A few nights ago, my grandma was taking her blood pressure pills and accidentally dropped one on the floor. After much searching, my mom couldn't find it. But she did see their 9-month-old pup chewing something during the search but by the time she forced open her mouth there wasn't anything inside. My mom called me in a panic, "what do I do?! I don't know that she actually ate it." I told her I wouldn't mess around and to take her to an emergency vet. Full disclosure, I first told her to go the emergency vet by my house in Ann Arbor. We've taken our dog there a couple of times and we've had nothing but great experiences and the cost, while a bit pricey for emergency care, was not all that unreasonable. Alas, when she called ahead to see if they had a recommendation on what to do they told her they were diverting patients bc they had a big emergency they were dealing with. So my mom got the name of this place from her vet's website and away she went.My mom was a wreck so I decided to be a nice, supportive daughter and meet her there. Once I got there I was let back into the room to join them. Now, this room was TINY. Like, I could barely open the door to get inside kind of tiny. My mom and the vet were already in there and it was very cramped. For the few minutes we were back there it was fine, but if you have to spend any extended period there it'll feel a bit tight. As previously mentioned, the vet was already back there going over everything. He reassured her that, while what she likely ingested wasn't ideal, if they monitor her vitals all night and give her medication to combat low blood pressure/uneven electrolytes she should be fine with no long term damage. Needless to say we were very relieved and we left our sweet girl under their care for the evening.Although we were not so relieved when it came time to pay the bill! It was VERY pricey and we had to pay the majority before we left, rather than after. So be prepared for a higher end bill than many animal ERs in the area and the expectation that you'll pay upfront. That's the only reason they don't get 5 stars from me. I get emergent care is pricey but this felt VERY high. The staff was really nice, though. And my mom called several times that night to check on her and they were prompt and polite with their responses. The best news of all is that her pup came through just fine. She had some very mild symptoms but that was the worst of it. Still not 100% sure if she even ate it but we think she did. I went to pick her up the next day and we had a $60 balance, so they were pretty on the money with their estimate. I paid it and they brought her out and we were on our way. Clean facility, professional and very thorough. Just be prepared for a high price tag. Read Less
