We took the puppy to be neutered and he came out missing 5 teeth!! When Dr. Karla Gorman discovered our 6 month old puppy still had 5 baby teeth, she decided to extract the teeth- without our knowledge or consent. **No written explanation. **Not even a phone call.** This was done during our first and only visit to the clinic. We took the puppy to be neutered and he came out missing 5 teeth!! A good vet will remember that there is always a pet owner attached to their patient. Even if pulling his teeth was well-intentioned, she was wrong to perform the procedure without our knowledge or permission. Honesty and transparency are the secret to quality pet care and satisfied owners. **We've decided to take our business elsewhere. Read Less

Wonderful assistants! LOVE Dr. Gorman! She's very knowledgeable and an exceptional diagnostician. She has not only extended the life, but improved the quality of the lives, of many of my animals over the years, with her knowledge of Holistic medicine. Dr. Gorman is also an active member and a great asset of Tri-County Collie Rescue (Michigan). She works hard caring for the dogs we take in as well as fostering them. Dr Gorman was absolutely fantastic with our kitty cat, Dante, after he injured himself and required surgery. She fit us in quickly for an initial exam, communicated well with the surgical clinic and emergency vet we had to see, called personally to check up on him and then also to assist with additional medication he needed, and was SO knowledgeable, caring and kind which Dante and I appreciated. I'd highly recommend this clinic! Thanks so much, Dr Gorman and your staff!!!!! Read Less

My kitty began limping and wincing in pain out of the blue. Although I typically took my cats to the Humane Society for their veterinary needs, they were not able to fit him in for an examination as quickly as I'd hoped. So, I contacted the Sheldon Veterinary Clinic. I was given an appointment only an hour and a half after I'd called, which I was incredibly grateful for. The female veterinarian conducted a thorough examination of the leg in question, ruling out broken bones, but identifying what truly was wrong. She found that he had a ligament tear at the knee and although she examined, was incredibly gentle and still able to figure out what was wrong with him. She was also incredibly kind, knowledgeable and easy to speak to. My kitty was so well taken care of that I now don't think that I could take him anywhere else! I highly recommend this vet as her love for animals, especially in the way that she handled him, was truly apparent. And upon checking out, I was actually surprised at how reasonable they were. I'd probably had paid the same, if not more, at the Humane Society which I couldn't believe. I do like the Humane Society, and still give them donations, but their hours of operation are less feasible and they are located a few miles further out. So, we found a new vet. :) I'll be taking my kitty mentioned, Dante, and his brother Max, here from now on. I am so grateful for how quickly they fit us in when I was so worried about him even having never been there in the past, and how wonderful the vet was! Read Less

I've went to several vets in the past, most of them very good & caring, and started seeing Dr Gorman when we became active in a local dog rescue group.  Dr Gorman is by far the best vet we have ever worked with.  She is patient & caring and won't give up on your dog even when the diagnosis is not the best.  She is very active in the local Collie rescue and usually has a few of her own Collies keeping company in the office each day.  She has helped us through our toughest rescue dogs and I've seen her bring back several dogs who were in really bad shape when they came into the group and given them many years of good life they would not have otherwise enjoyed.Dr Gorman is very active in promoting reduced pharmaceutical treatment.  Her first question always seems to be "what are you feeding her/him?"  Nutrition comes first, then medicines as needed.  She is very sensitive to patients with limited budgets and is very happy to work with you to keep cost of treatment reasonable.I'm so happy that after many years of looking, I've finally found the best veterinarian I could ever hope for.  She will be the only doctor I use from now on.  I cannot recommend her highly enough. I want to strongly urge you to not take your animals here. I went to see Dr. Gorman on a Saturday. My cat needed her anal glands expressed and Dr.Gorman suggested that they use gas anesthesia to have her asleep during the procedure. My cat has had gas anethesia before and has handled it with no problems.Well, when my cat woke up she was EXTREMELY sick. She was shaking and could not walk and was very lethergic. They told me that she would be fine and sent me on my way. My cat was NOT fine. In fact, she started vomitting. Over and over again. When I called Dr. Gorman's office, no one was there as it was Saturday. Turns out this cold-hearted bitch doesn't feel the need to list an emergency number in case she poisons an animal. Her voicemail did direct me to an a vet ER that was nearby. I took my cat here and they wanted to keep her overnight. Except they said I had to pay $1,800 dollars UP FRONT for them to do this "or she may die". I called a vet I used to go to and she helped me nurse my cat back to health. It turns out my cat was hypothermic, a reaction to an overdose of the anesthesia. My other vet's help is the ONLY reason I believe my cat is still alive. When I reached Dr.Gorman on Monday, she took absolutely NO responsibility. She said it was my fault because I didn't ask for a blood test before having the gas anethesia done. I am not in the animal care field and could not have known to ask for this. I asked if this is what she would say if my cat had died, she said yes. She said that my cat is probably severely ill to have a reaction like this, yet when I took her to another vet...she was pronouced COMPLETELY HEALTHY. Dr.Gorman is an evil, irresponsible vet. I fully believe that she (or her staff) gave my cat the wrong dose of the gas anesthesia. I say this to you from the bottom of my heart: Please protect your beloved pets from her. She will not look out for you or animals, especially in case of emergency. Read Less

Dr. Gorman caused great harm to my precious dog. She prescribed medication that was dangerous for his pre-existing condition and ultimately caused him to lose his hearing, she gave him x-rays that exposed him to dangerous radiation and caused his hair to fall out, she was always in a hurry to get me in and out so she could get the next person in. I suspect it's all about money for Dr. Gorman. When I confronted her about all of this, she told me I can't expect her to check every little thing on my dog. I love my dog so much and he's 13-years-old now. He may just be $$$ to her, but to me, he's a precious animal that has been a faithful companion for many years. I don't know if the person who wrote the good review about her is a staff member or a friend, but clearly they are not telling the truth. I didn't want to give a one-star rating, but you have to put something. Actually I would give a minus one if that were possible. Read Less

I've tried numerous vets that are a lot closer to my house but none can compare.  Dr. Goreman is extremely caring and well versed on newer veterinary philosophies with a focus on overall health.  She doesn't push the, "neuter your animals and load them up with vaccines" approach I've run into at more money grubbing offices.  She gives advice on more natural, over the counter, and affordable care options and only goes to the more traditional treatments when/if necessary.  Her first question was, "what do you feed your animals?"  That right there should tell you everything you need to know about her in that diet is the primary source of all health issues in animals.  She doesn't push some Science Diet junk on you and I don't even see food for sale in the office.  In fact, she will help you feed a balanced raw diet if you're so inclined. Dr. Gorman and staff have been WONDERFUL. We have had such good experiences that we recommended her to my parents when they became uncomfortable with care recommendations for the aging family dog from their own vet. Our (my fiance and I) dog is a three-year-old rescue bulldog that we adopted at age 2. Being a rescue, we had no way of knowing that she is severely epileptic and prone to cluster seizures. After a large emergency bill, I began to research veterinarians in our area that integrated holistic medicine into their practices, as I am quite familiar with some of the harsh side effects of classic epilepsy medication and I certainly didn't want that kind of life for our dog. We decided to give Dr. Gorman a try and couldn't be happier. With a combination of dietary adjustments, traditional medicine (at lower doses) and herbal supplements, our dog has been seizure and head tremor-free for six months and is as bright, energetic and alert as a puppy. As for the family dog, Dr. Gorman's recommendations got her eating where she had stopped, responding where she had been lethargic, and alert where she had been unresponsive. Her quality time on this earth was extended by at least ten months. Last month the time came where she had nothing left to give, and Dr. Gorman helped her to peacefully transition out of this world, a comfort for which my broken-hearted family could not be more grateful. I very enthusiastically recommend Dr. Gorman. We will turn to her for the care of our pets for a very long time to come. Read Less
