsympathetic demeanor that left us feeling terrible about our experience at Lloyds. They sent us to NEAMC for overnight treatment where the Dr's were so much more positive and actually explained our dog's condition/test results to us. They helped him so much and after a few days he was back home in good condition! (Not to mention Dr. Buffman called our home again and told us to put our dog down, after he had already been in the care of NEAMC for two nights and NOT in the care of Dr. Buffman)We have been customer's at Lloyds for 20 years and will not be returning because of Dr. Buffman's terrible bedside manner in this situation. He has clearly been in practice for too long and has lost his sensitivity chip! I'm sure he is a fine dr for regular check ups for your dog, but in the case of emergency/older dogs in a bind I would no longer recommend Lloyds because of Dr. Buffman. He put us through so much emotional turmoil that was completely unnecessary. That being said the front desk staff/nurses were kind and helpful to us. Read Less

Before our adopted dog from Texas was transported to us in April 2016, I knew I needed to get him checked out locally and establish him as a patient at a veterinary practice. A very good friend of mine who has had cats for most of her life without hesitation recommended Lloyd Animal Medical Center. Our first appointment went well when soon after our precious Oliver made his way up to us, and we were thrilled to learn that he was indeed in excellent health. Not knowing anything about heartworm medication, flea/tick prevention, additional vaccines, the staff was wonderful in educating me about the different medications and the options that they had to choose from. They were very upfront about price and there were no surprises. When I needed a refill, I simply just stopped in on a Saturday to pick one up. Very convenient, as they always had the meds in stock. But that is not the only reason for my review today.I cannot thank Dr. Buffman enough for when Oliver suddenly came down with Pancreatitis last month. On a Saturday Oliver was not eating, drinking, and not at all acting his normal bouncy self. I called Lloyd Animal Medical Center and they had me come in within the hour to be seen. Dr. Buffman could have not been kinder or more professional during Oliver's exam and went over his treatment plan with us in great detail. He had also said that if Oliver was still not doing well the next day, to call the office and he would be paged by the answering service. On Sunday Oliver was looking even worse, so I called the clinic and I received a phone call back from Dr. Buffman within 5 minutes. He listened to what was going on, and advised us to take him to Tufts VETS for fluids and blood work, but to come see him at 8am the following day- to save us from having to admit him to Tufts, which while they are wonderful, he advised that the cost would extremely high, and Oliver could end up being there for a number of days. Thankfully on Monday morning we showed up at the clinic and Oliver was doing better, so we were able to go home that morning and he didn't need to be admitted. Over the course of the next week, he got a bit better each day and was back to his normal self not long after. I am so grateful and thankful to Dr. Buffman and staff for taking such wonderful care of our "fur child", while he had two really anxious pet parents to care for as well. Side note, I highly recommend pet insurance. It is completely worth it, even if you don't really use it, you have the peace of mind that it is there if you do. Read Less

The front desk staff, aides, and Doctors have all been compassionate and appropriately involved in the care of my pets throughout the many years I've been associated with Lloyd Animal Medical Center. They've never tried to pad the bill by doing unnecessary tests or treatments on my pets. Although, when I wanted every possible test and treatment done on my small, blind, very old chi/mix furbaby the staff and Doctors of Lloyd Animal Medical Center understood and never tried to talk me out of trying to find out what was killing my little friend. When he finally died, I knew everything that could be done was being done. He had been prescribed a few medications for his seizures and his heart disease. So good to know they tried and couldn't help him. I can live with that. I would recommend Lloyds Animal Medical Center to anyone. Read Less

We've been clients of Lloyd's for 25 years. It started abruptly with their miraculous treatment and care after our dog's hit and run accident.Five dogs, all dear members of our family; each life a joy, each loss tragic (we're in the comfort stage now with one of our "babies").We've entrusted their care with Lloyd's without hesitation. On occasion, we've had to invest in speciality orthopedic or acute care elsewhere, but for primary care and expert routine surgery, we've always had full confidence in having Lloyd's be our chosen professional partner in our dogs' care. The entire veterinarian team here is very experienced and capable, but when the need for a specialist arises, they are well connected in the greater Boston area for referrals.Several years ago Lloyd's expanded their facility to add rehabilitation space, with water therapy. Having experienced two knee reconstruction surgeries, the recovery with water therapy was so much more successful with local rehab, than the initial surgery (elsewhere) with no follow-up rehab other than walking. We highly recommend their Animotion rehab as part of recovery regimens. Just as one finds the best fit primary care doctor for their own day-to-day health needs, we've found that best fit for our own pets' needs with Lloyd Animal Medical Center, and have been doing so for over 25 years. I have been going to Lloyd animal for years for my cats. I just recently took on two little cats. One needed some care, they took me in right away but their costs were all over the place. My cats were semi feral, so I understand they're different however, the bill went from 65 dollars all the way up to 300 with no warning. I had to return but advised I was not going to pay astronomical prices with no explanation. I went to make my appointment for spaying and was quoted nearly 265 each for pre exam/vaccinations and they wouldn't clearly state anything. 800 for spaying. Sorry but I hung up and will never every go back. Dr Kris and Dr Buffman have always been great, but not for those prices. I own animals I get the responsibility and costs. The girl on the phone was like 'oh you're going to have to go get a special trap too' She was a total moron to be honest. Lloyd's staff took the time to find solutions for all of them. The most life changing was for my 4 year old beagle that 3 weeks after rescuing her could not walk. It was due to a spinal injury I was unaware of due to the abuse she had experienced. I was told by another vet, $8000.00 surgery or put her down. I went to llyod's for to see if I got the same options. I did not. They worked on her with traditional medicine, acupuncture, laser therapy and swimming at Animotion Rehabilitation Center. I have been in the market for a new vet for quite some time. After moving to Stoughton I asked a couple of my clients for their recommendations - and they had nothing but good things to say about Lloyds. It was then I decided that I was going to make them my dog's primary. Tuesday 10/7/14 I had an emergency with my dog and up until this point I had not yet contacted Lloyds to switch her over. I called them around 7:45 AM and explained what was going on - they quickly scheduled me for 9:00 AM. When I arrived the clinic was very clean, updated and the staff was extremely warm and inviting. I had a simple form to fill out and handed them her vet records. I was in the exam room having my dog weighed exactly at 9:00 AM, no waiting which was great!! The vet decided that since my dog was still active, eating and drinking, that it was best for us to take a conservative approach. I had to applaud her for not pushing ultrasounds, x-rays, etc. when they were not urgent. We chose to send out a fecal sample and put her on antibiotics and probiotics for one week, then re-evaluate (unless of course her conditioned worsened). When it came time to check out, the bill was much less than I expected. They charged me a regular visit vs an emergency which was extremely helpful and surprising. In total the visit, fecal testing, and two medications cost me $140. I have peace of mind, a happy wallet, and my dog is already showing improvements! I am extremely happy with Lloyd's Animal Medical Center and have already recommended them to my other clients. Although the place is clean and thorough, it's also way overpriced, they constantly try to add on additional tests and fees (it cost me almost $500 last time I was there with two dogs and picking up foods). You never get to see the same people twice if you're like me and can only take your pets in on the weekends. I'm not even sure the same people work there from year to year. When you've got an appointment, they can't seem to keep it -- you're always waiting, often up to twenty minutes or longer on the weekend. They also discontinued carrying our cats' prescription food and we weren't notified until we showed up to get more. Since we were a bowl away from empty, that didn't give us the time to shift to a new food slowly, so all our cats were sick for two weeks. The final nail on the coffin is they are so afraid of losing revenue that they refuse to provide prescriptions for pharmacies that aren't them, particularly online pharmacies, despite the law saying they must. Last year I had to sign a waiver, and this year (the final straw) they are asking me to actually come in and get a physical copy of the prescription. This kind of action is simply making us jump through hoops hoping we'll be too tired to bother getting it and sending it elsewhere.I will never take any of my pets here again thanks to this lack of customer service.

Read Less

This place has a great history and rapport with the community and also supports a charitable practice through their rescue fund.Read Less

It is so wonderful to walk into a clean and friendly veterinary office and not feel like they are trying to rob me.Read Less

What a JOKE!! Be warned anyone that might consider using Lloyd for there animals. I can only conclude that there business practice is to adminstor services without telling you the pricing. Then they demand that you pay the inflated prices rates that they are trying to charge you. I think that it is only fair that you know how much your services are going to be before the perform. I WOULD NOT go there. Even if you are specific with what you would like done they are still going to do as they please and charge you what ever they see fit. STAY AWAY. Read Less
