I’ve come here three times in the last couple of years, once for urgent care and twice for euthanasias, and I can’t say enough good things about Allegan. All my visits were at times my regular vet could not fit us in but the need was urgent. The walk-in hours, later hours, and Saturday hours are a huge bonus, but I was mostly impressed by how quickly we were seen and how compassionate everyone was from the front desk to the techs to the vets. We were able to stay with our animals the entire time and given space and privacy, when x-rays were needed I was surprised to have them done on the spot and reviewed immediately. Both the wait times and the costs are extremely reasonable and as an ex-vet tech myself it has everything I look for in a clinic: warm informal setting, accessible times, kind staff, modern equipment, knowledgeable and compassionate doctors who listen well and give practical treatment plans. I plan to use Allegan as my primary care vet from now on. Read Less

This group of excellent vets offers services at reasonable prices without the added pressure you feel from some other vets. I'm happy that now I can keep all 3 dogs totally up to date on their healthcare. Their walk-in clinic is usually really quick. Definitely grateful for this place saved my baby and her puppies after calling over 10 different places to try and take my girl to have an emergency C-section. They were the only ones who actually cared and had me bring her right in no questions asked. Not only does this place actually care about your animal they don't charge you an arm and a leg to take care of your animals needs because they're obviously not in it for the money they obviously care. I've known of this vet clinic for years now! They are amazing how they work with customers and their pets! We had to have our 10 yr. old German Shepherd euthanized yesterday because of cancer:( Our main concern was what would be the most comfortable and relaxing for him. The lady veterinarian worked with us in every way possible and I will be forever grateful to her. My baby passed quickly, comfortably and peacefully as possible thanks to the help of these wonderful vets! Other benefits of this office are services are walk in and they aren't money grubbers. I don't usually write bad reviews but I've been taking my dog here for years and I usually have a decent experience but the last few times I have seen the same vet and he is really rude to me and my dog does NOT like him. We even had to put a mussel on her for the first time ever. I didn't feel like he was helpful. He answered a question with a question and rolled his eyes at me the whole visit through. I actually walked away feeling stupid. I may go back but if I do, I won't take my dog if he is the veterinarian on staff. Read Less

My experience was wonderful! No names, a woman said that it was hard setting up a budget/financial plan! I totally disagree, I never been to your office, you didn't know me, you didn't know if I was an honest man who would pay the bill he owed, but still you gave my cats service, and I paid on the date I said I would which was a month after I visited for the first time ever. It was a reasonable/cheap price to pay to help my best friends, and truly I'll keep coming back for their entire life! My pets and I are 'lifetimers' at Allegan Vet Clinic. Miss Lippy is our 13 year old deaf dog, and our 4th pet to receive the tender loving care of the staff here. This is by far the best veterinary clinic I have ever been to. I live in downtown Grand Rapids and don't mind taking the drive all the way out to Allegan. They are very considerate and thoughtful when it comes to caring for your four legged kids. Read Less

I had to edit my review today, and add why i love this office after my equine farm call was done by AVC. The doctor came out to help us, as we are first time horse-owners. My horses had very detailed exams and the doctor was amazing with explaining everything to us. One of my horses needed his teeth floated but he was too stressed to even have his mouth opened, to the point of almost rearing up. To check his mouth, he was given a mild sedative but was still awake. The doctor offered to float his teeth while he was still groggy. She did an amazing job and gave him an extensive exam afterward. The sedative saved my big boy the stress of the float. She handled the horses with respect and confidence, making everyone (including me) much more relaxed. I couldn't be happier with how the appointment went. If you have horses, you need to use this clinic! I've also brought in my dogs and cats and they received excellent care.Read Less

I drive from about 45-50 minutes to get to this clinic. I love Dr. Weiss and the staff! Dr. Weiss has been a God send while we are dealing with end of life issues with our old 12 year old Pug, Malcolm. She has been so compassionate, and kind, but realistic in her approach and advice to us. We are very grateful for all of the care we are receiving and are no strangers to taking care of animals since we have several pets and have been to numerous vets over the years. We are pleased to have found this clinic on recommendation of a friend, and will not be going anywhere else!! Thank you Allegan Vet Clinic--- keep up the great work! We are new to the area and I needed to take my elderly 14+ yr old large (adorable) mutt in to get some more medicine for a reoccurring ear condition he has. I was also concerned about his age/condition and wanted a vet's opinion making sure I'm not hurting my buddy by keeping him around despite his age (pretty rare for a large breed like him to live this long.... he's outlived all of his littermates we know of by two years already). I read the google reviews of all vets in a 20 mile radius of where we live and decided on this place. The fact we plan to buy next year in the area the vet was located in was also a factor. I'm sooooo glad that I did. The office staff had smiles for us the moment we walked in. As I was told when I called and ask... this is literally a "walk-in" clinic, no appts needed! :) I'm hearing impaired so when I had trouble hearing the gal at the desk she immediately made me feel at ease and spoke up for me. After the initial check in we went into the waiting area. Based on my experiences with previous vets, I expected a vet technician to come get us but it was Dr. Weiss herself came for us which was a pleasant surprise. She checked my fur buddy all over and gave him the medication for his ear and a new medication for his arthritis pain (the previous vet just had us giving him two baby aspirins at night and it didn't seem to be what he needed anymore and I told her such). She was very good with Levi and answered all of my questions. Because he's elderly she told me about The Rule of Five Good Things to keep in mind in the coming months as I observe his comfort levels in life. The final costs with the visit and both medications was quite reasonable and all in all I'm very happy that I chose this place based on the other google reviews. My lab got hit by a car tonight rushed him to the vet they came to my car to help carry in and took care of him immediately. DOCTOR was quick to help our fur baby to get on track to recovery. VEry informative and was able to give us hope. Love this vet they will always be our first choice to take care of our babies. Read Less

I had an urgent situation with my American Bully and my vet couldn't see her. The walk in clinic was a godsend. She required a minor surgical procedure and they were fantastic. She was done in a short time...the vet was an absolute sweetheart and the cost was much less than I thought it would be. And by the way my dog is a pit bull type and I felt NO discrimination toward her. I also saw several pit bull types there while I was waiting. This is not my usual vet but in emergencies they are the closest. Last night my dog stepped on a hook and needed emergency care. I am pleased with how well they handled the situation and how much they cared for her. However I am displeased by the fact that when asked what breed she was and informing them that she was a pitbull, the doctor immediately stopped and said "oh.. I better grab a muzzle.." I have never had a bad experience here. My cat was ill to the point she should've died but the staff was ever so persistent that she survive that she lives today to catch more mice and other "buggies"!
