Good vet. I love that they have doors from the outside into every room, so that you can bring your pet directly into or out of the exam room without going through the lobby. The only negative is that there is a gap under the bench in the exam room that is just big enough for your cat to wedge itself under. I've taken my fur babies to Pattersons' for years. I have two rottweilers and have never had an issue with them. They have always been helpful with answering questions we had. I want to give a big thank you to the staff here. I had to do the one thing every pet owner dreads; put one of my animals down. Through the entire process, I was well informed, given every bit of time needed to say my goodbyes, and met with care and compassion every step of the way. Once we were given our private exam room, I didn’t have to step out once to do paperwork or even after saying goodbye for the last time have to go through the lobby, while visibly upset. Every exam room has a private door leading to their parking lot. They also did a phenomenal job taking care of my pup when she was spayed. January 2015: Outstanding vet care for our Maine Coon cat that suffered a head wound jumping into the floor joists in the basement ceiling. He's doing fine and is recovering nicely. The Patterson staff is great and while we hope we don't have to bring any of our animals in for this type of care in the future, we know they'll be there ready to help if we do. I showed up early to fill out the paperwork, and still had to wait in the waiting area for about a half hour, even though there was only one other person waiting. If I didn't want anything extra like a microchip it was frowned upon, as was not wanting to get my dog neutered. When it comes to my dog's healthcare, I will only deal with Patterson and the fine staff of doctors. My dogs, Sampson and Lila, are tremendously different with regard to behavior. The knowledgeable and compassionate staff at Patterson knows this and knows how to deal with each dog extremely well. 15 year old dog started walking crooked, trembled all day while sleeping. Called Patterson, thought was time to put her down . While discussing her behavior Dr, Wilson checked her out and thought she might be in pain. Supplied some pain meds, and we were so relieved she didn't recommend bloodwork, x-rays , cat scan etc. We were visiting for holidays, and leaving soon. Dr. wanted her comfortable for trip. I have been going to Patterson for about 10 years. All the vets there have demonstrated professional competence and compassion for the animals they treat and the people who love them. Dr. Zalac has always provided me with elegant and simple explanations of my cat's situation and given me options so I could decide what was in the best interest of my pet as well as my budget. She also has directed me to specialists when needed. I have never felt as if there was any attempt to get me to spend more money than needed. On the contrary, she has always been sensitive to save me money where possible. Because of her recommendations, my 15 year old cat who was suffering from an obstruction to his airway now thinks he is a kitten again. Dr. Zalac and the vet techs were also there for my other cat at that most sensitive time when euthanasia necessary. She gave me a Valium to give to him on his last day so he would not be anxious when she and the vet tech came to the house to give him the final injection. he never suffered. She had told me about surgical options for him and was realistic about the projected outcome. She was fully supportive of my decision. My kitty died peacefully at the end of a happy day, pain and stress free. I also want to mention Dr. Hildebrand who is a wonderful vet. The only reason she is no longer the primary vet that I see is because of our conflicting schedules. She is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate; an excellent vet. At various times I have seen other vets at Patterson, all of whom have been very good with us people as well as our pets. The only negative I have to say about the place is that usually there is something of a wait time even if you arrive on time for your appointment, but I guess this can't be helped since sometimes people run a little late and sometimes things require a little more time than scheduled. I'd rather wait a little and know that when it is my turn I wont be held to a strict schedule and rushed out after my allotted time just so the business could run like clockwork. Read Less

My cat had been seriously injured before she was given to me, she apparently had the wound for most of her life - a polydactyl with a cut between her toes where she had extra nails. I had thought it was healed, though I began to have concerns when the claw began to yellow and the wound started to stink. I did what I could for her, and had feared I was going to have to drop at least a grand to get it fixed - considering this had been going on for years so who knew how deep the infection was. I took her in and they removed the bad claw and gave me two types of antibiotics - on top of rabies shots and other care and it came to just under 300 dollars and they were so good to her and so considerate of me, I was so relieved once it was all over and done with I actually cried. They had to leave the wound open as to not sew the infection in and I'm happy to say she's completely healed. I would recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone, the facilities are clean and quiet and the staff are great and all our pets love going there as best they can. Read Less

Dr Patterson took the time to look him over (including scanning him for a microchip), tested him to ensure he was safe for my other pets, and vaccinated him. I have high energy German Shorthaired Pointers that are field trained and working dogs. I discovered Patterson Veternary Hospital when I moved to the area 6 years ago. My many visits have included general care, stitches and 3 major surgeries. I recently brought my older dog home with me on vacation from Texas just so Dr. Patterson could do the surgery. The doctors are not only knowledgeable, but compassionate. They have an obvious passion for what they do. Most importantly, they take the time to listen to my concerns and explain options thoroughly.The entire staff is awesome! They go out of their way to make my dogs feel comfortable and loved. This is the first veterinary practice that I have ever been to, where my dogs can’t wait to get inside. The staff is professional, get me in quickly, and return my calls as soon as possible. This hospital, while decent at caring for animals, is really unfriendly. The people there talk about the clients behind their backs and when they get an animal that they are tired of seeing they constantly tell it to ""go see Jesus"". I was unimpressed with their unprofessional attitudes and they treat their interns/shadows terribly. I'm not even sure they follow sanitation rules. I have always taken my pets to the local humane society for vaccinations and routine check ups. So, in the event of and emergency or problem I am usually stuck going to the humane society. Since they are not very equip to handle more than routine issues, they refer me to very pricey specialists. I decided to do some researching of my own and stumbled upon Patterson Veterinary Hospital. I found a lot of positive reviews and the negative ones seemed more like grumpy old men, rather than reasonable complaints. The vet whom checked my dog was very educated and explained everything very clearly, I felt she was very personable. I was expecting to pay at least $100 for the visit, but my total was much less than that. The prices are very affordable. I would recommend them to anyone who needs a great vet. We have been going to Patterson Vet over 25 years. Dr Lapplander has lovingly taken care of our animals in the past and even come in on his day off to do an iv on our dying dog;however, the care I have received recently has been appalling. We owed 300$ left on our 3000 bill. We just adopted 2 new pups and when we brought them in, the vet himself told me we need to settle the bill because ""We are not a free clinic."" He did not say hello to me or even to the new pups. No one said hello in the office. I felt like a charity case. I cannot believe that I would get treated that way over $300 which we have been paying 100$ monthly. It just seems lke they are in it for the money now and less caring. 2/3 vets there I would not take any animals to. Not one person fussed over the pups or welcomed them and the manager said,They cannot walk on leashses yet?"" They were 9 weeks old. That was rude. I would like to start out by saying that I do realize that some people may have bad experiences with a business. In most cases it is because the client is rude, pushy, and plain disrespectful. I don't know about everyone else but I would think that if I was treated this way, I probably wouldn't be the nicest person back. At Patterson Veterinary Hospital the staff does a phenomenal job at serving the pets as well as pet owners. I have experienced many people in my 8 years of veterinary care come into the hospital arguing and demanding that their pet be seen at once. The receptionists do an EXCELLENT job at working everyone in as soon as possible. One woman sitting next to me started complaining because her dog wasn't seen on time, yet she knew that a dog had just come in that was hurt by a car. People like this put a bad name to themselves and try to put a bad name to Patterson Veterinary Hospital. The receptionists as well as a doctor and veterinary technician explained that her dog would be seen as soon as possible. They were quite apologetic for the delay and actually compensated her bill for this delay. They are very professional and clean. The patient rooms are cleaned after every appointment by their friendly kennel-aid staff. They aren't the type that clean and are never seen. They socialize with the clients as well as bring dog and cat treats out for the ""patients."" The doctors explain the procedures that are necessary as well as offering other services like teeth cleaning and vaccinations. They are very informative and I am quite comfortable leaving my ""family member"" in their care. If there is a problem, they are always willing to work things out with the client and they are also very comforting in the death of a pet. The patients are cared for by actual Doctors and not just the kennel staff or even the veterinary technicians. If I had ANYTHING negative to comment on I would, but there is honestly nothing that I can say. I will always take my pets here! Read Less

Though my cat was a new patient ( I currently have my dogs there as patients) I called with concern for her health, and they said to bring her right in. Dr. Fox was the Dr to see Pumpkin and was so caring and so professional. She took so much time to explain all that was happening and made my children and I very comfortable . I spent approx 2 1/2 hours there, spending time with our cat, and was told to take all the time we needed. When we did leave, I had noticed noone else in the waiting room, and assumed the clinic was closed for the evening. No rush from any staff as to clinic hours. Ive been to other clinics in the past, and noone compares to the Dr's and staff at Patterson. Incredible experience! From the moment I walked into this hospital, I could tell that all staff members genuinely cared about animals. I was nervous about my animal's surgery, but quickly reassured upon meeting not only front desk staff but mostly Dr. Patterson. He is a wonderful veterinarian! He was gentle and kind, took my cat lovingly and explained the procedures very well. It was much easier to leave our family pet for surgery because of his reassurances, knowledge and obvious love for his work. My cat was returned to me healthy, well taken care of and had received superior care. It was a very long drive to this hospital for me to have my cat treated but I would gladly drive twice as far to receive this care again. Kudos to Patterson Veterinary Hospital!!!!! Its my job to know where to go, the best places to go to in macomb county as I am a relocation specialist. My pets have been going to Patterson for about 7 years. I was refered by several residents of an apartment community I mananged who gloated about the wonderful service they have received from all the Doctors. My cat had an anxiety problem and my cat made herself very ill. They were very senstive with my cat's issues and offered many treatments. On one occation, the doctor called me to discuss my cats issues. We discussed several options and treatments for nearly half an hour- on the doctors time over the phone. That was for free. That alone showed me how much they care. They really put a whole lot of care into their work. I am truely impressed by the professionalism and love of animals the doctors and office staff represent. The rates for all treatments my dog and cat received were always reasonable, the office staff attention to me and my pets was top notch, and the office and patient rooms were very clean. Making an appointment has never been a problem. Conveniently my appointments have been with in a day or two, sometimes within the same day. I have never had to wait long in the lobby before seeing the doctor. Unlike chain vet clinics, my experiences at Patterson was personable and most importantly the doctors were trustworthy. I now live quite a distance away from their office and make the drive to their office. By no means would I trust my babies in the hands of anyone else. Read Less

I CALLED AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR THAT AFTERNOON BECAUSE MY DOG WAS VERY SICK. I GOT THERE AND THEY HAD NO RECORD OF MY APPOINTMENT. THEY SAID THEY WOULD SQUEEZE ME IN NEXT AND I WAITED FOR OVER AN HR BEFORE THEY EVEN GOT ME IN A ROOM. THE STAFF WAS VERY UNPLEASENT AND UNHELPFUL, I GOT SHORT SNAPPY ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS. THE ROOM WAS VERY DIRTY AS WAS THE COUNTERS THAT THE ANIMALS WERE TO BE PLACED ON. IT TOOK OVER AN HR FOR THE VET TO CHECK MY DOG OUT BECAUSE HE WAS IN AND OUT OF THE ROOM NUMEROUS TIMES, IN TOTAL HE SPENT MAYBE 15 MINS WITH ME. HE NEVER WEIGHED THE DOG, OR CHECKED HIS EARS AND THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME MY DOG WAS SEEN AT THIS VET SINCE I HAD JUST GOTTEN HIM. A MEMBER OF THE STAFF CAME IN WITH MY BILL AND I HAD THEN ASKED HER FOR A BAG OF THE SPECIAL FOOD BRAND THEY CARRY AND SHE GOT AN ATTITUDE BECAUSE SHE HAD TO REDO THE BILL EVEN THOUGH I WAS NEVER ASKED IF I NEEDED ANYTHING FURTHER.
