I have been a client with Countryside vets for 13 years. Since the conversion to VCA, labwork prices have gone up by around 4 times the cost and the quality of care has gone down. It was never a concern with my dog when they had the previous staff. With the new staff, they wanted to muzzle my dog for X-rays and blood draws; this was never a concern before. Then recently, I was given expired medication (dated 1/2018, 2/2018 & 5/2018 in 4 separate foil packs; hard to believe this was not seen upon putting together the pack of meds) for my now elderly, disabled dog. When I spoke with the staff regarding this, Casey, the vet assistant indicated "that is all they send us". Casey was able to provide medication that was dated 6/2018. Well, the date this happened is mid-6/2018 and that is the expiration date. I was not going to pay for $60 in medication that is expired or about to expire for my elderly dog. The condition was treatable and I did not want him dying from a treatable condition. This medication upon a Google search indicated it is very susceptible to light and degrades quickly upon expiration. I asked multiple times for the office manager, Nicole, to call me. I received no phone call. Both times I called and asked to speak with Nicole, I was told she was in a meeting. I was able to return the medication for a refund. My dog was on antibiotics back in January. He had to go 2 rounds of the antibiotic and I have to wonder if that medication provided by VCA (and in a regular prescription bottle, so no way to tell) was expired and that is why it took 2 rounds of the antibiotics to treat a minor condition. I have transferred both my cat and dogs' care to another vet office. I am much happier with their care at the new office. The foil pack medication expiration date from the new vets office is 11/2019. My dog has completely recovered with 1 round of medication. In my around 2 years experience with VCA of Howell, it does seem $$$ is now the priority, not the care of our beloved animals. UPDATE: I emailed your hospital manager. No response. It's interesting bc you have all my contact info as you have for 13 years. You don't need me to email you to contact me. Read Less

My family took our 1 year old dog to be neutered by them. Their vet cut our dogs urethra completely severing it from his bladder and also removed his prostate INSTEAD of a second ball. The vet then sewed up our dog and sent him home. Two days later we took him to MSU since he didn't/couldnt pee after he came home. At MSU we found out what country side did to our dog. Our energetic playful dog had to be put down due to the carelness of country side. The vet knew be had made a mistake and still sewed up our dog and thought that by sending him home he would die and the vet wouldn't have to acknowledge what he did. Thank God for MSU otherwise we would have No idea of the type of monsters that work at country side. Since this (earlier this week) country side refuses to talk to us or even admit that they did anything wrong instead they are hiding behind their parent company and their top tier lawyers. Do not take your dog to them, a place like this does not deserve to service our community. They have been nothing but rude to us as we grieve for the loss of our very good boy. Read Less

I called Dr. Dawn Kennedy in a panic at her after-hours emergency number because my little doggie had picked up a toad after a rainstorm, spat it out, and began to foam at the mouth! She was so nice, just called herself "Dawn" without any attention to her well-earned DVM alphabets relating to her profession. She calmly told me that poisonous toads, like the Cane Toad, don't live here in Michigan (yet), that the little toad just left a bad taste in Daisy's mouth that can be alleviated with a rinse of water, or food. All is well. Thank you Dr. Dawn, we look forward to being your brand-new patients! Read Less

Absolutely horrible. We had, what we felt was a life threatening emergency with our dog and took her in to Countryside in Hamburg 30 minutes before they closed and were REFUSED TREATMENT. They refused to even look at our dog because they closed in 1/2 an hour. My poor daughter was hysterical and in tears. She thought her dog was dying and the vet was offering no assistance at all ! This is DISGUSTING!! They are clearly more concerned about getting out of work than they are your pet's care. I dont know what governing body handles Veterinarians, but I assure you, I am lodging a complaint. !!! The only reason they get one star is because I cant leave ZERO. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! UPDATE: Town & Country Vet Clinic in Brighton IMMEDIATELY took our dog in and did a complete exam and prescribed necessary medications. I have now found a new Vet !! These folks truly care and are very reasonably priced!! Drive the extra 10 miles and go somewhere where your pet is the first priority.Read Less

I'm not sure where to start on the Awesomeness of this place. I brought my cat (Spook) in for a declaw on 12/14/2015. I was very reluctant to have this procedure done and was extremely nervous about it. The great experience started at the front desk. The gal that did all the paper work set up was so sweet. The nice thing is They didn't just take Spook and send me on my way I went into a room with Spook and a gal came in and chatted about the procedure and answered all questions I had. After the procedure the Doctor (Doctor Kennedy) Was kind enough to call me and let me know that Spook did amazing and was recovering very well. I was so glad to hear from her as I think Spooks procedure was harder on me then it was on him. :).. I then went to pick spook up the next afternoon and the gals were so awesome, they were kind and had a great sense of humor nothing but a joy to deal with and chat with.. The following morning I was on my way to work and I got a phone call from the office checking to see how Spook was doing.. That meant so much to me. Here we are 10 days later and Spook is fully recovered and back to his amazing self. As far as I'm concerned a 5 star rating is not enough!!!! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Although the vets are techs seem to know their stuff the front desk staff is always frazzled!! I have been going there since I moved to Livingston county in 2011. When you check out be ready to wait 15-30 minutes for your paperwork to make it to the front desk, be prepared to be on hold every time you call. I have two dogs and I can only bring in one dog at a time. Today it took the front desk staff 10 minutes to check me in they could not find my dogs folders (and the place was nearly empty, there was one other person with a dog doing the paperwork wait, discussed above) My other dog was waiting in the car and because it was a warm day I was starting to worry about the dog left in the car in the heat and I told the front desk staff just that and asked if I could put the dog (I already had inside) into one of the THREE EMPTY EXAM ROOMS so I could get the other dog out of the car and they said NO. WOW I walked out and will be looking for a new vet. Read Less

Read Less
