Dr. Herzog and Staff are by far the best veterinarians in the area.  He has a cunning nac of begin able to identify problems with my dog to far better degree than all the rest.  He doesn't pad the bill and charge extravagantly for the best service you can get.  If your looking for a super vet, than you need look no further.  Jake is in love with Dr. Herzog and that makes me sooooo happy. the reason I give dr.herzog one star isn't because he isn't a great vet he is I've had 2 dogs that have gone from 7weeks old up till 13 years old ..then had have my current 3 dogs there as of today I have tried the last 2 months to make an appt. for my dogs for heartworm check (unsuccessfully) I understand dr.herzog needs a vacation like everyone else ..but since there is no backup doctor and a week is taken off ...again I can't get an appointment.2 weeks before his vacation 2 of my dogs were limping ..one screaming in pain to jump in the car the other not wanting to get up to walk again I can't get in..so I ask if dr.herzog can somehow make time I waited a few days called back 2day and was told next Thur or Fri ..as a police officer working 12 hour shifts my only days off were Mon and Tue ..as I stated when I called ..so after 20+ yes of service from dr.herzog I had to go get my dogs records and find a new vet ..went to get my records while I'm standing at the desk I wasn't greeted ..she just kept talking about nonsense with 2ppl that were on their way out ..frustrated she looked at me and said "I'm getting your records" she gave me 2pages for 2 dogs fogot the 3rd dog and told me that's all she has what a disappointment this place has become I used to like it when it was an old fashioned vet clinic ..now it's just like most places it's not about your pet anymore Read Less

Excellent vet. Really good with animals. Small office, which I like. Also, he is a what I call a common sense veterinarian. He deals with problems without going overboard when it isn't warranted. Dr. Herzog has taken care of six cats for us, but not all at one time. Willie, Pippin, Pumpkin, Princess, Lizzie and Mitzi have all come under his caring hands at the early months of their lives, during any crisis of health, and at the ends as well, no easy thing for him or us. We are so sorry to have had to move too far away to subject either of the current feline family members to long trips in the car in boxes, never mind actually to get Lizzie fooled enough to get her into a box at all. Dr. Herzog in Grosse Pointe Park is the best vet we have ever taken our dogs to! 12 minute drive from downtown. Very reasonable pricing but best of all - he is fantastic with Nigel. I highly recommend him to any pet owner within 30 minutes drive-time! Read Less

Dr. Herzog has been treating our Pit Bull mix for nearly all of her life. He is kind, patient, and gentle. Our dog, of course, is always afraid but he puts her at ease when he examines her.
