I cannot say enough positive things about Breton Village Animal Clinic, Cascade Animal Hospital and Dr. Anderson in particular. Our 8.5 year old cat, Phoebe, unexpectedly suffered from a blood clot shower one morning and I frantically ran her to the closest vet which was Breton Village Animal Clinic. This was my first time being to this clinic and the staff treated Phoebe with such love and care, as if she'd been seeing them for years. Over the next few days, Pheobe's condition worsened and Dr. Anderson took the time to respond to our calls despite it being Memorial Day Weekend. Her condition worsened to the point that we had to take her to another emergency vet in town in the early morning hours, this other vet feeling cold and heartless in comparison. We took Phoebe home and drove her to Dr. Anderson at Cascade Animal Hospital when they opened to be put down. During such a traumatic time in our lives, Dr. Anderson approached Phoebe's situation with compassion and honesty. We trusted her opinion, knew that our beloved cat was in great hands, and felt at peace with our decision. A week after putting Phoebe down, we received a sincere handwritten card from Dr. Anderson herself. This just proves how much care and compassion these facilities show the animals and their families. When our hearts heal and we're ready to welcome another pet into our lives, we will without a doubt be taking them to Breton Village Animal Clinic. Read Less

Cascade animal hospital truly is the best vet I’ve been too. They have such a caring staff and people who actually care about your experience there. I brought Rico in for a nail trim and Lia from the reception desk remembered that I had left my free dog treats and receipt from my last visit and was so kind to set them aside safely for me until I came in again. My sweet dachshund Bubbles is only 3 years old and she injured her back on a weekend. I was terrified! Her regular vets office isn’t open on the weekends but luckily Cascade Hospital for Animals is! We were able to get an appoitment on a Sunday morning with Dr. Denison who was wonderful! The whole staff was so sweet and helpful. I highly reccommend this place! My dog is like family and when he developed a limp in his hind leg I noticed immediately. I waited two weeks and tried medication at the advice of my local vet to no benefit. I was concerned about possible surgery, associated risks, and the possibility he may never walk on all four legs normally again. After meeting with the doctor I was very impressed. They made sure I was fully aware of what the procedure entailed and associated costs (which were much less than I found in my research of this procedure) and it seems they made every effort to keep him as comfortable as possible during the procedure. I have been taking my older dog to a different veterinarians office for 11 years but after recently getting a new puppy I decide to switch to Cascade as it’s very close to my home. I was nervous to move my dog to a new veterinarians office after so many years but I was thoroughly impressed and I am so incredibly happy with my decision. I'm sure they are best vet hospitals out there! I've been bringing my pet pig "Stuart" since he was only a couple months old. He gets his teeth cleaned, hooves trimmed, and all other checkups done there. Everyone there treats your pet just as he/she is another family member. We have had several wonderful experiences with Cascade Animal Hospital...Dr McBride did surgery on our Westie Maizy for both of her crucial ligaments which healed up and everything went great. Just recently we had a close call emergency with a terrible case of pancreatitis and thanks to a (beyond words) wonderful staff and under the care of Dr Abel and Dr Paplawsky she pulled through. It was such a rough time for us but knowing she was in such great care with a wonderful staff of doctors and techs taking care of her it lessened the stress. I rescued a puppy on Sunday and was told he was all set.. Well .. He wasn't . My regular vet was closed on Monday for the holidays and I called CAH and they got me in same day so my puppy could be seen. When my daughter and I arrived we received a warm welcome and everyone was very polite. When it was Chases turn, the tech was very caring and knowledge. Then the Dr came in and she was GREAT! Spent quite a bit of time with me and was very attentive to Chase and my concerns. She explained everything in great detail . Answered all my questions completely and offered advice. After he was treated, she came back in and explained alittle about the mix breed he is and how they can be stubborn and how to handle it. I have been with my current vet for 14 years but I believe she will continue to treat Chase. She spent about 25-30 mins with me and that to me is very important, we felt comfortable and not just another dog. After visiting numerous vet clinics in the Grand Rapids area, we settled on Cascade Hospital for Animals nearly a decade ago for several reasons. First, the compassion and dedication of both the vets and the staff was obvious - they are incredibly helpful and always willing any question at a moments notice. Secondly, the quality of the facilities (including onsite equipment) makes treatment much more accessible and faster. Finally, the separate dog/cat areas makes it much easier for those of us bringing in cats for treatment. It's quiet, allows our animals to stay calm, and keeps everyone happy. While CHFA may be slightly more expensive than other local vets, they have more people on staff and offer more extensive treatments if needed. We highly recommend them to anyone! Read Less

Took my bunny to a Animal Hospital who made me believe my rabbit was dying. I wanted a second opinion so I brought him to Cascade. They treated my bunny so kind! Very nice building and even nicer staff. Just moved into town so needed to find a new vet due to a sick pup on a Sunday. They got him right in and took excellent care of him. Our second and newest puppy Macks had mange, something that our previous vet South Crossings didn't detect until weeks later when he was completely bald, and very sick. When they finally caught it (after us specifically asking for him to get a skin scraping to be sure since they insisted it was Allergies) they wanted to put him on various pills for 3 months. We immediately switched both our dogs to Cascade. One pill for the mange a month later Macks was as good as new, in fact they even caught that he had puppy strangles and he has been happy and healthy since. Love the people here, they know what they're doing and they treat your pet as if it was their own. Highly recommend. Read Less

I can't say enough good things about Dr.Ritzman and everyone here. She is the BEST rabbit vet you can possibly visit. She easily diagnosed my baby, Triforce, with cancer and did her best for her. We lost her, but the entire staff treated our family with compassion and dignity. I know everything possible was done for Triforce and she was in the best hands. Our other bunny, Phoenix, was treated both by Dr.Keane and Dr.Ritzman and they helped us make him comfortable in his old age, and eventually we had him put to sleep at CHfA. They had the room dimly lit and treated our family and Phoenix wonderfully. They actually didn't have any openings that day, but made time for is because the situation was dire. They didn't even rush our goodbyes. After both losses, we were sent lovely sympathy cards. Also took our cat to CHfA and were very happy. Don't remember who we saw though.Read Less

I have always liked Cascade Hospital for Animals for my other dog for boarding so when he passed and we got a new puppy we decided to also board our new puppy there even though it's 40 minutes from where we live I just picked up my dog from there he did not have his ears cleaned which was on the boarding sheet, he did not have a bath which I know they always do and he definitely needs one he smells like poop and pee and I'm not happy about it and he was not in Doggy Daycare which was also marked on the sheet. I am very unhappy. When my husband dropped him off yeaterday the guy there went over everything with him, yet none of it was done. I am not sure I will return. Read Less

I have trusted CAH for almost 20 years. They have taken care of puppies through end of life. I have never felt pressured for any procedures and have always been presented with multiple treatment options. When it was time to put down my aging golden retriever, they came out to the house to make the experience as painless for our family and Maverick as possible. We love Cascade Hospital for Animals! We took our puppy there as new puppy parents, not knowing what we were doing. We went based on a personal recommendation and have been pleased. We didn't get off to a great start as the communications between all the staff members resulted in us having to go back 4 days in a row because someone forgot to give us something and when we needed to come back and the likes. They take real good care of our puppy on our visits and we could not be happier. Our puppy is happy as they always have really good treats on hand. While we have not enrolled in any of the classes or other services, we love the facility and most all of the workers there. (We only had one assistant who we didn't like and it was because she didn't pet or give any attention to our puppy unless the doctor was in the room with her. Felt very odd and fake.) The prices for boarding are definitely affordable and we tried to take our pup there, but they were completely booked. Read Less
