Countryside used to be my family's go to veterinary clinic. I would give DR M no such stars for what he did to me and my dog- putting him to sleep without a sedative first. My dog was standing and then suddenly flipped over and died. I have never heard of anyone not giving a sedative first unless the poor animal was already half across the bridge. I'll never be able to get that terrible memory out of my head. As for the other doctors, they are the only reason I am giving this place 2 stars. Dr C was always kind and knowledgeable- and my leaving had nothing to do with her. Dr M and his manic wife are the reasons I stopped going. Oh, and the turnover is terrible of course. No one stays long- Dr M screams at everyone and treats them like garbage. Why would anyone stay? Read Less

My boyfriend and I took in a stray cat and took it to Countryside because it was close and they were willing to take us the same day. We met with Dr. M, and I was extremely happy with his care, attitude towards me as a new kitty parent and how he handed the cat - very gentle.Our cat suddenly (about 4 days later) developed bizarre symptoms - being very distant, not very talkative (didn't stop meowing since we found him) and he was acting almost drunk. We brought him into Tufts and had a follow up the next morning. They were extremely honest and transparent about his treatment - saying they would need to almost guess and check to se what it was since he was showing neurologic symptoms. Fortunately, it panned out and my kitty is now well!I rated 4 stars because you can feel like you get a bit lost but being re-directed to different vets within the same practice. They do make every effort to give you what you need when you request it, but the request can't always be fulfilled, especially when needing last minute care.Overall, I would definitely recommend this vet to a friend. I love the Countryside Kennel...the only place I'm willing to leave my dog when I go away...if not with a good friend. I have used them for years and the staff has always been wonderful with my dogs and I have returned to happy, healthy pets! If you need to leave your dog this is the place. Read Less

Our dog has been cared for by Countryside for 8 years now. They have been wonderful with us that entire time. We just recently had a scare with an illness, and took our dog to a major emergency veterinary center because it was after hours for Countryside and our dog's condition seemed urgent. The doctor/student team did not provide much more than a recommendation to run test after test after test and provide an estimate to work on another issue that we didn't even think was part of the visit that was in the thousands of dollars--with no guarantee that any of this would give us anything more than big bills and still possibly no dog or a decision to put him to sleep after all that--or before because we couldn't possibly pay that much. We followed up with Countryside, kind of resigned that we were going in for a little appointment that would do nothing more than confirm our unknowns, and the cost of the other issue that we learned was actually likely more related to his issue than anything else, and to have him put to sleep. Just an $80 x-ray later, and an estimate of about $250 of care to resolve ALL of the issues, more than a 1/4 the cost of the estimate at the big vet hospital, and we will have our dog healthy in under a week, with every indication of at least four more happy years of healthy, pain-free life. Dr. Massucco is an amazing human being, so kind, so caring, and down-to-earth. He "gets it" with aging dogs. Our dog has had lyme twice and we've been concerned about arthritis, etc. Countryside has really been amazing in treating that, helping him after he was attacked by another dog, and with general every year veterinary care overall. Their prices have been fair and they are flexible with having you come back to budget out care. You might pay a bit more in the long run with another visit fee, yet being able to actually budget things out has proved so helpful to us, and they package things to make sense, too, like heartworm, etc. They never push unneeded care or tests either. We cannot thank Countryside enough for the care all these years, and especially in this instance. We just had to come in here and write. Read Less

Love love love this vet. We adopted our pooch and these guys were highly recommended. They were very patient with me as I had them run every test imaginable on our pooch after we adopted here. Great team - everyone is always very friendly and smiling. Our dog loves visiting and they just know how to treat her. I highly recommend them. Read Less

Dr. M and his team are top notch! I had an elderly animal that needed lots of care right up until the end. Dr M. returned my calls and answered questions and prepared us for the end. I continue to go there with my other animals and  I am always greeted with a smile that is genuine! Read Less
