The Cat Practice, which opened in 1981, is Michigan’s first cats-only veterinary hospital providing advanced preventative and medical care with an emphasis on early detection to help cats live longer, better and healthier.

Everyone is so friendly and genuinely cares about the well-being of our cats. They are thorough and gentle and try to put our cats at as much ease as they can during a stressful time. I love that when we go, there's maybe one other person in the waiting room. I've been to other vets and clinics where this was not the case and it just added to our cats' stress. It is well worth it to me to go to a cats-only vet just for the fact there are no loud dogs, let alone that they probably have more in-depth knowledge and understanding of cats and their issues than a general vet would. The waiting room is comfortable and stocked with coffee, phone chargers, reading materials, and a TV playing Simon's Cat videos, though I've never waited long enough to need any of these things. There are also lots of items you can purchase for your cat, ranging from toys to catnip to medicine. Overall this is a wonderful place to bring your cat. I'm not having kids, so my cats are my babies, and I feel very good about bringing them here.

Let me start by saying that we always had a great experience bringing our cat to the Cat Practice. Everyone was attentive, knowledgeable and very accommodating. But it was during the worst time for us that the staff really stood out. We suddenly learned that what we thought was an impacted tooth was incurable mouth cancer, and we made the hard choice to put our beloved cat to sleep. My husband, who adopted our cat 11 years ago as an 8 week old kitten, and I were beyond devastated. Everyone at the Cat Practice was so unfailingly kind and sensitive to us, letting us spend two hours with our meowzer and hold him until the end. They even sent us a sympathy card to follow up. I don’t wish this situation on any cat owner, but we know we can count on the staff at the Cat Practice in a dire situation. We are still recovering, but when we’re ready to get another cat, he will only go to the Cat Practice.

The Cat Practice focuses specifically on cats, which makes the experience more calm for my cats and more focused their specific needs. They spend lots of time getting to know you and your cat and don't rush you. They also allow you to be involved and listen to your opinion. I would highly recommend them!

It's an absolutely awesome cats-only clinic. There entire staff is very professional, knowledgeable and personable. I've been taking several cats there over the past 12 years, and wouldn't take them anywhere else, except when I took one to a cat opthamologist they referred me to. He was totally awesome, too.

All of the staff here are friendly, knowledgeable, and really seem to love cats. They also do a good job dealing with any worried pet parents. By far the best vet I've ever been to.

They are simply the best. When I moved to SE Michigan, I tried the recommendations of friends for a vet but was not satisfied. My vet in Chicago (who I'd been with for 17 years and is one of the best there) recommended Dr. Houlihan. Are they a bit more expensive? Sure, but worth every penny. When it comes to the care of our furry family members, it simply isn't worth it to budget shop, if you can help it. These are all "cat people" here...every one of them and I trust them absolutely. I will never take my babies anywhere else for their primary care.

I had never taken Jazz to a cat-specific vet before but the Cat Practice exceeded all of my expectations. It's a very soothing and welcoming atmosphere. The exam rooms are very cat friendly (no exam tables, bench seating, clean and organized) and everyone there is more than willing to sit on the floor and enjoy getting to know you and your pet. They let me come back to help calm Jazz while she was getting blood drawn and it was very zen there too- plenty of space. The staff was very patient with me and showed me how to apply the medicine properly and even gave Jazz catnip at the end. On the way home she was so happy - it's the first time she didn't meow constantly while in her carrier. If you have a cat - take them here!!

My first visit exceeded my expectations. My cat Picasso was quite difficult to say the least, but the doctor and all of her staff were so genuinely nice and concerned. The tech Michele was patient and compassionate with our fussy feline. Dr. Larsen was very professional and had a very kind and respectful demeanor about her. She was very thorough and answered all of our questions. The atmosphere at this clinic is very warm and cozy. You immediately feel welcome when you walk through their clinic door. I would highly recommend this practice to anyone!

My first visit exceeded my expectations. My cat Picasso was quite difficult to say the least, but the doctor and all of her staff were so genuinely nice and concerned. The tech Michele was patient and compassionate with our fussy feline. Dr. Larsen was very professional and had a very kind and respectful demeanor about her. Everyone is very friendly and genuinely concerned for the wellbeing of our feline family. It's great to be exclusively for cats without barking dogs in the lobby like I've experienced at other vets. The boarded overnight guests seem happy to be there and it's nice that they allow them some freedom to roam around in the back rooms. Nice to have a vet clinic we can trust!

Everyone is so friendly and genuinely cares about the well-being of our cats. They are thorough and gentle and try to put our cats at as much ease as they can during a stressful time. I love that when we go, there's maybe one other person in the waiting room. I've been to other vets and clinics where this was not the case and it just added to our cats' stress. It is well worth it to me to go to a cats-only vet just for the fact there are no loud dogs, let alone that they probably have more in-depth knowledge and understanding of cats and their issues than a general vet would. The waiting room is comfortable and stocked with coffee, phone chargers, reading materials, and a TV playing Simon's Cat videos, though I've never waited long enough to need any of these things. But it was during the worst time for us that the staff really stood out. They are simply the best. When I moved to SE Michigan, I tried the recommendations of friends for a vet but was not satisfied. My first visit exceeded my expectations. My cat Picasso was quite difficult to say the least, but the doctor and all of her staff were so genuinely nice and concerned.
