I felt JUDGED here. And, I have waited months to write this to see if I feel any different, but I don't so here's my 2 cents.I brought in a stray outdoor neighborhood cat that a neighbor was regularly feeding for a check up and to vaccinate her. When I got to the clinic there was no one in the waiting room. There were no audible signs of pets in the building, and there were no animals visible through the glass doors and windows. 1. I brought her in a pillow case with her body inside the pillow case and her head sticking out with a gentle knot around her neck. I do not own a carrier, and I never will. I know it is more comforting to a pet to be near their owner and heartbeat and listen to their voice. They badgered me into brining a carrier next time. "Next time you'll bring a carrier right?" I DON'T OWN ONE AND I WON'T BUY ONE. Hell, I won't even borrow one.2. I used some liquid promethazine to sedate my cat. "Where'd you get it in liquid form?" ...Well I shouldn't use it. I had never taken this cat in a car before and I was not sure how she was going to react, so yeah, I gave her a lower dosage of this. I used the dose for a 9 month-old cat on a big, adult cat. Back story: The promethazine was prescribed by my old vet in California for my other cat as we drove all the way from California to Michigan. And guess, what, no cat carrier the whole trip! The judgment didn't end there.3. Did I know that "my" cat is overweight? Well, I am not blind, of course I know she is overweight! She's been overweight since I met her. She scavenges for food all the time. There is not a moment in her day when she isn't thinking about her next meal. This is what happens to stray cats who are constantly in hunger mode! Geeeeeez! They charged me around $140 for their services. They made me feel like I was the worst pet owner because I drug my pets, I don't have a cat carrier, and the cat is overweight. Here I am taking in a stray neighborhood cat and making sure she is well and covered, and paying good money for their services and I get telling-to like a little child. I am a nurse practitioner, I am licensed to prescribe and treat humans. I can titrate, I can dose, I can monitor for side effects. I got this. Back off the commentary.I used to bring my California cat in on a harness and a leash to the vet in Ann Arbor, and she would walk around the waiting room. I have also brought her to the vet in a pillow case. And I have also brought her to the vet sedated. None of these things were concerning to the vet or staff.Never again. I will drive miles and miles away just to go somewhere else. I try to "keep it local" and keep money in the city. Read Less
