These folks should be embarrassed and ashamed of their behavior. It was Saturday and the shelters were closed. My friend's cat had just been euthanized for $110, a ridiculous price, at another vet but they wouldn't dispose of the cat's remains so she brought him home to be buried. The ground was still rock hard frozen and the cat couldn't be buried. The temperature was in the upper 50's so the issue of smell and disease was a serious concern. A family friend called their vet, Banfield's, who said they would dispose of the cat. When she arrived they said the cost was $185 just to dispose of the cat's body. No euthenization, just disposal. My friend being in a state of sadness and desperation wasn't thinking clearly. Banfields took advantage of the situation to way overcharge. My friend didn't have $200 to pay for a disposal, especially after paying $110 to euthanize. Over $300 to euthanize and dispose of a cat's body. For this price the cat could have had a shrine built. Greed. Nothing but greed by both vets. I worked at the Humane Society and we never charged such outrageous fees, especially when folks were in a state of sadness and loss. I know what it takes and costs to euthanize a pet having done it at the humane society. Banfields and the other vet should be ashamed. My friend will now have to forgo food and paying utilities just so Banfields could pad its bottom line after the death of a loved one. $200 is ridiculous and shameful. Never use Banfields. There are far better choices in pet care at far more reasonable prices. Read Less
