In the past 17 years I have lived in seven cities all over the Eastern half of the USA with my pets, cats & dogs. In doing so, I have found that Ottawa Animal Hospital's competition is slim to none! Most veterinarians have only a veterinarian office. This special veterinarian took his office/clinic to the next level by taking the time, to do all the extensive & hard work to create a state of the art pet hospital with top equipment, top veterinarians & a superb & very qualified staff! For Dr. Heitman this involved having to pass approximately 954 tests!! How many vets do you know who care this much about your pet (s)? Their pricing is the standard normal costs, & they do not charge on everything that they do! Dr. Heitman's Ottawa Animal Hospital is outstanding! Went to this vets approx 2 years ago and left in tears. My 6 month old 70lb American bulldog/pitt mix ran through his gate & was hit by a car, I rushed him to our normal vet & they stabilIzed him but didn't have the equipment to fully treat him so I came here. My dog had a broken jaw and a lame front leg, they wanted $800 JUST for xrays! I asked if they took payments and replied no, I didn't have that money right then and I asked them what can I do, hoping they could help with a different vet or something.. they told me to go home, keep giving him his pain meds & save up my money! I was crushed! Luckily I found a vet who took him right in with out question, after xrays & surgery I still paid less then what they wanted for just the xrays. He is doing great now, jaw perfect and most the movement back to his front leg. I understand money makes the world go round but I thought this was inhumane & cruel to just send home a dog who had his jaw bone sticking through his skin! I took my dog to just get a check up, being she is older. There was nothing wrong with her. They did a thorough check up and wanted me basically to pay $800 for various types of surgery being my dog is healthy. They did notice she needs dental hygiene and wanted to charge me $200 just for that. I was very disappointed, being I have been to other vets whom never suggested outrageous claims. This is one of the best places in west MI. I've seen all of the vets here, and they are incredibly gifted in translating my pets disorder so that a client can understand. They detected a problem with my dogs bladder, teeth, and diet. I will never go to a different vet clinic. I would be willing to drive 3+ hours so I can take my vet to this clinic. I started bringing my cat Charlie to the 120th location after my husband and I moved to Holland, and I love how the vet techs are so good with him! I just wish I could see the same vet every visit for a more consistent experience and not have to rehash Charlie's history every time, but all the vets really are very good. OnlyBeen too the waverlyLocation but wow what an awesome place so clean and didn't smell or anything it was like walking into a human doctors office the staff all were very friendly and knowledgeable and seemed very eager too help and as weird as it sounds they wear scrubs which too me just their exterior presentation was a breath of fresh air after our horendous experience at mapleview ( complete opposite of Ottawa) so please beware of mapleviews reputation they are quite popular I don't know how though bc they are the absolute worse so do your pet a favor and choose Ottawa animal hospital if you truly care about your pet and your wallet Ottawa is the place too go!!
