Nope Nope Nope Nope. Bad customer service. Just bad. They have really gone down hill the past few years. Dr. Fraley is a jerk and Dr.Gavin is unprofessional. They will wait over a month to give you test results, and I have to be the one to call them. i will call them for the test results about 5 times and each time the rude receptionist that works with Dr.Fraley tells me that Dr.Gavin is on vacation so i cant find out if my dogs kidneys are failing because hes too busy not doing his job for the 6th time this month. She has told me about 6 times in 1 month that he was on vacation and that i cant have my test results until he comes back and that i have to sit here and wait with a sick dog. You guys are out of your mind. you do not have the best interest of the dog. you have the best interest in your pockets and its absolutely horrifying to watch. Dr.Fraley refuses to refer to my dog as its name, instead she calls it something very offensive, which i will not repeat. She has been calling my dog this name for years and every time i correct her and she still goes on to do it. also one time i called about a possible broken paw and the receptionist told me "not to be rude but honestly this isn't like anything major, so you are gonna have to wait 4 days until we have an opening available". My dog crying and having a broken paw isn't major to you? I am officially done with this place. they have absolutely walked all over and bullied me, my wife, and my dog and i am done. its terrible how you treat your patients. Read Less

HORRIBLE!!! stay away! They act like money grows on trees. the staff is SOOO rude. The doctors tell you how toxic the medication is to dogs yet FAILS to give you proper directions on how to use it. Cancels appoinments 4 times 3 minutes prior to appointment time. When you walk in and the staff is on the phone, they will give u the "hold on" finger as if u were interrupting them.... I DIDNT SAY ANYHTING LADY... get ur finger out of my face. I once brought my dog in for his hurt leg and was told that if it doesn't get better in a few day to bring him back in for another appointment..... are you serious. you're just trying to milk out 2 appointments from 1 injury, RIDICULOUS. Dr. Gavin is better than Dr. Fraley. Dr. Fraley is SO mean to smaller dogs. she always tries to get you to pay more and do unneeded vaccines. if your dog is every there for more than 2 hours, he will come back dehydrated like mine has EVERY SINGLE TIME. I like Dr.Gavin but he is not worth the stress of his staff. go somewhere else. i promise it will be better for ur dogs health, ur stress levels, and ur pocket. I noticed an issue when they handed me unmarked pilled in an unmarked bag and i physically COULD NOT give it to my dog because i could not trust them anymore because they have made so many mistakes with him. you should not feel that way about your dogs doctor. If your doctor handed u unmarked pills in an unmarked bag would you take it?? And if you didnt trust that doctor enough to take it, would you continue to go to them? Read Less

If I could, they would be getting a zero. My dog went in for a visit, and was startled (on top of him being in pain from an infected foot)- so barked at the dr when the dr was coming into the room. Without getting more information on his behavior or even suggestions- like offering a muzzle, which most offices have, if the dr felt unsafe- kicked him and my boyfriend out. Before my boyfriend even said a word, the dr told them they needed to leave. Without even being concerned about my dogs infection. The dr then went as far as clearing the lobby as they walked out because they decided our dog was aggressive. Now before this happened, he saw other people and other animals, in the lobby and was near the check in person, to get weighed; and didn't bark or act aggressive once. In the past he is protective, but once you get him in the back room away from us- he is docile. I then called them asking for a call back from the owner. The dr called me back instead, then let me talk about the appointment for a while before interrupting me to tell me I was wrong and that they were the dr involved. We didn't have their name as they didn't introduce them self at the appointment. I cannot believe this is a business that is supposed to treat sick animals and then turns hurt ones away if they bark. He is not vicious- he was in pain. Then to not have the owner call me when I asked, and wait to tell me you were the doctor instead of the owner- only to argue with me? I could never imagine going back to a place that wouldn't even TRY to treat a sick dog. Our first visit there was amazing; our dog was there for shots, never barked once and loved the dr. I wish we had gotten him again. Read Less

Dr. Fraley: Total lack of professionalism. Does not keep up to date with current treatments available for felines. Not knowledgeable of feline behavior. Operates in a reactive vs. proactive manner. Claims to be caring & compassionate but her actions/reactions are hypocritical at best. Our 19 year old Turkish Angora €Fuzzy€ had been seeing Dr. Fraley for close to 7 years. All of the following listed as €FACT:€ is common knowledge on Google and has been confirmed with a Board Certified DVM feline expert we consulted for 2nd opinion. Blood work showed kidney disease. High levels blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine and anemia present. We began regular SQ fluids and appetite stimulants to attempt to bring the disease under control. We asked why Fuzzy was eating her cat litter. To which the response was, €I've never heard of that before.€ FACT: Felines with anemia will eat clay litter in an attempt to replenish iron content in the blood. We asked if there was a treatment to help with the anemia. Her answer was €no€. FACT: Yes there are 3... Iron Dextran Injection is the first of the the 3 options. We asked if there were additives to the SQ electrolyte fluids that would be helpful to the condition. Answer was €not needed at this time. Increase dosage from 100 ml daily to 100 ml 2 times a day€. FACT: Should have been on Lactated Ringers with Potassium chloride 20mEQ 10ml b from the beginning. Fuzzy started having seizures (5) in a single night last week. Time spacing between seizures every 3.5- 4.0 hours. got her in to see Dr. Fraley at 8:30 am with a half hour to spare before next seizure. Prescription was wrote for Phenobarbital which I was told I could pick up at any pharmacy. FACT: 4 Pharmacies within 5 miles did not carry the dosage prescribed (Meijers, Family Fare, Rite Aid, and Walgreens) 2 of the pharmacists said they could order it which would take at least a week and we'd be lucky if any pharmacy in Grand Rapids carried it. I asked if a diazepam injection could be given to prevent next seizure. I was told that the injection is only given when the animal is in the middle of a seizure. FACT: The injection could've been given and would have prevented the next seizure that had to be experienced in the car, while driving, less than 5 minutes from leaving South Crossings. The next set of blood work drawn came back the same day because a rush was put on it by request. The next call I receive from Dr. Fraley later that day was a recommendation to have Fuzzy euthanized because of the blood work results and she would alert Dr. Gavin that we may be in the next day. After all these other things had already been stacking up over last 3 weeks we, the entire family, decided to seek a second opinion from an expert instead of an ears, nose, throat DVM. I requested last Monday that ALL of Fuzzy's medical records be transferred to the other Veterinarian who performed the radioactive iodine treatment for Fuzzy 3 & 6 years prior for the 2nd opinion. Which was the same expert that Dr. Fraley had referred us to in the past. FACT: Only the last set of blood tests were faxed. Nothing else of the 4 week history was sent. Here is my final break point: FACT: Dr. Fraley calls my cell phone 2 hours after I request records be transferred. She begins to chastise me stating verbatim, €I have been caring and compassionate towards your family and Fuzzy during this time. I have called you after hours to address needs & concerns. You have lost faith in me as Fuzzy's doctor. I don't believe I can work with you or Fuzzy any longer because you have lost faith in me.€ Excuse me? Deny treatment... that's caring and compassion at its finest, now isn't it. It is every patient's and patient advocate's right to seek a second opinion from a specialist without being chastised. It is also a patient's right to have complete medical records transferred to another doctor. It doesn't matter whether you're a medical doctor M.D. or a doctor of veterinary medicine D.V.M. it's called professionalism Read Less

Dr. Gavin and Dr. Fraley treated our first black cat, Midnight, for 15 years. Midnight was a stray and an indoor/outdoor cat so he had to have several operations to stitch him back together after his too close encounters with other animals. We were always so pleased with everyone's compassion and expertise, especially when Midnight was seen during the last few days of his life. Dr. Fraley wrote a very touching note to us after Midnight died. Now our new black cat, Ace, is being seen for routine exams. I am very pleased that when I took him for a dental exam last Saturday I was told that he didn't need to have his teeth cleaned for at least a year. I appreciate their honesty and their friendliness! :) Read Less

I will never go back with my pets again. I came in with my very sick dog and the receptionist told me it was by appointment only. No doctor would be there until 4:00. What did I want them to do about it? Absolutely nothing! Thank you for showing absolutely no concern for my dog. When you have on your website that you open at 8:00, you really should mention you can't do anything for anyone until the doctor gets there at 4:00. Read Less

South Crossing has served us and our pets (cats, dogs and horses) for over 25 years. We have had an excellent experience of care, concern for our animals' health and well-being, and kindness when we faced the cancer of our beloved Great Dane and later, our lab. We highly recommend both veterinarians and their staff. We are grateful for their expertise and care throughout all of these years of pet ownership. We highly recommend South Crossing Veterinary Center to anyone who has a beloved pet! Cheryl Blair Read Less
