We've been taking our family dogs & cats here for 30 years and are always pleased with the level of love and professional care they receive. We typically make an appointment in advance, and as such are typically in an exam room within a few minutes. You can certainly pay more elsewhere, but I doubt you'll receive more. Great office. The front desk is caring and nice (you can't say that with all vets). When you call, they are nice and helpful. The vets are great! Again, caring and honest. Also...it's not crazy expensive. It's fair and worth the 25 minute drive for me. I have three furboys and they weren't even nervous while there. Read Less

These guys are really good and I didn't feel over charged at all. My little dachshund had a hurt foot and we almost took her downtown to emergency but South Kent strongly recommended that we wait until their foot and leg specialist was in at 9am. We kept my dog comfortable as we could for a couple hours and took her to south Kent and I'm so glad we did. As soon as you go to the hospital it's at least a thousand dollars. It was taken care of for only $152 total. Money isn't the most important thing when we're talking about a loved one but it sure did feel good to have my dog taken care of so well and to not have to dip in to my savings account for it. Great staff! Very compassionate! Very carrying. Place is very clean. Best prices vs vets in Grand Rapids, Michigan. They saw my German shepherd since he was like 8 months old till his death at 11 1/2 years. They were so amazing through all those years!! Best place to take your pets. Read Less

My family has gone here for over 20 years and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I have moved a few times during that time and no matter how long the drive was I still staid here. All of the staff is very friendly and very passionate about there job. They also have really good pricing for all of there care from just regular vaccines to surgeries as well. Read Less

A wonderful vet with caring, professional staff willing to see every animal. We took our daughters chicken in and they were so sweet to her. Our dogs are also customers here and the staff does great with our Pitt Bulls anxiety. They make sure he trusts them and that he is comfortable. Easy to get a quick appointment if needed. Read Less

If you love your pet there is no better place to be. The doctors are extremely competent and very caring. The support staff are excellent. The facility is spotless. Even if they were on the other side of county I would still go there. Their prices are fair. They never take advantage of you on hard to get or expensive prescriptions. Bottom line, they are absolutely trustworthy. If there is something they can't help you with, they will find someone who will. I wish I could get healthcare for my human family that was this good. Honestly one of the best vets around. My boyfriend and I recently moved from Caledonia to the Lansing area, however we make the drive back to SouthKent Vet for our cat because no place compares! Worst experience I have ever had at a vet. We were quoted a price considerably cheaper than our normal veterinary office so we cancelled our other appointment to schedule at Southkent. When picking up the cats, I was told I owed $200 more than quoted, and was told it was impossible we were quoted the other price... which had been verified when setting up the appointment. I would have never switch from our normal vet to pay $110 more. I was able to meet with one of the owners, who was very decent about the matter, but the staff at the front counter was not. My girlfriend had called to the vet last night to talk to someone about the matter. She was told she would receive a call back after 8:00 p.m... She never received a call. She called the office again today and spoke to Brenda the Office manager. Who was very rude, and when Brenda was told that we would not be returning, my girlfriend was told, that's a good thing because they didn't want our business. I will not be returning, and will make sure to not recommend Southkent to anyone, but i will be sure to let people know about the experience, and the extremely rude office staff. There was never a price sheet shown to us, no authorization paperwork was signed at drop off, or pickup. again, not everyone on the staff was bad to deal with, but there were a select few that more than made a bad name for everybody. The only name that i can remember specifically is Brenda. A customer should never be told that their business, and money, is wanted, especially when it comes to treating potentially sick animals. The point of the phone calls after picking the animals up was not to cause a problem, or get money back.. it was just originally to try to make sure things like this don't happen, and a simple "I'm sorry that this happened" would have been appreciated, which when i talked to the doctor he did offer me a kind gesture and assistance in the matter, but the office staff did not, and only made the situation worse. I was going to let the whole situation be history until the response today. Please know, I am very unhappy and dissatisfied with the customer service we received by your staff, and I am no longer going to just let this go. I sincerely hope no one else has to go through this, and you teach your staff to handle situations like this with more tact and to be more pleasant than they have been. Read Less

This vet office is one of the best in MIchigan in my opinion. They are reasonably price. Some prices are higher than others some are lower so it evens out in the end. But this veterinary is not at all about the money. They truely care about their patients (animals) They have always went above and beyond good customer service and I would highly recommend them to anyone. There is another vet that does farm animals and pets as well. There are a little cheaper on some things but very expensive on others because they dont have the equiptment that southkent has so they have to send it to a lab. The office staff at the other vet is very rude. Just remember if you decide to go there remember you get what you pay for.
