My dog vomited blood at 1:00AM. Believing that the Emergency Veterinary Care Specialists are available 24 hours for such emergencies we took him in, arriving at 1:30AM. We were met at the door by a young lady who informed us that there was NO MEDICAL STAFF available. She recommended that the next closest 24 hour hospital is at Michigan State University in East Lansing. We know that the Oakland Veterinary Referral Service (OVRS) hospital is fully staffed 24x7, and is much closer than MSU, so we went there. VERY disappointed in the Emergency Veterinary Care Specialists - they should not advertise 24 hour emergency care if they don't staff the facility to handle emergencies. I would give it a zero star rating if I could.

First after reading the reviews I'm disappointed that this company didn't respond to any of the reviews written. If it was my company I would certainly want to address the customers that had a negative experience at my facility. I have brought many pets to this emergency vet clinic. I am almost always happy with the vet services. Yes they are extremely expensive but so is every other Emergency Vet Clinic. My problem is with the front desk staff. They are completely incompetent. You can call and leave important messages (life or death for your pet messages) and the front desk doesn't relay these messages to the vet treating your dog. I've had to call back several times to actually get a vet on the phone and they never received a message I left HOURS before for them. Also, the front desk will give medical advice which I know they are NOT trained to do. It's unfortunate but I will have to look elsewhere for an emergency vet and this one is 15 minutes from my house.

I regret taking my turtle to these people last summer when it was sick. I was charged $89 UP FRONT and told nothing was wrong with her. The entire appointment was a joke, I was talked down to the entire time and wasn't listened to. The next day my poor turtle died. RIP. Today marks her birthday so I figured why not leave a review in Franklin's honor? If you love your pet, take them elsewhere. My advice to the staff: learn how to LISTEN and actually show some COMPASSION for pet owners!

All they were after was a signature authorizing excessive testing and treatment. If you need to go here please ask questions and slow the process down until you are comfortable and understand. Middle of the night vet misdiagnosed my dog because he couldn't understand English very well. I'm sympathetic to people who are learning English as a second language but in this emergency situation it was very dangerous for my dog. Also, they are very serious about paying up front and signing lots of paperwork before they will look at your pet. I understand that they need to do this due to bad luck with previous customers but it is very frustrating when your pet has an emergency. I will likely use this emergency vet again only if there is no other option around and my pet has a very obvious emergency that can be easily diagnosed without discussion with the vet.

My second time utilizing emergency care for one of my dogs and I am just as pleased with the care as the first time. The doctor and the staff was very kind and informative. The doctor reviewed the X-ray with me and made sure that I understood everything. Although I was not able to afford all the treatment they offered, which was reasonable considering my dog’s diagnosis, they sent us off in much better shape than when we came in. Lisa was beyond helpful and if there was a word more generous than compassionate it would be what I would use to describe her in particular. She answered all 1 million of my questions (this required her running back and forth frequently) and provided me with enough information to provide the best care I could considering I was not able to leave my dog with them overnight. Within less than 24 hours my dog has slowly shown signs of improvement due to Lisa’s efforts and if it wasn’t for the excellent care my dog received he wouldn’t be progressing as well as he is even though we aren’t out of the woods just yet. I wouldn’t hesitate to return if the need ever arose in the future.

I brought my kitty Beans into emergency care late night the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend. The vet techs and doctors there past 11pm were caring and patient and treated my kitty with such care. I commend the staff who takes care of sick animals 24/7, especially during a holiday weekend. Seeing as how Beans was in their care all weekend I was pretty shocked at how reasonable the bill was. I am so glad I live nearby and have such reliable emergency care for my pets should the unfortunate need arise.

We brought our 3 month pup in after going to the Novi 24 hour vet off Novi Road and ten mile. That place was aweful from start to end, charging us 400 dollars for telling us our pup has Provirus. We left there in shambles stressed knowing our pup will die if not treated. The next day we researched which vet to take her to since it was Christmas day, that limited our choices but we are happy to say our pup is now home after a week of treatment. The staff at VCS we felt was great! Not sure how we are gonna pay for all this but we had to save her.

An x-ray immediately showed that my dog had blader stones with one stuck in his urethra. They wanted over $3000 to perform the surgery. I had them empty his bladder and followed up with my vet first thing the next morning. Not only did they lie on their report and say they did a procedure that they didn't do, but also had unreadable x-ray films. So after paying them $400 for nothing, I went to my own vet who had to redo the x-ray and did the surgery for $1200. This place is horrible and I would never take a pet there again.

Absolutely awful. Took a bunny in to get help, was clearly dying and they turned us away over $78. I honestly cannot believe how we were treated there. Not a care at all. They would have only had to wait about 6 hours for the money and offered to leave all forms of ID or wait there till the money was clear in the bank but was still turned away. Absolutely outraged. I understand they get people who dont pay but we tried everything to make them comfortable with knowing we would pay in just hours. This was not even our bunny, it was our daughters friends bunny but its still very upsetting that all we could do it watch this poor bunny suffer because " they dont have the authority to just look at it with out payment" sounds to me these people need to find a new profession cause doing right over $78 wasn't worth their time. What a disgusting display of humanity.

It is rare when you find a real gem in your local community, we have one of the BEST here in the Milford/Highland area in VCS Pets First. It isn't just part of the business name it is the way they do business. Peter, Julie and all the staff at VCS are the greatest. We have 3 beagles and 2 cats and whatever stray Jen decides needs care and they do a fabulous job. Ivy just had a mast cell tumor and a toe removed on Thursday, came home on Friday and is doing fabulous. Peter and Julie - you have my love and eternal gratitude for all that you do with the animals as well as their people, especially at this difficult time for Jen and me.

I had an appointment within 24hrs from when I called, she was in surgery 2 hours after arriving and got updates throughout the day of surgery and post-op today. I would without a doubt trust and recommend them to anyone.

VCS is a wonderful 24 veterinary hospital with an exceptional staff. When we found out our Rusty Bear had bone cancer, they came to our rescue and helped him when no one else would because of financial issues. They even did surgery the day we went in for just a consultation because they didn't want him to have to wait. We couldn't have asked for a better clinic or better care for our baby boy! They took such good care of him and gave us constant updates even in the middle of the night (Like we requested)! Rusty made a lot of good friends at VCS and they treated him like a VPD (VPI, but dog)! Thank you for your warmth, caring and extreme generosity! We will never forget all that you did for us and our sweet boy!

My puppy goes there. I got the puppy package which ended up being the cheapest for spaying and shots out of everywhere else around (I called around) and i've had no problems with them so far. I also like it because if there is an emergency (they're open 24 hrs.), my baby's file is already there. As soon as we walk in they all know her by name and everyone I've talked to has spoken understandable English. I also work in the Milford area and everyone I've talked to about this place has said it's a good vet so I've never talked to anyone that had something bad to say about it. It must have gotten better since '07 (seeing the older reviews), because I would recommend this vet.

Dr. Hass, her staff and all her veterinarians that work at VCS have done a great job taking care of our pets. We have been clients on the emergency service as well as the general medicine service. Unfortunatel , because of the services they provide they see some very sick animals and not all of them survive. I am confident they all got the very best in care. Also, our family is not intimidated by dealing with people with accents, as long as they do a good job, try not to be so narrow minded!

Ive been taking my animals to Dr Hass for many years now. A year ago, with care and concern Dr Hass saved my mastiff. It took many months and a lot of encouragement on her part....but she saw us both through. Just recently my cat had to go there on an emergency. He has kidney stones and was in renal failure. The first week was touch and go. I didnt think he would make it, euthanasia was discussed asking Dr Hass if she felt he could pull through this, when she said yes, I hunkered down for another week. Well to my joyous suprise, he turned around. Granted he still has issues and still under the care of Dr. Hass, however I have him home with me and I still find the entire staff there caring and considerate in his follow up care even though I am sure I am a pest.

When I called and spoke with a technician the other night i had NO idea that Stormy was as sick as she was and that her life in such danger i learned that night what a ""bloat"" was, the ER doctor and staff of technicians had to come out to my car you get her in the clinic because by the time that i drove there her bloat conduction had become very bad very fast. They keped me at ease the whole time and where all very informative when i left the clinic i felt really scared because Stormy was in sugary right then but the Surgeon called me shortly after I left and told me that all when well with Stormy and she will be okay. Thank you, thank you so so much because I'm typing this in my bed with Stormy next to me and her head on my lap.

Katie, bless her heart, has a passion for food, therefore she ate an entire 6# ham and followed up with some dessert, the entire chocolate cake! As a result of her gluttonous ways, she bloated. I rushed her to Veterinary Care Specialists in Milford, MI and they were simply amazing! I was freaking out, but they were on it. They not only saved her life, but they were kind and understanding with me, the completely freaked out pet owner. I cannot say enough about the great care both Katie and I received. Wow! Amazing veterinary care! Over the weekend I had an unfortunate event with my beloved 4yr old Golden Retriever, Katie. Katie, bless her heart, has a passion for food, therefore she ate an entire 6# ham and followed up with some dessert, the entire chocolate cake! As a result of her gluttonous ways, she bloated. I rushed her to Veterinary Care Specialists in Milford, MI and they were simply amazing! I was freaking out, but they were on it. They not only saved her life, but they were kind and understanding with me, the completely freaked out pet owner. I cannot say enough about the great care both Katie and I received. If your ever in a situation, trust me, Veterinary Care Specialists is the place to go!

My dog vomited blood at 1:00AM. Believing that the Emergency Veterinary Care Specialists are available 24 hours for such emergencies we took him in, arriving at 1:30AM. We were met at the door by a young lady who informed us that there was NO MEDICAL STAFF available. She recommended that the next closest 24 hour hospital is at Michigan State University in East Lansing. We know that the Oakland Veterinary Referral Service (OVRS) hospital is fully staffed 24x7, and is much closer than MSU, so we went there. VERY disappointed in the Emergency Veterinary Care Specialists - they should not advertise 24 hour emergency care if they don't staff the facility to handle emergencies. I would give it a zero star rating if I could.

First after reading the reviews I'm disappointed that this company didn't respond to any of the reviews written. If it was my company I would certainly want to address the customers that had a negative experience at my facility. I have brought many pets to this emergency vet clinic. I am almost always happy with the vet services. Yes they are extremely expensive but so is every other Emergency Vet Clinic. My problem is with the front desk staff. They are completely incompetent. You can call and leave important messages (life or death for your pet messages) and the front desk doesn't relay these messages to the vet treating your dog. I've had to call back several times to actually get a vet on the phone and they never received a message I left HOURS before for them. Also, the front desk will give medical advice which I know they are NOT trained to do. It's unfortunate but I will have to look elsewhere for an emergency vet and this one is 15 minutes from my house.

I regret taking my turtle to these people last summer when it was sick. I was charged $89 UP FRONT and told nothing was wrong with her. The entire appointment was a joke, I was talked down to the entire time and wasn't listened to. The next day my poor turtle died. RIP. Today marks her birthday so I figured why not leave a review in Franklin's honor? If you love your pet, take them elsewhere. My advice to the staff: learn how to LISTEN and actually show some COMPASSION for pet owners!

Middle of the night vet misdiagnosed my dog because he couldn't understand English very well. I'm sympathetic to people who are learning English as a second language but in this emergency situation it was very dangerous for my dog. Also, they are very serious about paying up front and signing lots of paperwork before they will look at your pet. I understand that they need to do this due to bad luck with previous customers but it is very frustrating when your pet has an emergency. I will likely use this emergency vet again only if there is no other option around and my pet has a very obvious emergency that can be easily diagnosed without discussion with the vet.

My second time utilizing emergency care for one of my dogs and I am just as pleased with the care as the first time. The doctor and the staff was very kind and informative. The doctor reviewed the X-ray with me and made sure that I understood everything. Although I was not able to afford all the treatment they offered, which was reasonable considering my dog’s diagnosis, they sent us off in much better shape than when we came in. Lisa was beyond helpful and if there was a word more generous than compassionate it would be what I would use to describe her in particular. She answered all 1 million of my questions (this required her running back and forth frequently) and provided me with enough information to provide the best care I could considering I was not able to leave my dog with them overnight. Within less than 24 hours my dog has slowly shown signs of improvement due to Lisa’s efforts and if it wasn’t for the excellent care my dog received he wouldn’t be progressing as well as he is even though we aren’t out of the woods just yet. I wouldn’t hesitate to return if the need ever arose in the future.

The vet techs and doctors there past 11pm were caring and patient and treated my kitty with such care. I commend the staff who takes care of sick animals 24/7, especially during a holiday weekend. Seeing as how Beans was in their care all weekend I was pretty shocked at how reasonable the bill was. I am so glad I live nearby and have such reliable emergency care for my pets should the unfortunate need arise.

We brought our 3 month pup in after going to the Novi 24 hour vet off Novi Road and ten mile. That place was aweful from start to end, charging us 400 dollars for telling us our pup has Provirus. We left there in shambles stressed knowing our pup will die if not treated. The next day we researched which vet to take her to since it was Christmas day, that limited our choices but we are happy to say our pup is now home after a week of treatment. The staff at VCS we felt was great! Not sure how we are gonna pay for all this but we had to save her.

Horrible horrible place. First they have absolutely no people or pet manners. The dr immediately wanted to run $600 worth of tests instead of just doing one thing at a time. An x-ray immediately showed that my dog had blader stones with one stuck in his urethra. They wanted over $3000 to perform the surgery. I had them empty his bladder and followed up with my vet first thing the next morning. Not only did they lie on their report and say they did a procedure that they didn't do, but also had unreadable x-ray films. So after paying them $400 for nothing, I went to my own vet who had to redo the x-ray and did the surgery for $1200. This place is horrible and I would never take a pet there again.

Absolutely awful. Took a bunny in to get help, was clearly dying and they turned us away over $78. I honestly cannot believe how we were treated there. Not a care at all. They would have only had to wait about 6 hours for the money and offered to leave all forms of ID or wait there till the money was clear in the bank but was still turned away. Absolutely outraged. I understand they get people who dont pay but we tried everything to make them comfortable with knowing we would pay in just hours. This was not even our bunny, it was our daughters friends bunny but its still very upsetting that all we could do it watch this poor bunny suffer because " they dont have the authority to just look at it with out payment" sounds to me these people need to find a new profession cause doing right over $78 wasn't worth their time. What a disgusting display of humanity.

It is rare when you find a real gem in your local community, we have one of the BEST here in the Milford/Highland area in VCS Pets First. It isn't just part of the business name it is the way they do business. Peter, Julie and all the staff at VCS are the greatest. We have 3 beagles and 2 cats and whatever stray Jen decides needs care and they do a fabulous job. Ivy just had a mast cell tumor and a toe removed on Thursday, came home on Friday and is doing fabulous. Peter and Julie - you have my love and eternal gratitude for all that you do with the animals as well as their people, especially at this difficult time for Jen and me.

Took Izzy, my 3.5year old Dachshund, on recommendation from my vet (Dr. Eby @Northern Animal Clinic in Midland) to Dr. Hass and her team of specialist. Izzy's rear end went limp after a back injury. I had an appointment within 24hrs from when I called, she was in surgery 2 hours after arriving and got updates throughout the day of surgery and post-op today. I would without a doubt trust and recommend them to anyone.

VCS is a wonderful 24 veterinary hospital with an exceptional staff. When we found out our Rusty Bear had bone cancer, they came to our rescue and helped him when no one else would because of financial issues. They even did surgery the day we went in for just a consultation because they didn't want him to have to wait. We couldn't have asked for a better clinic or better care for our baby boy! They took such good care of him and gave us constant updates even in the middle of the night (Like we requested)! Rusty made a lot of good friends at VCS and they treated him like a VPD (VPI, but dog)! Thank you for your warmth, caring and extreme generosity! We will never forget all that you did for us and our sweet boy!

My puppy goes there. I got the puppy package which ended up being the cheapest for spaying and shots out of everywhere else around (I called around) and i've had no problems with them so far. I also like it because if there is an emergency (they're open 24 hrs.), my baby's file is already there. As soon as we walk in they all know her by name and everyone I've talked to has spoken understandable English. I also work in the Milford area and everyone I've talked to about this place has said it's a good vet so I've never talked to anyone that had something bad to say about it. Dr. Hass, her staff and all her veterinarians that work at VCS have done a great job taking care of our pets. We have been clients on the emergency service as well as the general medicine service. Unfortunatel , because of the services they provide they see some very sick animals and not all of them survive. I am confident they all got the very best in care. Also, our family is not intimidated by dealing with people with accents, as long as they do a good job, try not to be so narrow minded!

Ive been taking my animals to Dr Hass for many years now. A year ago, with care and concern Dr Hass saved my mastiff. It took many months and a lot of encouragement on her part....but she saw us both through. Just recently my cat had to go there on an emergency. He has kidney stones and was in renal failure. The first week was touch and go. I didnt think he would make it, euthanasia was discussed asking Dr Hass if she felt he could pull through this, when she said yes, I hunkered down for another week. Well to my joyous suprise, he turned around. Granted he still has issues and still under the care of Dr. Hass, however I have him home with me and I still find the entire staff there caring and considerate in his follow up care even though I am sure I am a pest.

I will always remember you for what you did for my big girl Stormy (Great Dane) she is here today because of you, ALL OF YOU there at your ER Clinic. When I called and spoke with a technician the other night i had NO idea that Stormy was as sick as she was and that her life in such danger i learned that night what a ""bloat"" was, the ER doctor and staff of technicians had to come out to my car you get her in the clinic because by the time that i drove there her bloat conduction had become very bad very fast. They keped me at ease the whole time and where all very informative when i left the clinic i felt really scared because Stormy was in sugary right then but the Surgeon called me shortly after I left and told me that all when well with Stormy and she will be okay. Thank you, thank you so so much because I'm typing this in my bed with Stormy next to me and her head on my lap.

Dr. Hass and the people at Veterinary Care Specialists were wonderful and so understanding as we dealt with our dalmatians heart disease over a years time, and were especially caring when she had to be put down when her body gave out on her. We would definitely recommend the clinic to anyone seeking excellent pet care.

It was an amazing experience. The doctors and staff devoted so much time and expertise to my cat. My family is so greatful for what they did for all of us. I would not go any where else!

I have taken my 2 cats to Veterinary Care Specialists on numerous occasions. I find the entire staff and doctors to be informative and friendly! I live a distance away and pass a few other Veterinaria...

I live a distance away and pass a few other Veterinarian clinics just to take my cats to that one ...I recommend Veterinart Care Specialists to everyone I know. They are the best!!!!

Over the weekend I had an unfortunate event with my beloved 4yr old Golden Retriever, Katie. Katie, bless her heart, has a passion for food, therefore she ate an entire 6# ham and followed up with some dessert, the entire chocolate cake! As a result of her gluttonous ways, she bloated. I rushed her to Veterinary Care Specialists in Milford, MI and they were simply amazing! I was freaking out, but they were on it. They not only saved her life, but they were kind and understanding with me, the completely freaked out pet owner. I cannot say enough about the great care both Katie and I received. If your ever in a situation, trust me, Veterinary Care Specialists is the place to go!

I had a few experiences with Veterinary Care Specialists, the most recent with my dog who became very ill very quickly. The staff was understanding, knowledgeable and answered all my questiions with a great deal of consideration. I not only felt that my girl was well taken care of, but so was I and my family. A great group of dedicated staff who really care.

Wow! Amazing veterinary care! Over the weekend I had an unfortunate event with my beloved 4yr old Golden Retriever, Katie.
