The vet tech was nice enough, but I am less than impressed with the vet that took care of my dog. He basically implied that I was lying about how my dog was injured. No he was not bitten by the big dog the big dog with nails that needed to get trimmed stepped on him. I know it's a weird injury but I watched it happen with my own eyes. Be advised that it is currently $90 to walk in the door and payment is due before you leave. For them to trim the dog's face. Clean the puncture wound, and give us a round of antibiotics cost $210. Emergency vets really have you over a barrel when it's late or its the weekend and your normal vet is closed. I am unsure if they offer any financing (nothing was offered) or if they accept any format of animal insurance. My dog will be fine, but I will probably look into the location of a different emergency vet for the future because of the vets attitude. My dogs are my children and while I had gotten myself together before we arrived I can't imagine dealing with this vet while emotional. Read Less

I found Roose Animal Hospital after an extensive search for a vet when we moved to Michigan in 2002.  Our dog was then 14, and in need of a lot of love and care.  I interviewed several vets; one wanted to have our dog undergo several surgeries, another suggested it was good she was old so I wouldn't have to worry about her getting along with my soon to be son, etc.  I finally found Dr. Roose, and while there were other vets closer, knew I had the perfect fit. In addition to reasonable fees, Dr. Roose is very down to earth in his veterinary approach.  He helped calmed my panic when dear Winter had any health issue, and he was so good with her when that final dreaded day came for her, at age 18.We moved away for several years, and were thrilled to return to Dr. Roose a few years ago with our new puppy.  His partner, Dr. Knight, is also wonderful with our pooch, and the staff has always been welcoming and helpful.  I have recommended this group to anyone who has asked me for a referral. Hello Yelpers, I visited this animal hospital *(Hence the photo I took with my Iphone) in Plymouth MI, with my daughter and we took our African Grey Parrot there. We visited this Animal hospital together and we took our bird to get weighed and to get the metal "breeders tag" off of her little leg because it was too tight, or getting too tight. When we walked into the front room /office /desk area. There was an employee  at the desk. She was in a very bad mood and when she finally called us up to the front to weigh our bird on the scale, she exclaimed very loudly in front of my daughter and me and another family that was in the waiting room area and front desk area; "I hate this place"! That made me feel a bit taken aback and not super comfortable having her handle our bird. But we were already there and we figured that she probably was just having a bad day and possibly she wouldn't be the one to give the care to our bird. Now, I did not go into the back room with my daughter and therefore I will not comment on the things she said about the treatment our bird received from that tech in the back "exam room". I can honestly say that when our bird came back out to the waiting area where I was waiting for them, she was visibly bothered, afraid, upset and unhappy. By the way, as my daughter was walking out of the exam room, I heard her say to the tech /employee " I have a question for the Dr. and I really need to ask the Dr specifically". The tech/employee told her that "the Dr. was not coming out to answer her question". We asked if we could wait a few minutes or anything so my daughter could ask her question to the Dr.? The employee just ignored us both and we left. For the purposes of this review, I'm only speaking of the part that I saw personally with the roughness on the scale, I feel if I hear someone say "I hate this place", then that negativity and harshness spills out into the people, animals or anyone that comes there for care.We had to just get the bird weighed and we never thought that would be distressing. I just thought it was necessary to note what I saw and heard first hand; because this is a "reviewers" corner and I feel that the things I saw and heart reflects on the business.   I'm sure that our negative experience was most likely an isolated incident. Maybe that employee was having a bad day? Lastly, I double checked and there are more than 14 "Avian Vet Clinics" in the Plymouth, Canton, Northville ,MI area!! Read Less

I've been taking my birds to Roose Animal Hospital for four years now. I have been overly satisfied with every step of their services. I have had the following services: check-up, gram stains, x-rays, and bloodwork. Dr. Roose and Dr. Knight explain what they are observing as they examine the bird right in front of you in easily understandable terms. They let you ask lots of questions (I mean lots) and listen well to how you describe your bird's behavior. They also ask you questions to pinpoint a diagnosis. I am the type who does as much research as possible and comes prepared with questions. They are not daunted by this at all and seem to enjoy being asked. They work with you on giving the minimal medications necessary and have more than enough natural and cheap solutions to keep your bird healthy or to restore your bird's health. If the prescribed medication is one used by humans, they are more than willing to call in the medication to a pharmacy by your home where you can often get the medication at a cheaper cost. I even requested certain products be mailed to me and they were willing to do that too! When one of my birds had x-rays, I wanted to have copies. Again, they were more than willing to put them on a cd disc for me free of charge. There have been numerous times I have called for advice on travel with my birds, diet, natural supplements, and beahvior issues. The staff kindly wrote down all my questions, reviewed them with me for accuracy of understanding, and I had a return call with all the answers in a 24 hour period. This has been free of charge. However, I do have an established relationship with them. Wait times for a scheduled appointment have been less than 15 minutes. If I had any complaint, it would be that sometimes I have to wait one to two days to get an appointment which can be serious with birds. However, Dr. Knight offered for me to drop off one of my birds and to observe throughout the day because they were completely booked. She also offered for me to bring in a poop sample and did a gram stain on a walk in basis and had results in less than 15 minutes. It's not that they purposely try to not give appointments. They are such a well liked vet, they are booked all the time. Read Less
