I have a yellow nape amazon parrot and a collie. It is extremely difficult to find an avian vet that knows what they are doing, Dr. Engle is excellent with my parrot. I lost my last collie due to bladder cancer. The care and treatment they gave my collie in his last months were outstanding. He lived 9 more months with top quality of life because of Columbia Animal Clinic. I now have another collie pup and I wouldn't even THINK about taking him or my parrot anywhere else except here. They are friendly, helpful, answer all the questions you have (and I ask a lot of questions) and treat your pets as if they were their own. TOP QUALITY VET.

There are plenty of good veterinarians in the Brooklyn/Jackson area- for the sake of your pets choose one of them over this one. If your pet has a life threatening situation she will wipe her hands of it at the end of her day.This clinic is just that- a day clinic. Dr. Engel is the worst veterinarian I have ever encountered. Her personal schedule is more important to her than the animals that she is responsible for or the mental well being of their owners. If you have an emergency near the end of her work day she doesn't care and is willing to walk out even if it means that your pet could die. I am considering litigation.

Dr. Engel would not stay overtime to save my dog from dry drowning. She cares more about going home by 6pm. She will attempt to send you all the way to some clinic in Ann Arbor in an emotional and panicked state rather that just be a good vet and stay long enough to save your dog. Her rushed advice was to put him down or attempt to do a professional treatment I'm unqualified to do by myself at home with no experience ( it involved giving shots and applying medical oxygen). Basically what she said to me was "go away- it's not my problem this late in the day". I now know from the internet that if she had treated him his chances were for survival was over 60% to survive. She did what was what was the easiest course of action for her own day, not what would be best for my dog because she didn't have the caring or the time to help me , or sit down with me so I could make a good decision. I wanted to tell her no- I still wanted to save him but she wasn't slowing down enough to even make eye contact with me- let alone even bother to hear everything I was saying to her- which was I wanted to try and save him. One of her staff offered to dive me all the way to Ann Arbor and was told by her not to. I have PTSD- it was my emotional support dog. I was emotionally freaking and I needed HELP and didn't get the help I needed. She is not about emergencies- just annual worming and exams. Things that keep her on a cushy schedule. If I had went to a different vet this would have been handled differently and my dog would very probably still be alive. I wouldn't take a hamster to her now.

We have been taking our pets to Columbia Animal Clinic for about 8 years. We currently have four cats and one beagle dog. The doctors and entire staff are dedicated to the best care available at all times. The doctors are engaged and personable, able to explain at length specific conditions and the appropriate treatment. They hold us accountable for proper day to day care by giving us the knowledge and tools to do so. One of our cats was deathly ill and through their guidance and treatment we were able to bring him back to a healthy, happy life. We are still enjoying his company some 3 years later. We are completely happy with our relationship with Columbia Animal Clinic.

I've been a client of Columbia's since I moved to Brooklyn nearly 12 years ago. They do a great job taking care of me and my ever growing menagarie. The whole staff is knowledgable, caring and flexible with my sometimes erratic requests :-) Most importantly however, they include me in the decision making that relates to the care my animals receive.

We have been taking our pets to Columbia Animal Clinic for about 8 years. We currently have four cats and one beagle dog. The doctors and entire staff are dedicated to the best care available at all times. The doctors are engaged and personable, able to explain at length specific conditions and the appropriate treatment. They hold us accountable for proper day to day care by giving us the knowledge and tools to do so. One of our cats was deathly ill and through their guidance and treatment we were able to bring him back to a healthy, happy life. We are still enjoying his company some 3 years later. We are completely happy with our relationship with Columbia Animal Clinic.
