My normal vet couldn't get us in when I found my cat with an infected bite on his face. We liked the staff so much we went back in for my English setters double ear infection and neuter surgery. My oldest dog came home all out of it and with a huuuge incision when we had him castrated at the humane society spay/neuter clinic, by comparison Hunter came home washed with a bandana acting like he'd spent 2 days getting pampered at a doggy spa, and his incision is tiny. Receptionist staff is extremely rude and unprofessional. I work at another animal Hospital and any time our office(techs, doctors, receptionist) needs mutual records for a patient, we are met with extreme attitude. We used to take our fur babies to a Vet in Mason and while that is a great Vet they are a but out if the way for us. Our first experience was when one of our cats was suddenly ill and everywhere we took her they wanted $1000 or more just to figure out what was wrong. We tried River Front and they were honest and compassionate about the issue and options. Since then we have taken our other fur babies and treat one on an ongoing basis for a skin condition. I can't say enough about the staff at Riverfront. While our dog was being treated for bladder cancer, they partnered with MSU on her care. They spent many hours on the phone and in person with me discussing Hailee's test results and end of life care. And now that she is gone, I was incredibly touched to get a sympathy card with personal note from Sheryl in the mail. I'd like to thank the staff for everything they did for myself and for Hailee. The sub q fluids you helped me administer allowed her to feel well enough for a Hailee day out which included a walk on the beach at Lake Michigan and a T-bone steak dinner. Riverfront Animal Hospital has treated every dog I've ever owned. I love their service, pricing, boarding, etc. I am writing this particular review because my son had to put his best friend of 13 years to rest, he is an only child. The staff at Riverfront explained the process, and let us be with Buddy until his heart stopped beating. They allowed us all the time we needed, after his passing, to sit with him. We did a formal cremation which included a plaque with Buddy'...s paw print, a certificate of cremation, and a beautiful tin with paw prints on it that contained Buddy's remains. I love and appreciate the care they took of Buddy, it made a difference in how my son handled his death. He was upset and sad, but at the same time, glad to get the paw print, and see that they put Buddy's remains in something special. Dr. Lisa is the most caring and wonderful vet who has given love to our goldens for many years. Through the passing of our 16 yo precious golden Abby 2 mos ago. Dr. Lisa gave us so much time to be with Abby as she relaxed and cried with us as she passed; she had known Abby since she was just little and really cared. She understood our love for Abby through every phone call of worry. Dr. Lisa was with us every step of the way. Murphy my frenchy was mauled by another dog. Not horrble injuries but alt of pain for him. Took him to river front animal hospital. Cleaned him up gave him pain meds and anti biotics. My poor boy was miserable. Almost a week goes by most of the swelling is hone except his ear is getting worse. He is vomiting will not eat. Take him back in they change meds clean his ear and say is bruise rising he will be fine. Next day ear is worse. Take him back. They say keep an eye on him bit he should be fine. Third day ear even worse purple color and closed. Take him again dr says ice packs. Next day his ear bursts. Blood and puss every where. Rush him in. Dr say its draining but saved us money by letting it happen on its own. My dog was in pain for over a week we all suffered trauma of it bursting. But they joked about saving money. Looking for new vet. Not going bsck to River Front Animal hospital. Read Less

I brought Benny in for his 1st puppy checkup yesterday and met Dr. Lisa. I was very impressed with the time and care she took with our little 3LB fur ball. I have been going to this vet for 20+ yrs. Most of the times it was a good experience. That is until 2014. My dog at something she shouldn't have and instead of doing surgery (she'd been sick for days) they waited longer to see if she'd pass it. Unfortunately, she didn't and by the time they opened her, she was septic. I had to put her down. That brings us to this yr. My son's dog became ill and he took him there and was told "he'll be fine" and sent him home. That was a little while ago. Well today Spartacus had diarrhea, could barely move and was breathing funny. Took him back to RAH and they told him to take him to MSU. It was too late. Spartacus is septic and w/o $7000 there's nothing they can do. So, my son is getting his furbaby put down. (My poor gbabies!) RIH baby and say hi to Bella at the Rainbow bridge. Dr. Lisa and Dr. Lori are the most caring, professional, honest and compassionate people. They both have truly become part of my family. I've had 2 cats (Molly & Callie) live 17/18yrs and 1 daschund (Stretchie), live 17yrs before going to the Rainbow Bridge. None of my FUR-BABBIES would have brightened my life so long without them, and their amazing staff. I now have another daschund (DaVinci) who's their new patient. When I lived in Lansing, Riverfront was my regular vet for my cat and dog. They have always provided excellent customer service and excellent pricing. Unfortunately I've had to take my dog in for two different emergencies. The second was last summer when we were in town visiting. If I could give Riverfront more than 5 stars, I would! I thought maybe my dog (13 year old Husky) was sick or had some sort of infection, so my sister offered to take her in for me sooner than I was able to. Dr. Lisa did only what was necessary to figure out a possible problem. Since I wasn't able to go to the appointment, Dr. Lisa personally called me today to go over everything, get some more information about my dog, and let me know about blood work results. Just speaking with her over the phone, she sounded like the most kind hearted, compassionate person and vet. I'm more than impressed that she took 10 minutes out of her busy day to let me know about my dog. Even though I haven't physically been to the office yet, I don't plan on using any other animal clinic for my current or future dogs. Update on Barney: I was getting dressed to go and visit him this morning when Dr. Lisa called to tell me that I could come to pick him up. Thank you for all of your prayers. Once again, I know that they were heard. He is on prednisone and gabapentin and bed rest. Because they were able to address his problem so quickly, he responded to his meds and is walking with a wobble. He is by my side and I am so grateful to Riverfront Animal Hospital.
