Animal Health Clinic Accepting New Patients

Tired of paying so much money to get rude/pushy service. Got a reminder of 3 vaccines needed... called to see how much. Was quoted $123 PER VACCINE?? consisting of Leukemia, DPRTC FELINE 3 YR, AND Feline -Rabies Vaccine 1 year. That is $369 total PER CAT!! plus fecal flotation additional. That is $728 for 2 cats. Either the lady on the phone did not understand when I asked bluntly ....sooo that is 123 per each shot, per Leukemia shot, per ..... etc. or they are just that expensive. Either way I am fed up. Called Fenton Veterinary Clinic down the road and quoted $32 per each for shot mentioned. Would never recommend this vet. Only reason I went originally is because they have Saturday times..after 2 years... never again. Read Less

We took our cat Bandit in for his second rabies shot - they had administered his first shot (good for 1 year) last September just after we moved to the area. After the shot, I learned it was only a ONE year vaccination. I had a dog and two cats prior to this - and the 2nd and subsequent rabies vaccinations were always 3 years - that was true for every vet I'd ever gone to, and even municipal rabies clinics. I didn't know that any follow up rabies shots were even 1 year - I thought they were automatically three year. I asked why it was only 1 year?? - The receptionist told me that cats' rabies vaccination are only 1 year vaccinations. I questioned that based on long personal experience, and my other cats getting 3 year vaccines in the past. She didn't know - she said she would ask the vet and get back to me with the information. She called and left a message for me yesterday - they do offer both 1 year and 3 year feline rabies vaccinations - but they generally 'prefer' to administer the 1 year vaccine - because it's good for the cat to get examined every year. Uh-huh! Well, we were NEVER offered a choice, and we should have been given the options! And I've also now read, in researching the matter, that vets prefer the 3 year vaccination because it cuts down on cats risk of a certain type of carcinoma FROM injections; fewer shots, less risk! IF they recommend an annual exam, that's well and good - but don't give a cat needless injections - just recommend the EXAM, or send reminder cards, or whatever!!! I have the feeling they 'prefer' the 1 year vaccinations because obviously they make more money and profit from administering 3 shots vs 1 shot. Shame on them for making the decision for us - not even offering a choice!! We'll never go here again! Read Less

I've been taking my dogs to Doctor Sandy for years. I trust her completely and would recommend her to anyone. She is always willing to go the extra mile for her clients, and if I ever have any questions, she gets back to me right away to help. There's no high pressure sales pitch to recommend things you don't need. All of the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I've always gotten right in at my appointment time. My dog got attacked by another dog, bit right in the face under her eye. She's 14 years old and I've never had an experience like that. She was acting ok i was not because her face was cut open. The front Desk lady saw me and my dog and asked to you have an appointment? Yeah I made an appointment a week ago about my dog getting attacked. I didn't say that but was mortified. The vet was good, told me I did the right thing by coming in immediately. But even though it wasn't busy my poor dog and I had to wait 2 hours back in the room. She was in so much pain rubbing her bloody face against the walls. I was on my knees crying thinking she was dying I needed reassurance. They did do a good job with the surgeory 15 stitches. Inside and out. And my dog healed quickly and has just a little scar. I'm grateful for the help but the front Desk secretary older woman needs a little lesson on how to greet and help dog owners feel reassured and that they came to the right place. Read Less

We've been taking our dogs to Animal Health Clinic and Dr. Sandy for 13 years. They have a top notch facility and we trust both Dr. Sandy and Dr. K to do what is best for our pets. We do yearly blood work yearly and find that very helpful in finding issues that can usually be dealt with. They always can get us in to see a sick dog on a moments notice. The staff is friendly and both Dr. Sandy and Dr. K are very informative about treatment plans. We've been to different Vets throughout the years and we highly recommend Animal Health Clinic for your pets needs. They always give you an estimate of services and if you are not comfortable with the cost they always leave it up to you to decide. They are very thorough in their examinations and have very up to date equipment. If they can't provide a service (such as ultrasounds) they set you up with a specialist. Read Less

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. I love everyone here. They go above and beyond for my rats and treat them like their own fur babies. I wouldn't trust anyone else with the care of my girls. They also get to know their human clients which makes the experience here even better. Read Less

This is by far the best place I have ever ever taken my fur babies too, The first time I met Dr Sandy I couldn't beleive the care time and knowledge she has to take care of absolutely any thing they need or that I have questions and concerns about, Dr Sandy and her brilliant team make my fur babies feel at ease on every visit , I have now been taking by fur babies there for nearly 5 years I have 3 dogs and two cats cared for by them at all times. Just recently I had to kennel my dogs in a near by place for the first time , my buddy boy was a little more than upset and Dr Sandy was there with Composure to calm him down. If you want a vet with animal passion , knowledge and simply a progressive office for animals and continued search for all things brilliant to enhance you precious pets lives. After losing my precious pug unexpectedly due to the negligence and arrogance of the vet we saw-I've been resentful and mistrusting. I chose AHC as my new vet mainly because they were close but also because they'd always trimmed my pug's nails with no hassle and at a reasonable price even though we weren't clients. I recently had an emergency with one of my cats I dreaded dealing with a vet. However Dr K's willingness to listen, her kindness and compassion but especially her willingness to go over and above with research including a consult with another vet has restored my hope and my trust. Sadly I agree with other reviewers about the money issues. This was the first and will be the last time I use this business. I had taken in a stray cat and before adopting out wanted to ensure he had his shots and was healthy. I normally would use my current vet -- Briarwood Veterinary in Grand Blanc --- FANTASTIC group --- but couldn't get in during the time I needed. So I tried this one. The long and short -- the first visit ended with me challenging the bill as I was going to be charged for a fecal test not even performed. The second visit I was told was only for a 2nd vaccination and the original fecal test. I was ticked when they gave me the estimate. There was a wellness check that was never explained to me, an OSHA fee which has NEVER been on any vet bill I've had, and an additional vaccination my cat needed that I was never told about. But to top it off the technician was EXTREMELY unprofessional, throwing a tantrum twice and slamming doors in the process. I refused some of the "treatments" including the wellness check and even then they charged me for a technician fee. RIDICULOUS!!! They clearly pad the bill and expect people to just lay down and take it. I HIGHLY recommend using another veterinarian office. So sorry I went to this business. Read Less

Today was our first appointment and I wish we had switched when we first moved here. My dog is 7 and this is the first good vet experience I have had with him. Before today, going to the vet was a big chore because he was so scared. Today he was calm and happy. The staff was wonderful and explained things so well. This animal clinic saved my family's cat this week! She was dehydrated and on deaths door. She had been seen by another vet elsewhere and was rapidly getting worse. My dog, Haley goes to Animal Health Clinic so I decided to bring the cat into AHC. Within 48 hours the cat was hydrated, eating on her own and purring again. I KNEW that AHC would do everything in their power to help this kitty. So impressed and I can't say enough how genuine the entire staff is at all times. No one ever gives the impression that you or your pet are a nuisance..which can happen when you're an over protective animal lover/owner and you call several times to check on your pet. (Which we did). The staff was very thorough with the cats exam/intervention and follow up care. If miracles can happen and there's hope for your sick pet..bring them to AHC!!! If something CAN be done to improve your sick/dying animal..or even healthy pet...rest easy..because it will be done at this clinic..no exceptions. It's hard for me to give a Fenton business such a low review as we always support local business and went here instead of driving to our normal vet about an hour away.Animal health Clinic may be good at throwing "Ladies Night Events" but not so good with a precious family member... your pet.-- Overpriced (when I saw the bill when they did little to nothing my jaw dropped, my regular vet would have been 50% of what they charged)-- Doctor tried to act like she cared but it was painfully obvious she did not. Only saw the doctor for about a minute then she disappeared and a tech came in the room. Still got charged the $45.00 "doctor consulting fee" (in addition to the other expensive charges). Basically the Doc did nothing and didn't care but tried to fend otherwise. -- You will pay for a doc but receive a tech that has no idea what's going on (but she is nice)-- Take your pet to a REAL doctor that will REALLY tend to your loved pet My pet was very sick and I asked "what else we can do?". She says go home and give him the medicine and call us in the morning. So I go home and look up what I could do to help my pet and I saw ALL THESE OPTIONS that the doctor and tech never even recommended! :( I call back in the morning to let the them know that we have all these other options and "why didn't the doc treat my pet with the other options" (in a nice respectful way) all I got was a tech (not a doc) on the phone who puts me on hold then comes back and says... "I"m sorry that's all we can do." Huh... but I just mentioned some things that you didn't do that could and still should be done? And she didn't care ... just basically said "Oh well" in so many words. So instead of prescribing my pet the med's he Needs to help him stay alive (which is something she should have given him in the first place) she Refused to do so and pretty much gave up on my little guy. I DO NOT recommend you taking your well loved pet to this vet as they only see you as a quick $. And it has to be the most expensive vet I've every been to. When I saw the bill my jaw dropped for the little to Nothing that they did. And I was okay with paying a $1000 bill if it got that high as I just want my buddy better... but after I called the next day to mention he was not well and to ask why the doc did not do some of the treatments that should have been done (after educating myself) I received no answer and the doc / tech could not of cared less. I would pay anything to save my little buddy even if it was overpriced but she refused to give my pet the proper care and it was apparent she could care less which hurt even more. I'm so disappointed right now cause I could have drove to my vet and she would have taken him in for the night, give him a IV, a shot of antibiotics and the Real medicine he needs but instead...... I have been using Dr Sandy and Dr Susan at the Animal Health CLinic for over 8 years now. The entire staff is WONDERFUL!!!!! Always feel my pets and myself are treated with the utmost care, respect and sympathy during those hard times. They have given me options and thats more than most vets do. They always give 2 and 3 and 4 options for the situation so i can choose whats best for me and my pet. They never say "This is what we are going to do". I have met lots of other vets who do that. I believe options are better. Thats what I love about Animal Health Clinic. They are extended family! Read Less

Shopping for a new vet I called Fenton Vet clinic, the location and hours were perfect for me. Since cost is a definite factor I called in advance to get a run down on pricing for vaccinating my dog and 2 new kittens. All of their rates were higher then my current vet but the Saturday hours were a plus for me. I was told that to vaccinate each kitten it would be $132.00 each, I thought that was high, but I had no idea exactly how high. What I was not told on the phone was that kittens vaccinations require a series of 3 shots which would mean 3 visits and at this office they charge an office call per kitten per visit, I did not find that out until I got there for our appointment. To charge office call fees of $35.00 for each kitten for the second and third vaccination visits is ridiculous, since my visit I have called two other vets in our area and they also say it's ridiculous to do so, those vets both charge an office call for the first initial visit but not the second and third because it is just not right and quite frankly a rip off to do so, any office that does should not get your business. Long story short, within 10 minutes of arriving for our appointment an emergency came in which I do understand happens, I have sympathy for the pet parent of the injured animal. But, what this meant for me was, that an appointment that should have taken less than one hour ended up taking three. Even though the vet was busy with the emergency I should not have been left waiting. They did appologize but seriously three hours and all they can say is ""sorry"" and ""Thanks for being so patient"". What choice did I have it was some sort of hostage situation. Given my final bill, what I should have done was get up and leave after the first hour I could have saved myself a tremendous amount of time and money. My appointment for one dog rabies vaccine, heartworm test and meds and flea treatment for 3 months and two kittens first vaccines, and flea treatment ended up costing me $385.00. YIKES! Every vet I called said that was outrageous, especially the office call fee for returning vaccinations. Oh, and just for the record, to spay a kitten at this office I was told it would be $250.00. Can you say highway robbery? Call any other vet in town and get thier pricing, you will see what I mean. The highest price I found at the other vets I called was $147.00 and that included the 3rd series of vaccinations. My advice: If you have ridiculous sums of money to spend on your pets then this office may be perfect for you. But, for me since I have other bills to pay each month and do not have the luxury of money to waste, I will be going to one of the other vets that I called, I simply cannot afford this one. The techs, vet and staff are all very nice, the facility is nice, the location and hours are great but for me the cost is far too high. Read Less

My dad is a little grumpy & outspoken but the ladies there always treat him with respect (quite a feat). But beyond that & most importantly they are just amazing with his dog. They always explain all of the charges, often offering to get more that one estimate for my dad & are always willing to answer our many questions. Sometimes things seem to cost a lot but once explained we can understand the reasoning behind it, and really the final decision is ours. I know my dad appreciates the time they take with him to explain things in a way he understands. He says he'll never go anywhere else with his little Punkin.
