A great big "Thank you" to everyone involved in Tessa's care when she was sick after, unbeknownst to us, eating a chunk of corncob. Thank you to the tech staff for instructions and kind handling of Tessa. Thank you to Dr. McInnis for initial exams and x-rays. A huge thank you to Dr. Booth for feeling something in Tessa's abdomen when nothing showed on the x-rays and blood work was normal. You gently guided us to decide on immediate exploratory surgery. Also a huge thank you to Dr. Farr and her surgical team for removing the obstruction without any complications. Tessa is now back to her playful, energetic puppy behavior and enticing our other lab to play! I'm constantly scouring our yard to keep an eye out for any corncobs or other potentially troublesome items. My Betsy broke her leg about 8 weeks ago. Dr. Duncan worked on Betsy. He put pins and screws to repair her leg. Betsy’s system rejected the pins and screws, so Betsy’s leg ended up needing to be amputated. They took excellent care of my sweet Betsy and tried hard to fix her leg. I was not charged extra for her care and they treated her like their own. I greatly appreciate their efforts. I would trust Dr. Duncan and all the staff with my sweet fur babies. They are amazing! Dr. Gillespie is our pets vet and he is the best. He truly cares for the animals and knows how to handle my furry canine baby that has a fear of vets that can come off as aggressive. Took him to a different vet there last time and she did not even do an exam because she wouldn't let me stay with him to help calm him. She completely missed that the pain was being caused by a torn nail. Yet, I was still charged for a vet examination that never happened. We will not be seeing any vet here but Dr. Gillespie. The staff is kind, friendly and welcoming and they usually do not over charge. They really didn't know what to do about the vet charging for an exam she didn't do. I wish I could give them zero stars, but, unfortunately, you have to pick at least one. Horrible service. I called today for the second time in 2 weeks, trying to get an appointment for my dog. The lady asked for the pet's name and when she found out he's not a patient, she said they have no appointments, and I should try again tomorrow. They did have appointments for existing patients though. I would say that that is somebody who really cares about the pet's well being. NOT. Extremely disappointed with this place and shocked that the reviews are so high. I understand that they have a routine, but she also showed no compassion or regrets that she had to turn away a patient in need of medical attention. On the contrary, she was extremely cold and rude. Over the past 30+ years, I've trusted Dr. Monica and his team to care for my dogs who mean more to me than anything else in my life. They get this and have seen us through routine and crisis, always offering sound advice, open communication, great care and excellent service. Medicine and patient care have changed a lot over this span of time and Dr. Monica keeps up, offering us more holistic solutions which he knows I am interested in. Although he is amazingly spot on with what is going on with my dogs, Dr. Monica is always willing to explain and I have learned more about medicine from my vet than any of my doctors. Dr. Monica has taken care of my cats and dogs for 17 1/2 yrs. He is caring,gives a complete explanation of what's happening and takes the time to answer my many questions. I live an hour away but make the trip because it's an amazing place. Everybody here is so friendly and it's always miraculously clean for a vet office. They've saved my dogs life 3 times, when 2 other vets told me to put her down. I wouldn't recommend anywhere else. We've seen Dr. Duncan, who performed a surgery on my miniature dachshund's broken back that was told my others couldn't be fixed. Dr. Monica, who saved her from a back injury relapse, where she lost function of her back legs and brought her back to walking. Dr. Pillsbury who recognized that she had pyometra when we thought she was going through another back injury, and finally Dr. Farr who did the pyometra operation. The front desk squeezed us in when they were absolutely booked because they knew how concerned I was and listened when I told them I had a busy schedule and that alone let our dog get medical attention faster. I have been taking my pets to OAH since 2003. 9 months ago my dog took a grave turn and we thought we would lose her. Dr Monica and the staff at OAH have taken such great care of her that I am so happy to say she is still here with us living a great quality of life. Just moved to town in January 2011 and was referred here by the Animal Emergency Center across the street. I've been 4 times since January with my FLUTD cat for very short notice appointments. I've never had a problem getting a same day appointment (although I have always called before noon). The vets and staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. The exam fee is pretty cheap ($30), office call is $12, and they don't seem to over charge on other items either. Their hours are also very convenient, open 7am-8pm Monday-Thursday, 7am-5pm Friday, & 7:30am-2pm Sat. I think it is pretty rare to find a vet with such long hours. The Pet Portal website they use is also very handy for keeping all your pets medications and information readily available for you.*edit*I would like to add that my cat had PU surgery here March 2013 and removal of a tumor in his intestine in June 2014. We have moved away but drove an hour so Dr. Duncan could perform the surgery. Everything went great! And they were very helpful and kind through the whole process.
