We discussed a new treatment for my dog and the staff were able to contact a distributor while I was still there. They offered me a month free of the new medication to see if it would work. Very friendly and caring staff. I have had my kittens here for check up and sick visits. At each visit Dr. Prelesnik rubbed a pheromone on them to help calm them down. The Dr and staff took their time to listen to me, answer my questions, and even took the time to teach me how to properly trim their nails. Even though my kitties hate the car ride they are happy to see the staff. When I had sick kitties they were very accommodating and got them quickly. Never thought I'd be yelping about a vet, but this was so unique that I had to. Our english setter Maggie got sick and between blood work and ex rays it seemed she had an extremely infected uterus. She is ten years old and was still intact. Always a specimen of good health and vitality we decided that the chancy surgery was worth the risks. When Dr. Sarah opened her up she found the spleen was enormous and it looked like we were going to say goodbye to our girl. In a phone call (with the dog opened up on the operating table) I told her to go ahead and put Maggie down, since she thought it was for the best. Five minutes later she called me back and said that when she lifted the spleen to show her fellow care givers she noticed that the mass appeared to be contained and she thought there might be a chance to save Maggie. Again, I took her professional opinion and let her take the spleen as well as reproductive organs. A spleenectomie is a specialized surgery usually performed in grand rapids, but since she was open and on the table it was a risk that had to be taken. Since this operation usually involves blood transfusions and they don't carry blood at this hospital it was even more delicate. She woke from surgery, and when we took Maggie home she had a 25% chance of making it. By Monday we knew she had made it through. Dr Sarah was more like a sister than a doctor and treated our dog like a part of the family. She literally sat on the floor and talked to us in a very open, honest and informative way. It was clear that she cared deeply, as much for our feelings as for the health of our pet.Maggie continues to recover and is nearly back to normal, now three weeks after major surgery, and I know that it was because of the love of her family, prayer, and the loving, knowledgeable care of Dr Sarah. Thanks to Dr.Sarah's p/t "fill in" DVM my 6 week old rescued kitten had to have BOTH of her eyes removed.This p/t "fill in" DVM prescribed/gave me steroid drops for my kittens' chronic conjunctivitis. The steroids caused **major** damage to her eyes- causing them to have to be removed- Dr.Sarah would not even do the surgery stating the kitten was just so young/tiny-she referred me to Dr.Bader in Holland. I took the kitten and her eyes were so bad, he said the surgery couldn't wait and did it right away. When I showed him the medicine given to me by Dr.Sarah's part time DVM, Dr.Bader just shook his head- I knew it was the medicine that caused the damage just by Bader's response seeing it( and Dr.Sarah's too)! I still keep thinking to myself, and I PAID for that appointment /hurting this baby AND the eye removal surgery? UNFORGIVABLE! Read Less

I foster kittens through Heaven Can Wait, over the weekend one of the kittens that was in my care developed a large inflamed spot between the toes of her back foot. It even got to the point that she was not able to bare weight on it any longer it was so painful. Dr. Sara and staff were able to get her in Monday morning and even worked around my busy work schedule. Fixed the kitten right up and she is back to her spunky self.
