In my opinion, Newaygo Veterinary Services are more interested in the $$$ up front than the immediate care of my dog. Unfortunately she died on February 26th. I had been going to that vet since the late 90's and never experienced the way I was treated like that day. They always were compassionate. But this time was different. It wasn't about me, it was about my dog who was extremely uncomfortable and couldn't get up. After an upsetting conversation on the phone about money ( ...which I never did not pay my bill in all those years) was finally able to get my girl in there within a couple of hours. After about 15 minutes the doc came in checked her out. She said my Jenni's lungs were filling with fluid, her heart rate was irregular and her blood pressure was dropping. She left the room with no other explanations. A few minutes later the other girl comes in with a lists of potential things we can do to find out what's wrong. Mind you, no one is concerned about my dogs comfort at that moment. The cost was insane. I'm balling my eyes out because she is literally dying in front of me. I'm on a fixed budget. There is no way I could afford those tests and procedures. So I asked about euthanasia cost. Because my Jenni was almost blind and deaf and 13 years old. What was best for her??? Anyway, after making that horrible decision. Her fate was sealed. Dr. M came in a while later (dog still suffering) and injected the medicine to put her down, she said it only took about 1/2 the med that it normally takes. My Jenni was almost dead when I got there. Yet Newaygo Veterinary Services were more interested in how much money they could bilk out of me knowing the outcome would probably be the same. She was extremely ill when we arrived. And dead an hour or so later. It was about the money as soon as I called them. I'm heartbroken. What ever happened to compassion. We could of dealt with the money issues later. That's not what most important at that moment... I understand that they have to make sure their bill is paid because of people who don't pay their bill. I brought my cat in for an emergency visit, they were the only vet in Newaygo county that would let me bring him in, and they got him into a room as soon as I arrived. Unfortunately I did have to put my cat down, but they were so unbelievably kind to me the whole time; talked me through the process, and reassured me through the whole ordeal. They treated my cat as if he was their own, just incredibly kind people.

We brought our little 5 week old puppy here for the first time and they were amazing. Since then the now 5 month old crazy Chevy has been in and out with puppy visits, bladder infections, unmanageable ear infections and uncontrollable vomit. Today we finally left the office with a clean bill of health! I can't even begin to say how amazing this vet is! They all know my little pup by name, comment on how she has grown and compliment both her and I on how far our training has come. On top of that I have received personal phone calls from Dr. Killian herself asking how she was as well as numerous phone calls from the rest of the staff calling periodically thought out these last few months of trying to get our little pup healthy. Big thank you to Dr. Vanderwall, Holly and Amy for everything you have done. I would recommend this place to any one! Smiling faces and genuine love for the animals start from the front office all the way through the back!

We brought in our beagle a couple of days after arriving in town. They were able to get us in the same day I called and we were in an exam room within 15 minutes of checking in. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and seemed to genuinely care about our dog's welfare. Also, instead of just doing X-rays to run up our bill they checked our dog out thoroughly and decided they weren't necessary. We spent less than $60 for the exam and a prescription for pain meds and muscle relaxers for our pet. Excellent service all around.

I've taken pets to several vets, but this vet's office is the best. You can tell the staff are knowledgeable and caring. I had to put my cat to sleep due to an inoperable tumor and the staff here made my experience as positive as possible. I had previously put a pet to sleep at a different vet, and the experience was very different. The vet in Newaygo has a small room that had a calming and intimate atmosphere. It looks more like a room in someone's house than your typical exam room (which is where my other pet had been put to sleep at the other vet). My cat was not scared or aggravated in any way. I could tell she really enjoyed the attention and atmosphere because I hadn't heard her purr like that for a long time. We had plenty of time to sit with her and say goodbye. She was able to pass peacefully and surrounded by love all because of the amazing staff and atmosphere here. They even sent me a sympathy card and a plaster paw print impression from my cat. I hope I never have to put another pet to sleep, but if I do I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you xx

This is a very high rating for me to give. Newaygo Vet has cared for my four-legged family and relatives for the last sixteen years. In the past we have had concerns and differences over medication and treatment for a rare breed (Tibetan Mastiffs), but overall I have been pleased with their service. They have been able to handle a large,.challenging, and difficult dog that other vets refused to see.
I am especially impressed by their prompt and informative responses to telephone calls with questions. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.

We brought our little 5 week old puppy here for the first time and they were amazing. Since then the now 5 month old crazy Chevy has been in and out with puppy visits, bladder infections, unmanageable ear infections and uncontrollable vomit. Today we finally left the office with a clean bill of health! I can't even begin to say how amazing this vet is! They all know my little pup by name, comment on how she has grown and compliment both her and I on how far our training has come. On top of that I have received personal phone calls from Dr. Killian herself asking how she was as well as numerous phone calls from the rest of the staff calling periodically thought out these last few months of trying to get our little pup healthy. Big thank you to Dr. Vanderwall, Holly and Amy for everything you have done. I would recommend this place to any one! Smiling faces and genuine love for the animals start from the front office all the way through the back!

We brought in our beagle a couple of days after arriving in town. They were able to get us in the same day I called and we were in an exam room within 15 minutes of checking in. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and seemed to genuinely care about our dog's welfare. Also, instead of just doing X-rays to run up our bill they checked our dog out thoroughly and decided they weren't necessary. We spent less than $60 for the exam and a prescription for pain meds and muscle relaxers for our pet. Excellent service all around.

I've taken pets to several vets, but this vet's office is the best. You can tell the staff are knowledgeable and caring. I had to put my cat to sleep due to an inoperable tumor and the staff here made my experience as positive as possible. I had previously put a pet to sleep at a different vet, and the experience was very different. The vet in Newaygo has a small room that had a calming and intimate atmosphere. It looks more like a room in someone's house than your typical exam room (which is where my other pet had been put to sleep at the other vet). My cat was not scared or aggravated in any way. I could tell she really enjoyed the attention and atmosphere because I hadn't heard her purr like that for a long time. We had plenty of time to sit with her and say goodbye. She was able to pass peacefully and surrounded by love all because of the amazing staff and atmosphere here. They even sent me a sympathy card and a plaster paw print impression from my cat. I hope I never have to put another pet to sleep, but if I do I wouldn't go anywhere else. Thank you xx

This is a very high rating for me to give. Newaygo Vet has cared for my four-legged family and relatives for the last sixteen years. In the past we have had concerns and differences over medication and treatment for a rare breed (Tibetan Mastiffs), but overall I have been pleased with their service. They have been able to handle a large,.challenging, and difficult dog that other vets refused to see.
I am especially impressed by their prompt and informative responses to telephone calls with questions. They are not cheap, but you get what you pay for.
