I have been taking all my dogs here for many many years. Presently I take my 2 chi"s to Dr. Harper. She takes time to be very thorough with them both. They are always eager to see her, never scared. She gives me awesome recommendations and follow up. Dr Harper & Steve are so caring. Steve follows up to make sure they are ok after shots. They also board them when I am on vacation. I recently had the pleasure of taking my pet to Plymouth beech Animal Hospital, the staff are wonderful and always filled with joy. HOWEVER Dr. Harper is far from it , she’s a TERRIBLE Doctor. I brought my puppy in to start her vaccines but due to family circumstances I wasn’t able to get her in before they expired. The staff informed me that I had to start over, no problem. I started over and I had an appointment that Saturday, unfortunately I couldn’t make it. Dr. Harper then called me and told me how terrible of a person I am for not making my appointment and I needed to come in ASAP otherwise I wouldn’t be able to be serviced there! I spoke with the young lady and she confirmed that not to be true. If you want to take your pets to this clinic just request another Doctor!!! Read Less

I have been bringing my pets to them for years. The doctors are always concerned with their health. Dr. Harper is very friendly calling them "love" or "sweetie". My cats listen better to her than me. Read Less

Dr Harper has cared for my dog Bella for 3 years. Bella is always very happy to see her! I always know that Dr Harper cares about the health of my pet and that she will be well cared for. Dr Harper took her time examing her and was very thorough . She made sure that I had the information I needed for her care.I wouldn't want anyone else caring for her! Read Less

I have been bringing my Dogs there for YEARS , I also Breed dogs. My experience has always been Amazing with Dr Lynch, However if Dr. Harper is there I REFUSE to bring any of my dogs there. She is rude and refers to my dogs as little Idiots. She even once told my boyfriend he was a terrible Breeder. We had a phone conversation today and she was beyond disrespectful calling me a dumb for thinking I can breed dogs on my own. I was told that it might be possible that my cats have ear mites because it was in the dogs stool, so I i asked what could I do about it and I was told that if she had ever seen the pet it would have never happened in the first place. She is extremely slow at what she does so If you have a 9:00 am appointment with her don’t expect to leave until 7:00 pm. She is by far the WORST Doctor I have ever came across. I have been taking my pets here for 10+ years. Almost always 5 star service, but I gave 4 stars due to a very negative experience with Dr. Harper. She is very abrasive, condescending and rude. She may be a good vet, but she is terrible with people. I asked for a notation in our file that we will NOT deal with her and was told that MANY people feel the same! Then why is she still there, driving away business. I have literally gone elsewhere if she was the Dr. on duty. The rest of the staff is fantastic though! Read Less

Very rude both location I took my poodle in July 29th 2017 for shots and she hasn't eatin or drunk any water since she's been home and now she's leaning to the side Dr.Harper was the vet I dnt know what they did to my poodle so now I'm headed to animal emergency I might have a law suite on my hands I so mad oh yea never called with my dogs blood work results had to chase her down at there other rude location in Livonia I'm highly upset!!!!!! I loved the office workers, they were great! However, Dr. Harper was far from it. We went in with a newly adopted dog for routine vaccines and a nail trim. It turned into the WORST vet visit ever! She is ridiculously abrasive. Despite having told her that we just got this dog two days prior, she began lecturing us on how we are not properly caring for him. After giving him his vaccines and taking forever to cut his nails (still lecturing us), she starts to send us on our way. Oh but wait, she forgot to take blood for his heart worm test! So, she has to put him back on this lift table thing (cause she can't bend over), freak him out all over again to take blood. Then she couldn't find his vein. Finally at the counter to pay where she is pushing me to buy heartworm prevention there. I've already told her I'm purchasing it elsewhere at that point. Then she tells me he can come back for a three year rabies in 12 months. They gave him a one year rabies and didn't inform me until after the fact! I said when I walked in that I wanted the three year. All in all, she was terrible and doesnt listen a word you say. We own a dog, we foster, we rescue, we know what we are doing. She wouldn't hear any of it and went on about how we are awful, basically. Based on a dog that we literally just got and are trying to care for properly. Read Less

I had previously considered not returning here because they are constantly calling last-minute to change appointment times. Finally today was my third and final time dealing with this animal hospital. I held my dogs outside as two small dogs barked incessantly inside. Finally the receptionist came out to walk one of the women with the smaller dog outside and never even acknowledged me or mentioned that she would be right back, instead she rudely "barked" "you better behave" at my dog. After waiting a few minutes and seeing no one at the desk, we decided to leave. When the reception woman asked me why were were leaving go informed her it was due to her rudeness and their lack of ability to separate large and small dogs. Read Less

The clinic, itself is lovely however the DVM we saw will never touch my dogs again. Dr. Betty Jean Harper has been practicing veterinary medicine for 37 years and while she may care for the animals she sees her table side manner is far from caring.  When I took my little guy into the clinic for a check up, I was admittedly nervous.  He's a recent addition with no prior vet care to my knowledge.  She looked him over and the first thing she told me is I should neuter him. First, he is thirteen years old and a Neuter is an unnecessary, invasive procedure.  I mentioned my hesitation due to the risk of putting him under anesthesia. I reiterated that he is thirteen years old.  She argued my decision by telling me she puts her sixteen year old dog under for a dental every six months.  It was not only incredibly rude but rather uneducated to suggest he would be fine because her dog is fine.  My boy could have an adverse reaction to the anesthesia. My dog is not her dog and I said No. That alone should be respected.  Aside from my decision to decline Neuter let's look at some studies.:* [naiaonline.org/pdfs/Long…*  [dogcancerblog.com/blog/s… Of course she was too busy trying to guilt trip me into neutering him (by stating false statistics on cancer and fear mongering) to be bothered by science. She then checked his teeth. Several have fallen out since bringing him home in November. I know he needs many pulled.  I know he has Gingivitis. She gave me the most condescending look and spoke to me like I had done it to him.  She looked at me like I let him get that way.  She told me he would have to be put under for a tooth extraction.  I knew that.  I still do not want him neutered.  Tooth extractions are medically necessary for him.  Her next comment was that his submandibular lymphnodes are swollen. She said she wanted to do a blood panel.  She quoted me a price but I could not afford it that day. I told her this.  Again,  She was judging me. I said I have to discuss finances with my partner.  She started fear mongering again,  starting that it could simply be from his teeth or it could be a sign of cancer. What she didn't say is it could also be allergies, it could be a number of things but she focused on cancer. When I mentioned, again, that I couldn't do it that day she asked me about CareCredit. I didn't say I couldn't come up with the money, it's  just a matter of moving bills around. Instead of taking this for an answer she left the room and came back with a care credit pamphlet with the website and number to apply circled. She wanted me to apply right then and there in the office.Since I didn't have any prior records on my little man we had to do a rabies vaccine while we were there.  Not a big deal.  She asked if I knew what vaccines were "required".  By law, the only vaccine required is Rabies and that vaccine needs to be administered by a licensed DVM. So, She gave me a list of vaccines he will "need" - Distemper, Adenovirus Type 1 (Hepatitis), Parvovirus, Leptospirosis, Bordetella, Lyme, if we travel, and I could if I wanted - Coronavirus. She told me they were required and had to be given by a DVM (not true).  I'm not anti-vaccine by any means however,  I don't believe overdosing his system all at once especially not with swollen lymphnodes we don't have a cause on. I had brought my 4 year old (intact) Doberman girl with me. After I declined the idea of neutering the chihuahua earlier and Dr. Harper went on her fear monger cancer "stat " rant she mentioned breast and uterine cancer and glanced at the doberman. My doberman is a show dog so no, she will not be unnecessarily spayed. Not that she even asked Why I chose to keep both dogs intact. On my way out of the exam room she, blocking the door,  asked if I wanted her to prescribe antibiotics incase his lymphnodes were due to infection.  I declined.  Why? We don't know that it is an infection.  I'm not feeding him antibiotics because it might be an infection.  To top it all off she told me my small man was underweight by a few ounces. He weighs six pounds even,  he's in incredible shape for his age and if she's going to nit pick over "a few ounces" she doesn't need my business. The only nice thing she had to say about my senior boy is that his ears are incredibly clean. Overall,  Dr. Harper was judgmental, rude, pushy and condescending. I understand she has been with the clinic (s) but I think with the number of people who refuse to be seen by her (which i learned from the absolutely  wonderful woman at the front desk)  the owner needs to reconsider keeping this woman on staff. It's  not okay to treat clients like that, it's not okay to guilt trip people into things they cannot afford that day.  It's never okay to lie to clients and you certainly do not speak to them in a condescending, judgemental tone for ANY reason. All of the experiences I've had with Plymouth Beech Animal Hospital have been great! Dr. Wuerth is the doctor there and she is really good with my puppy. The office overall is great and I love the personal attention they give to my puppy such as calling after a visit to see how he is doing, remembering his name, etc. I am also new to having a puppy so I have a lot of questions and they always give in depth polite answers and never make me feel silly.Read Less
