When our chocolate lab got sick back in November, Village was the only place that could get him in right away. We sadly knew he wasn't coming home, but doctor Hone did everything she could to try to let us take him home. Sadly, he didn't come home, but they took great care of us. 3 months after he passed, we decided to get another puppy. He has been seen by doctor Hone (and our 2 year old dog as well) many times and she and the staff are just amazing. Let's see where to begin. My dog chipped her back molar on an elk antler so I looked up dentists so I could get it fixed. This place was recommended by a friend. I took my dog there totally trusting Dr.K. My dog had a root canal done that cost in the range of $1700.00. After the surgery was completed she seemed happy. As the days went on I noticed a horrible smell coming from her mouth. I looked in her mouth and the gum Β area where the root canal was super red. So I took her in to see Dr.K. Dr.K barely even looked in her mouth and gave me an antibiotic subscription and some mouth wash. We went home and her mouth seemed to get better. Dr.K assured me that the gum area would close up and the issue would resolve its self. I keep up with daily brushing of my dogs teeth and she is super healthy. I noticed in the next few weeks that that tooth was super yellow no matter the amount of brushing I did. At this point I was getting super pissed. I spent almost $1700 to save my dogs tooth and it's turning yellow!? I went and got a second opinion. Dr #2 stated that the surgery was completed improperly bc there was no sealant applied to the tooth and gum area to protect the tooth from collecting plaque because the enamel was broken off. Dr #2 recommended that the tooth be pulled. Of course after spending $1700 on this surgery I was reluctant and really wanted my 3 year old dog to keep her molar ( which was the whole point of me doing the root canal instead of pulling from the beginning) So I kept brushing and keeping the area clean. Fast forward 6 months and her gum area was still red and sometimes if I pushed it a little puss would come out. I had enough. I made an appointment with Dr.#2 to have the tooth removed. Dr#2 stated the tooth was super infected and accessed. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL. THEY DO A POOR JOB AND ATE OVER PRICED. Read Less

I adopted Grandma, 14(?) year old German Shepard/Chow mix. She weighed only 40 lbs. She had very poor oral health and was in pain. A friend insisted that I take Grandma, who was very frail, to Dr Kavanagh since she considered him the best high-risk dentist. I believe that decision saved Grandma's life. Before Dr. Kavanagh performed oral surgery, she could hardly eat. She now has a much brighter future. Dr Kavanagh is a Miracle Worker to me. I can't thank him enough. I took my cat her two years ago for detail services that my regular vet could not preform. It was an overall awful experience. I will never return to this vet office. I was disrespected by a member of the staff and Dr. K. I was paying an ungodly amount of money and when I asked questions to the member of staff about the procedure and cost associated she gave me attitude. All I was trying to do was understand what exactly I was paying for. The final insult was when I specifically asked Dr. K if he would be available for questions when I came to pick up my cat. He told me he would be. When I arrive an hour or two later I was told he left early for his vacation and there was no one else around to answer my questions. All Dr. K would have needed to do is give me a call to let me know he was leaving and I would need to ask my questions over the phone. I would have been happy with that. Instead I arrived expecting to talk to Dr. K and have my questions answered and instead he had left early for is f***ing vacation. I'm sure he goes on many nice vacations given the crazy high prices they charge for even the smallest of tasks. Avoid if at all possible! Read Less

I highly recommend the services of Village Animal Clinic. While not the most traditional pet, the vet and the entire staff provided top notch service for my pet bunny of 9 years. They ensured that any health concerns I ever had with her were always thoroughly addressed and explored and they did so in a manner to cause her as little fear and anxiety as possible for a 2.5 pound bunny rabbit. I credit their exceptional care and service as a key role in her long, healthy and happy life. After she passed away at 9 years old, the concern, compassion and support I received from them was so appreciated during the difficult experience of losing a pet. The staff working here are idiots! I had an appointment with Dr. Kavanaugh to see three of my cats for dental work. I patiently waited for three weeks and even got my cats up-to-date on vaccines that they really didn't need. Anyway, the staff literally called me a few times per week asking for my veterinary shot records. Myself as well as my veterinary office were tired of them losing the information. So, they finally tell me that everything is great and I am good to go for my appointment. I get a call from them less than twenty-four hours the day before telling me that they are canceling my appointment because they want additional fecal testing, heartworm testing FIV, and rabies vaccination on a five month kitten and my other two cats. This is the first I had ever heard about any of this additional testing and I felt it was very unfair of them to give me such short notice. This is just some of it. They tell me that they are canceling my appointment unless I get this done at my veterinary office or theirs...Preferably theirs. Honestly, I find this is blatant coercion into forcing me into vaccinating my animals with poisonous vaccines. Reluctantly, I had gotten my two older cats distemper and rabies. No Feline leukemia and heartworm. Forcing people to vaccinate their pets is morally wrong and unethical. They just wanted extra money. I made a new appointment with a vet dentist in Ann Arbor who only requires pre-op blood work. Read Less

I had the displeasure of taking my dog to this office for 2 years while I lived in Farmington because it was down the street. Every time I went in the staff was tolorably friendly and they did their job. NO ONE there seems to have any passion for animals though. I would always have to dodge ""extras"" they wanted to sell me. It was bareable for a while until I had a simple question for the vet assistant about my dogs skin and she got the vet to answer-- the vet proceeded to tell me basically it could be anything without actally listening to me and then tried to sell me $150 in stuff to see it if would help. THEN they charged me $45 because the vet talked to me for 10 minutes... which I didn't actaully even request her to do. Plus, I could have had better luck on Google to find an answer. Bottom line, if you want to pay more to have uncaring staff treat you like your taking a car in for repair and not your fuzzy family member to the doctor, go ahead and go here. Read Less

They know us by name (I mean who would remember a cute German Shepard puppy who broke his paw at only 12 weeks lol) and call us the day after our appts just to check up on the pups. I won't take them anywhere else! Read Less

The staff at Village Animal Clinc is so welcoming and knowledgeable. They made me feel like Grandma and I were part of their family. They answered all my questions, some before I even asked. I recommend Village Animal Clinic highly to anyone looking for excellent pet care. Thanks to all who work there !!! Read Less

If I ever have another pet and move back to the area, Village Animal Clinic will definitely be where I go for any animal care needs.Read Less

Read Less
