In short Red Cedar Animal Hospital is one of the best clinics I have ever been to. My reasoning for this comes from two different perspectives, as a behind the scenes volunteer and a client. As a volunteer I get the opportunity to see what happens when someone’s pet is taken out of a room for treatment in back. I can assure the technicians and the rest of the staff work hard to create a happy, calm environment that ensures a stress-free environment keeping pets happy and not afraid to come back (Lots of treats and love are given to each dog and cat). On the other hand, I also get to see Dr. Meining work with owners while their pet is away to go over their pet’s health in greater detail. This is one of the few clinics I have had the opportunity to work with where care for the animal’s well being placed as a priority. It is also a clinic where technicians and Dr. Meining work together to provide a comprehensive plan unique to your pet and ensure that owners understand their furry friends needs. Barbara Meining DVM and her incredible staff are the single most AMAZING veterinary team I have ever taken my cats to. I am a practicing research Zoologist and find it VERY difficult to locate a vet that is up to my standards. Dr. Meining teaches me something every time I visit, and has saved my older kitty from two separate terrible ailments. She also has extensive knowledge of the cat and dog show circuit and provided excellent insight when I brought in my new kitten. Dr. Meining promotes practical medicine for her clients. I never feel like I am being pushed to purchase unnecessary procedures or vaccines or being pressured into buying poor-quality food. The Vet techs and office staff are so friendly. They always get my cats into a room immediately to help them have a comfortable visit. I've been to a LOT of vet offices with really crotchety staff and these ladies are just gold. First, I must say that this is the only vet hospital that my pets actually enjoy coming to! They run to get in the door. I think this is in part due to the way the staff goes out of their way to always find a treat my dog likes and also they take their time to work with me and my pets. I never feel rushed and Dr. Meining does the most thorough exam my pets have ever had. Even my cat does well with his exam--there is always fresh catnip or a laser toy, plus they keep pheromones plugged in to help keep the cats calm. I have an old dog with arthritis and since starting their arthritis protocol, she is acting years younger. The therapy laser has been a wonderful addition to the protocol we were using. The technicians and front staff always make me feel like I'm working with family. For anyone who loves their pets and wants the best veterinary care around, I highly recommend this hospital. Really great service by entire staff. Very comprehensive exam by the vet and they were patient with my pet and took time to answer all my questions. I have been to other vets who just gave steroids for my dog's itching. Other options were discussed with us and now my dog's allergies are well controlled without all the steroid side effects.
