Horrible experience bringing my older black lab here, to have his eyes looked at. Dr. Donahue immediately pushed to have the eye removed, which we were not comfortable doing with an older dog. We finally talked him into trying eye drops at least, before removing the eye.
Also, Dr. Donahue asks incredibly inappropriate questions, talks to my wife (an RN) like we're children, had awful bedside manners and is just highly unprofessional.
At one point we paid cash for a visit, and we got a call a week later asking when we are going to pay for the visit, because the Tech up front pocketed the cash and put in we paid with a Credit Card!
He also insisted our dog had cancer, insisted he ran tests for said cancer, and kept making remarks about how his father, girlfriend, uncle, all died from cancer and he knows what he's talking about. I'm sorry but we came to you for eye treatment for our old man, not for you to just start diagnosing cancer on every lump and bump on my dog.
The end point came when he yet again prescribed another medication for my dog, and when we recieved the meds, the outer packaging for the drops had our dogs name on it, but the actual dropper bottle had HIS dogs name on it. And it was already opened!
Completely unacceptable and I will never take any of my animals here, or ever recommend Dr. Donahue to anyone, ever.

Several months ago, much to my dismay and heartbreak, I discovered my young Siberian Husky had bilateral juvenile cataracts. Obviously I was devastated and anxious to have her seen by a top ophthalmologist. Upon entering Dr. Donohue’s office, I was immediately put at ease by the friendly and polite staff and the clean atmosphere. Dr. Donohue was amazing with my puppy! He was truly interested in getting to know her, put her at ease and spend some time with us before beginning his extremely thorough exam. She was seen several times before I made the decision to proceed with surgery. Dr. Donohue explained all the tests, treatments and medications that were to happen and personally called to see how she was doing leading up to the surgery. On the day of surgery, I was obviously quite nervous, and the doctor took the time out of his busy schedule to speak to me prior to surgery.I’m delighted to say, not only did the surgery go well but the entire outcome was positive. My Miska has her vision back, is pain free and looks phenomenal! I can’t say enough positive things about this practice.

We brought our recently adopted blind cat to Dr. Donohue and were very happy with the care and services at The Animal Eye Specialists. Dr. Donohue ran multiple tests (he was meticulous) and diagnosed our cat with multiple birth defects and other issues caused by neglect (he was a stray) which were causing chronic eye pain. Thanks to the great care there our cat is now pain free and a much happier cat. We would not hesitate to go back to Dr. Donohue if necessary and would highly recommend him to others. Thank you so much!

Don’t even think of bringing your family pet here. I have a one year old English Bulldog, Otis. This Dr. messed up my dogs entropian eye surgery by not properly diagnosing the entire problem leaving the dog in pain and in need of additional surgery. I had to bring him to Dr Sepchuk at VCA North Main St in Brockton. A Bulldog breeder and specialist, she performed additional surgery on each eye relieving the dogs tearing eye pain. Entopian is a common eye problem for dogs a specialist Dr. Donohue couldn’t handle. On top of all the above he tried to mussle my dog with a 2 foot length of gauze wrapping it around his flat face tieing it of behind his head suffocating him....I had to tell him to take it off. Bulldogs have a hard enough time breathing without their muzzle tied off. I couldn’t believe he did this in front of me.... I never went back.
Wish I seen these reviews before I went to him.

Dr.Donohue and the two woman that work with him were not only professional, they were so kind to us and my little old dog, Mitzy. I was a bit hestitant after reading the reviews, but went on the strong recommendation from my Vet. We are so glad we did. Not only did she recover quickly, she looks like her eye was simply erased and not frighteningly removed. Everyone comments on the clean job that he did and most importantly she is so much more comfortable. We are not only pleased, we are relieved. Going back over the reviews now, reminds me that some people are hard to please...

Our ten year old dog was diagnosed with glaucoma by her vet so we had her examined by Dr Donahue. She needed surgery. All our questions were answered thoroughly and the surgery was performed without issue. Our dog has made a full recovery and is no longer in pain. I highly recommend Animal Eye Specialists and would not hesitate to use them again if needed. Staff was extremely helpful and professional.

The sorriest day of my life was the day I walked into Dr.Donahues hospital. My dog is 16 years old and Dr Donahue said he could fix her cataracts for one price, and in the long run it was double before I went to somewhere else. A real doctor! Well just about everything that could happen did, consequently leading to complete blindness of my dog . The end of a very sad story on my behalf, If you love your dog never never never go there.

very disappointed with the level of care they charged me $1000 dollars for 10 mins of time and couldn't fix my dogs red eyes and then I caught them in a lie about a test they charged me $300 dollars for so instead of refunding me the money that they agreed too they double charged me, and there excuse was some people here don't know what they are doing. I question there ability to even run a veterinarians practice from the top to bottom

Extremely expensive. Charger for taking urine samples that we had to collect. When discussing the overall costs with receptionist, she stated things that later other employees said were not true. Lab lost the blood work. Was asked to come in before 6pm to take more blood and no one was there to take blood at 5:15pm when we showed up.I would be ok with paying for great service, but every appointment or phone call was torture.

Very friendly staff but I took my dog in for a cherry eye operation -The operation was successful. However, the avg cost for this operation nationwide is $350 but has been known to be as much as $1000...
Very friendly staff but I took my dog in for a cherry eye operation -The operation was successful. However, the avg cost for this operation nationwide is $350 but has been known to be as much as $1000 by some eye specialist vets (according to several websites). I was charged over $1800! Two other vets heard this story and were horrified at this cost.

I brought my dog here because he had entrpoia.(sp?) The vet could not even look at my dog unless we gave him pills to sedate him. We had the sugery and everything looked good until he took out stitches, immediatly after that his eye was just like before and he could not even open it. After spedning $1900.00 to have surgery we were told he needed it again and would cost approx $1000.00 do redo as well as we were told his other eye had conjunctiveitis (SP?). I decided to get a second opinion and took him to another eye specilist in Hanover, He told us the dog needs sugery in BOTH eyes, NEVER needed to sedate my dog to look at him and my dog loved him never growled or barked or anything. The surgery for both eyes will cost $1100.00. I really feel ripped off !! Seems the surgery was WAY OVERPRICED and he didn't even fix the problem!! Had to make my dog take pills that knocked him out the whole day everytime we visited (about 3 times). This new vet can handle the dog NO Probem with no medication necessary, said he stands behind his work and has NEVER had to redo his surgery! and cost less. I would pay whatever I had to to help my dog and fix his eyes...Just would like it to be fixed after I shell out all the money. Would not recommed this guy to anyone!

Horrible experience bringing my older black lab here, to have his eyes looked at. Dr. Donahue immediately pushed to have the eye removed, which we were not comfortable doing with an older dog. We finally talked him into trying eye drops at least, before removing the eye.

Obviously I was devastated and anxious to have her seen by a top ophthalmologist. We brought our recently adopted blind cat to Dr. Donohue and were very happy with the care and services at The Animal Eye Specialists. Dr. Donohue ran multiple tests (he was meticulous) and diagnosed our cat with multiple birth defects and other issues caused by neglect (he was a stray) which were causing chronic eye pain. Thanks to the great care there our cat is now pain free and a much happier cat. We would not hesitate to go back to Dr. Donohue if necessary and would highly recommend him to others. Don’t even think of bringing your family pet here. I have a one year old English Bulldog, Otis. This Dr. messed up my dogs entropian eye surgery by not properly diagnosing the entire problem leaving the dog in pain and in need of additional surgery. I was a bit hestitant after reading the reviews, but went on the strong recommendation from my Vet. We are so glad we did. Not only did she recover quickly, she looks like her eye was simply erased and not frighteningly removed. Everyone comments on the clean job that he did and most importantly she is so much more comfortable. We are not only pleased, we are relieved. Going back over the reviews now, reminds me that some people are hard to please...

Our ten year old dog was diagnosed with glaucoma by her vet so we had her examined by Dr Donahue. She needed surgery. All our questions were answered thoroughly and the surgery was performed without issue. Our dog has made a full recovery and is no longer in pain. I highly recommend Animal Eye Specialists and would not hesitate to use them again if needed. Staff was extremely helpful and professional.

My dog is 16 years old and Dr Donahue said he could fix her cataracts for one price, and in the long run it was double before I went to somewhere else. A real doctor! Well just about everything that could happen did, consequently leading to complete blindness of my dog . The end of a very sad story on my behalf, If you love your dog never never never go there.

Lab lost the blood work. Very friendly staff but I took my dog in for a cherry eye operation -The operation was successful. However, the avg cost for this operation nationwide is $350 but has been known to be as much as $1000 by some eye specialist vets (according to several websites). I was charged over $1800! Two other vets heard this story and were horrified at this cost.
