After moving to the Pokagon Hwy area 3 years ago we decided to use this vet for our dogs as it was close to home, last year he treated my little "Buffett" for boarder line lime disease $900.00 later we find out that there is no such thing, they either have it or they don't! Sunday our little Buffett became very ill, my husband drove the dog to the doctor home to see if he could help us, he told my husband that he would have to take him to south bend clinic that it was Sunday, our dog died about an hour later, this man would not even take the time to look at him , unless you want a vet that don't care about your pet, stay clear of this place!!! my cat was very sick, but it felt like the staff was more concerned with making me "feel better" than actually treating my cat. they rather sell me stopgap measures to prolong my cat's suffering than be honest with me in a terminal situation that putting him down to rest would be the best option. the doctor was ambivalent when asked about treatment vs humanely putting down. i took my buddy to a 2nd vet for a 2nd opinion and laid out all my concerns and yes having to put him down was a painful decision, but at least it was an honest decision motivated by realistic information. i will never trust town & country vet to ever give me a honest answer. they seem far more interested in selling product than in providing sound and honest medical care even if that care includes knowing when it is best to say goodbye to your loved one. This place is wonderful! I have never had a bad experience here. The place is small but clean and the people are friendly. I have taken 4 pets there for quite a while and they have all been healthy. I have had a range of procedures done there anything from declawing and fixing to ear infections and vaccinations. This place has always been very fair and reasonable with their prices, which is why I came to this place in the first place. I always recommend this place to my friends who are looking for a new vet. More than once I've mentioned that I'm on a fixed income and have to watch my costs. I took my pet there to be declawed and was told the cost up front. However, while she was under her teeth were cleaned for an additional $30. I was not asked and did not authorized this procedure. Additionally, an elderly pet will require daily medication. The cost was between $1 to $3 per pill purchased at the office. Not a script that can be filled elsewhere. Take it or leave it, no affordable options. If you're on a fixed income pass him by. please do not take your beloved pet here! i had a dog i loved as a child for 13.5 years and began seeking help here for a breathing problem in jan. 09. this dr. blamed it on her weight without any further testing and suggested i put her on a special diet that he sold and that it what i did. she began losing the weight but the panting did not stop. after quite a few visits between jan. and june with the same problem i kept telling him something is wrong...he did a very blood analysis and told me she had a low thyroid problem. he put her meds for that and gave her anxiety meds also. about 2 weeks after that she was panting very heavily and collapsed. this was on a weekend so i took her to the animal emergency clinic. upon x rays they found that she had a collapsed larynx which was why she was panting like she was. they kept her overnight and advised i take her to the vet the very next morning. i took her back to this vet which didn't open until 9 and i was out in his parking lot for 2 hours waiting with my dog in the back panting like crazy...i was crying fiercely. i want to mention that his office is on the same property of his house and i called his house and to let him know i was there and how urgent this matter was and they said we dont open until 9. when he finally came in he said there was nothing he could do so i took her to plymouth in. to see a vet her did a bunch of test on her. called me and said her larynx was to severely collapsed to save her and i had to make a decision that devastated me which was let her go. i wonder if she would have had a chance had he diagnosed her properly back in jan. 09? i will never know.
