They've always been really nice and relatively quick to get my cat in and out for a checkup. The doctor even followed up with a phone call a couple days later. It seems weird to me that they're not allowed to have email though. Like, who doesn't have email? It would be an easy way to connect personally with patients and follow up with appointments. I have been going to Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital for over 40 years with all of my pets. I would highly recommend them to all my friends. You are always treated with care and compassion for both your and your animals. I have had to put three dogs to sleep and it has always been difficult but with so much dignity for your pet. Brought my girl Siouxsie here for CCL lateral suture stabilization surgery. She has had some unforeseen complications with healing, and Dr. Balaj has gone above and beyond to make sure she was on the right path to healing and has been compassionate and wonderful through the whole process. He also was very knowledgeable on supplements when I asked about them, giving me great information on various brands and types that may aid in my dog's healing. brought my 3 month old puppy in to be treated for an allergic reaction to her medication (facial swelling & hives), and she was given a shot for spider bites!! there are no bite marks on her at all, I wasted $100 on shots for a spider bite that did not exist!!! I love everything about this place except the price...lolI've been going to Dr. Pillsbury for several years now (7 or 8 maybe). I love her and my dogs love her!The waiting room is welcoming. The staff is friendly. They have a separate area for kitties so the doggies don't upset them :)Over the years, I've had to get the basic vaccinations. I've also had to have my dogs nail removed after she jammed it on a stair and it was loose. I've had to put 2 different kitties to sleep. And the staff was so gentle and empathetic each time. Recently, my dog needed surgery on her ear to remove a hematoma - she had fluid in her ears. They took great care of her.Another bonus is that they have an emergency vet Hospital attached for after hours needs. As i mentioned, it's a bit more expensive than other vet offices I've been to. First off I want to say I would NEVER recommend bringing your pet here if they have chronic kidney disease, diabetes or any other serious medical condition. My cat was diagnosed as a diabetic about 2 years ago. We finally got it under control with insulin twice a day. I can't believe that I didn't write a review back in December, but I suppose it was just an oversight since it was a sad time to lose our Penny during the holiday season. I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Rivera. The woman is a saint! Her compassion over the three-week period dealing with Penny will be something we'll never forget, especially on Christmas morning when it was time to say goodbye. Dr. Rivera shed tears along with the rest of us, as she had gotten to know Penny (she was a sweet female boxer) due to an emergency surgery at the beginning of the month. This is a very nice place. It's easy to find. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Wright was wonderful. I was really emotional about my cat being so sick and embarrassed about not having enough money to run all the tests he needed. The doctor was really nice about it and helped us do what we could. They even let us borrow a carrier since mine broke. This vet is much closer since we moved and I'll be taking all of our animals here from now on. I  took my 10 month old rescue puppy in for a checkup. She is very timid. I don't  know her whole story, but she was with me for 2 weeks before she wagged her tail. Everyone at Harper Woods Vet was absolutely wonderful. When Dr Bagwell entered the room she sat on the floor & while we quietly talked, she feed Elie little treats & without the puppy even realizing it, she had been examined.I will never take her anywhere else. We know what great care our pets have gotten compared with the other vets we used. They always fit your pets in last minute, but never make you feel unwelcome. I LOVE this veterinary hospital and the wonderful staff that work there. I have been going there for nearly 10 years with my dogs. The staff are all kind and skilled and have my utmost confidence-my dogs have received wonderful medical care over the years. They are open long days and part of Saturday and there are multiple talented vets, so there is always someone to see in an emergency. I have been going to Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital for over 30 yrs!  The level of care received from the entire staff is OUTSTANDING!  From the front desk, to the vet techs, to the doctors, they are the best!  I have brought eight dogs and several cats to Dr. Balaj and he was wonderful with all of them.  Just recently, my puppy mill rescue cocker spaniel, Zoie, developed what was thought to be a cancerous tumor in her mouth, expecting the worst, Dr. Balaj operated, removing part of her bone in her lower jaw, and she is as good as new.  She is even eating hard food, which he didn't expect, there is no drooling, and her floppy tongue now stays in her mouth.  You would never know she had anything done!  We drive from Clinton Twp to see Dr. Balaj and would never go anywhere else!  THEY ARE AWESOME!!!!! Pilot (the Pembroke Welsh Corgi) loves to come here!  As a puppy, he once ate a bottle of pain meds, just so we could take an extra trip to his favorite vet!  Seriously though, whenever I have a question, they are so helpful even just over the phone, and are always able to find an appointment for us if need be.  Wait times are low and they are connected with an after hour emergency facility for those times when your dog won't stop throwing up on the fourth of July.  Dr. Pillsbury is awesome! I had to leave a local vet in the Detroit area due to be overcharged for visits. I had been with that vet for 9 years. A friend recommended Harper Woods Vet. It was convenient for me having lived in Harper Woods. Dr. Balaj was highly recommended and he did not disappoint. He didn't rush and he was thorough in explaining and answering any questions I had. Very personable. I have three rescue dogs and the cost of getting annual vaccines was sometimes overbearing but I never felt I was overcharged for any service. In fact if one of my dogs had an annual exam and I had to wait a month or two for additional shots; I wasn't charged again for another visit. The staff is very professional and informed. They also provided to me paperwork in a timely manner since I've moved. Never a problem. I would also recommend the groomer. She did a great job on both my poms and didn't cost and arm and a leg. Best thing I know that any dog that came in contact with mine was up on their shots.Miss them since I've moved to Tennessee and would highly recommend them. Read Less

Great great office!  We adopted Barney, a 12 year old Yorkie, a year and a half ago.  He came with a number of medical issues so we have had him a the vets a few times.  Every vet he has seen there, Dr. Balaj, Dr. Pillsbury and Dr. Doppke, have been great.  Very patient with us (first time pet parents) and Barney.  The staff is friendly and they always get us in as soon as possible.  They also have howloween parties and pics with santa :)Love this place!  Would recommend it to everyone! Got home from work Thursday and my dog was scraching his ear and whining. I took a look and the canal was full of dried blood. I called the vet, it was 4pm and they said come on in we have a 420 available. Breaking every speed limit law i got their in 10 minutes. So, it's 11:30 on a Sunday night and my darling white cat goes into a seizure. The vet's office I normally go to is closed. I manically start flipping through the Yellow Pages and stumble upon the Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital. Located on Harper, on the I-94 surface drive, this vet hospital is open late, even on Sundays. Upon arrival the staff was waiting for me, the examination room prep and ready to go. Talk about efficient! The staff was caring and compassionate. When my kitty had to spend the night there, the staff continually called me with updates. The vet explained options in terms I could understand, which helped calm some of the anxiety. And when they said my cat would be ready to come home, she was all ready to go when I arrived at the impeccably clean facility. And for any of you who have been in a situation like this, you know late night care (of any sort) ain't cheap. Yet surprisingly, HVH wasn't too scarring on my pocket and they cured my cat!
