The care is fine. The wait is not.I brought my cat Jasper to MVRH because he was having urinary crystal/blockage issues, an ongoing problem for him. We got there at about 9 PM, and they put us in an exam room (that reeked of urine) and saw him almost immediately, which was great. The Dr. asked me some questions, weighed him, and then took him away for more tests. An hour passed without a word. Of course I imagined the worst, that he was clinging to life and they were desperately trying to save him. Finally at 10:00, the Dr. comes back, and says that he seems okay; apparently they were waiting for bloodwork results and those are fine; that it's just a flareup of the usual thing. Get him to drink more water, give him meds, keep an eye on him. Excellent. Let's go. "Should I wait here?" "You can wait here or in the waiting room." I had an outlet for my laptop, so I decided to stay where I was.And then, they left me there in the exam room. Fortunately, they had free wifi. After an hour, I came out to the front desk to inquire and was told, "They're all waiting to get their pets back, too," as she gestured to a waiting room full of sad and bored people. "What, all of them?!""Well, *she* is," she said, pointing to one particularly aggrieved-looking woman with her elbows on the front desk. "We're very busy tonight." Everyone just stared at me, and I slinked back into the exam room. The whole time I was waiting in the room with the door open, I barely heard a sound. Once in a while someone walked by. Once in a while I heard a dog bark. It seemed to me like a ghost town. Or, if they just had amazing soundproofing and were really busy, why didn't they need the exam room I was in?After two and a half hours at 11:30, my texts were getting increasingly agitated, so my husband decided he'd better come and relieve me before I started causing a scene. Or so I could come home and go to bed, but that's not exciting reading. At midnight my hero arrived, and the moment he walked in the front door, they told me Jasper was ready. I knew that would happen. I inquired, "Now as in now, or now as in a half-hour from now?""Oh, right now," said the front desk lady. I gave my husband a skeptical look."Go on home," he said. And sure enough, they kept him for another 45 minutes. There's just no excuse for this. I'm going to try the Angell location in Waltham next time. I'm not complaining about the cost; I went into this knowing it'd be pricey. And as I said, the care Jasper received was just fine. But I can't fathom why they would need to keep a pet owner prisoner there for four hours when they're done with the pet. Read Less
