I have been to Hamilton many times as my dog had epilepsy that was progressively getting worse. Throughout the process I felt the staff lacked compassion and attention to detail. One day when we came in for blood work, Dr. Mann walked right by us without even acknowledging us or asking how my dog was doing (even though we had been in there quite regularly at this point). Then a few days later an employee called with the results, and left a voicemail telling me to double the wrong medication! Ultimately my dog did pass away from a bad seizure, and when I called to ask if the emergency clinic had notified them, someone gave me an awkward statement along the lines of "Yes. We heard. How sorry for him." We ended up receiving a sympathy card in the mail, but I still felt my dog deserved better. I gave two stars just because we were always seen right away and never had to wait. Our pet loves Dr Mann. He has been very good to her. Dr Mann has help us a lot with our diabetic pet with information on how to take better care of her. The staff is great with the families of the pets. I would recommend them very highly. Read Less

I have been going to Hamilton for over 20 years. Dr. Hamilton was a caring, competent and low cost vet. Upon his retirement and sale of his practice I continued to patronize Hamilton Animal Hospital. I found Dr. Mann to be a step up from Dr. Hamilton. While his methodology was different, I sensed that his knowledge and demeanor was state of the art. Upon reading other's poor reviews, I found them to be unfair, and unjust. If you go here with an open mind, I think you will find a doctor that cares deeply about the health of your pet, and has the knowledge and background to keep them healthy. Additionally, the office is clean, and modernized, and the staff is attentive and supportive. Not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for. Read Less

I was skeptical as well after being a patient of Dr Hamilton for nearly 30 years...but over the past year Dr Mann and his staff have proven themselves to me and I wouldn't take me fur babies anywhere else.  Dr Mann knows his stuff and handles my furry friends with skill and kindness, always taking the time to explain things and address my concerns -as does all his wonderful caring staff. I feel like a huge pain in the ass most of the time, but they never give the impression I'm troubling them at all. My little dog was nearly dead a year ago from a rare disease that needs frequent monitoring and care for the remainder of her life,  and is thriving today because of the love and attention at Hamilton Animal Hospital. They ALWAYS get us in, or at least will speak with me on the phone to ease my mind. Sharon is amazing at the desk, as Sherry handles my babies with love and care as if they were her own. We were going to Dr. Hamilton for many years and liked him. I was nervous about the new vet, Dr. Mann, but he has been great.   When our dog needed her teeth cleaned Dr. Mann told me he would call afterward to let me know how our dog was. . . we didn't have to wait all day to find out.   When our dog needed to be on an IV for the last 3 months of her life Dr. Mann was very informative about what we were doing.   When it came time to put her to sleep, Dr. Mann was very compassionate. He spent time with us, told us what would happen, and gave us as much time as we needed to be with her to make our final decision. He took her in another room to put an IV needle in her leg, brought her back into the room to spend more time. He told us to call him back in the room when we were ready. It was the end of the day and they never rushed us. We received a condolence card in the mail the following week signed by Dr. Mann and each staff member.   I recommend him highly. Read Less

Dr. Mann and his assistant run a top notch business. I have never been to a better vet. He took all the time in the world needed, ran all the tests, diagnosed our kitty with his condition on the spot. I cannot praise him enough. We spent a lot more money on a vet in Birmingham a few days prior, and she did nothing that Dr. Mann did. Very reasonable, very professional, wonderful "bedside-manner." So glad we found him. I, like many others, am really picky when it comes to taking my fur baby to vet. I pick out doctors out for Lucky like I would pick them out for myself- and I would NEVER have taken lucky there if I had known that Dr. Hamilton had retired. This was within the first week that Dr. Mann had taken over and let's just say he had absolutely no idea how to handle my dog. Keep in mind, Lucky is a 23 pound miniature dachshund (aka a weenie dog!) He tried to take blood from Luckys neck and everybody who knows the slightest thing about animals should know you never touch an animal neck unless you know them because they will attack.  Lucky isnt the kind of dog that would attack and he didn't even attack him but I just didn't like the fact that he went straight for his neck. Lucky has been going to Dr. Hamilton  for the past six years and he always has taken blood from his paw and when I told him that he told me that he doesn't know what he's doing that there's a larger vain his neck. Strike one. Don't go against my word. This is MY dog and if I ask kindly to take blood from his paw, then respectfully do it. Lucky started freaking out because some heavily sweating fresh outta college dude was poking at his neck. Strike two. Lucky was freaking out and getting so scared they tried to remove him from me and take him into a different room to try to get his blood. When he picks him up to take Lucky away looking made the scariest sounding noises and actually defecated himself on the nurse. I kinda lost it at that point and had to yell at them. Their only response was that " Dr. Mann was bitten earlier that day and other dogs could sense it." No kidding you were bitten! You don't know how to handle dogs!!!!!!!! Poor lucky was absolutely exhausted after this whole ordeal.He's farrrr more expensive than Dr. Hamilton too. I no longer take lucky here and wouldn't recommend him to anyone else. ATTENTION: Dr. Hamilton has retired. So while he was a compassionate and attentive vet, his replacement is most certainly not.Dr. Mann (sp.?), the new vet at Hamilton Animal Hospital lacks bedside manner, shows little compassion for grieving families, and has rude office staff. Recently, my mother (who has been a client of Hamilton since ~1976) lost an elderly cat. In the process of euthanizing the cat, Dr. Mann repeatedly attempted to remove the cat from the room (to perform the euthanizing) against my mother's consent and then charged her for services not performed and the staff had the stones to argue the charges with her. Also, they have a creepy/unsettling deal with their cremation company. Apparently, they give free mass cremations, but gouge pet lovers who want a private cremation (charging 100% more than the average going rate for a private cremation). It doesn't seem right. I'm glad that my mom has chosen to leave this practice after almost 40 years. Read Less

Dr. Hamilton has since retired, and Dr. Mann has taken over.  Both are great, informative doctors to work with.The staff, Christine & Ginger, are awesome.  I call and say I need to get Flash in for an allergy shot, and since he's been going there since a pup, they don't even question who is calling.  I love that!Their rates beat most, if not everyone in town, and when I would ask Dr. Hamliton for a script to take w/ me because I could get it cheaper, he would ask me for how much & where.  Althought I was sad to see Dr. Hamilton retire, I've only had 2 appointments with Dr. Mann, but he has given me no reason to think he is any less than great, and he is bringing the company into the 21st century w/ a website! I love going to see this Vet...AND his lovely staff of ladies!! I was referred by a co-worker a couple of years ago when I adopted my first Pug. I love that one of the Ladies is a long time Pug Mom, and she predicted that I'd add another to our family....and we did. Dr Hamilton takes a good long time with us, never rushed, very calm and gentle. The prices are great, it's very personal and warm. I, too, used to live in close proximity, but have since moved. Dr Hamilton is extremely knowledgable and will be honest with you. Its very clear that he loves animals and loves what he does. He is also reasonably priced too. We had to take our cat in and after finding out that our cat had an untreatable terminal disease, they didn't charge us for the visit. Very nice people there and they will take care of you! I first chose Hamilton Animal Hospital because of the closeness in proximity to home. Now that I live at the other end of the world, they're still my animals doctor because quite simply, it's worth the drive. Dr. Hamilton and his staff are some of the nicest and most attentive people I have ever met. They pay attention to details, always remembering my pets names and finicky habits without having to even glance at a chart. Normally, my animals get a bit skittish when they're out of their comfort zone, but the calming and friendly demeanor of Dr Hamilton and his staff puts them right at ease! The fees for procedures are beyond reasonable, and the care they provide is second to none. I highly recommend this place for both canines and felines alike! Read Less
