Have been going to this vet for years and had a lot of rude comments made by the doctors. The vet techs are amazing and are extremely nice which is opposite of the doctors. If not for the doctors I would keep coming here with my 4 animals. The last straw was over an emergency call answered by Dr. Barkam Sr. who acted like it was no big deal that a tube fell out of my dogs ear following a surgery (it was clearly stated to call in if this happened). Will not be returning and would not recommend this vet if you would like respectful care for your pets.Read Less

Best vet i have ever been to. They care more about the animals then the money in your pocket. And the Dr.s in there are great. They do an awesome job caring for the animals . And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to take your animal there either . Read Less

I've been going to them since the early 90's when I lived close. I have lived in Davisburg and Holly area for just over 10 years and STILL drive the 27 miles back to this clinic for the wonderful care and service I've always received. I give this hospital 5 stars for the care of my pet but a 1 star for selling me tick and flea med that has a $15 rebate. When you go to claim your rebate, the damn place want to know a thousand things about you. It's none of their business and for Paint Creek to put their customers through this is terrible! I've been going here for several years now, the staff are both friendly and very knowledgeable. More so than any other place, they seem to put the well being of your pets above simply making money. Our various pets have been patients of the Barkham family for 22 years, both dogs and cats. When we go on vacations, our pets stay in the clinic's onsite kennel. Four years ago it was time for our 14-year-old Golden Retriever, Buddy, to go across the "rainbow bridge," and young Dr. Tom and an assistant came to our home for the procedure. He gave us plenty of time with Buddy beforehand and afterward, and handled everything with extreme compassion and caring. Chester, our 6-year-old Lab mix is a happy guy and, thanks to the knowledge and skill of the doctors, was able to bounce back after they successfully removed a huge splenetic tumor 19 months ago. The care and concerns they have for your pet is tremendous, as if it was their own. They are very friendly and cost conscious, my dog has been cared for by the family of Vets for 7yrs. I recent lost our dog, and they were very compassionate and consoling, and took care of all the arrangements for cremation. When I first discovered Paint Creek I was so thrilled and relieved to have finally found a high quality vet with such reasonable prices. However, my most recent experience has unfortunately turned me away from this clinic for good. Dr. Barkham's poor bedside manner and utter lack of professionalism left me in complete disbelief.  On their website they state that they "believe an educated pet owner makes the best decisions for their pet. We do our best to help our clients fully understand and take care of their animal's needs." I beg to differ. When I picked up my dog after surgery I expected that the doctor would follow up with me and educate me on how the surgery went, what the recovery would look like, what complications may arise and how I should handle them. However, when I arrived to pick up my dog, the doctor had taken off for the day. I had specific questions for him regarding the surgery but no one there was able to answer them and I was handed a piece of paper with general post-op directions. My dog was sent home with an exposed wound, no antibiotics and only 2 days worth of pain meds. We were in no way set up for a successful recovery and I am still kicking myself for not realizing it and speaking up at the time.  When I had to go back to the clinic with complications and the concern that the wound would become infected, I was condescended by Dr. Barkham and shamed for allowing my dog's stitches to come undone. He became argumentative and disrespectful, at one point he actually muttered to himself (referring to me) "why can't people follow simple directions?" He was in no way considerate of my viewpoint of the situation and made me feel like such a lousy dog owner. He left the room after removing my dog's stitches and as if his behavior wasn't unprofessional enough, I could hear him talking poorly about me to other employees about how "pissed off" I was. An assistant of his came back into the room shortly after, hugged me and actually apologized for the doctor's behavior. It was then that I got the feeling that this was not the first time Dr. Barkham's assistants have had to do damage control for him. Dr. Barkham, do us and our pets a favor and retire. We've been bringing our cats and dogs to P.C.A.C. for 20 years and would never go anywhere else (though I've had to when on vacation and before I found them). Not only are they extremely affordable, but they are also gentle and willing to talk with us for extended periods.The whole support staff is friendly and up beat, and the three Dr. Barkhams are kind and knowledgable. When one of my dogs was extremely ill, they gave me their home number to call if there was a major change, I needed advice or just felt in need of support.My poodle ,a recent adoption from a shelter, is terrified by the vet, but they have been nothing but gentle and patient. If I could give 0 stars I would. You approach a dog aggressively and you wonder why a dog snaps at you! You blame the dog snapping on the owners problems and not your own. When a dog is a puppy and it snaps, it's you.I went with a neighbor and their dog and you treated that family horribly.  Wonder what you do to dogs that aren't in the view of others.Neverrrrrr taking my dog here. Ever.I should also mention that you shaved her belly so quickly without talking to the puppy and she peed all over the floor from fear and you wouldn't stop to calm her down. Instead another employee came over and pinned her down to finish what you began. This practice is horrible but you got peed on so congrats! Read Less

By far the best vet anywhere , I drive from Waterford to go here, from the front end staff to the Doctors they are amazing kind and loving! Very fair prices never rush you out. This is a great veterinary office!  Highly recommend, and have always trusted their care of our dog.Owned by a family with a great history in the area, three family members (2 generations) are the vets here. Paint Creek Animal Clinic is the absolute BEST veterinary office in the area. Dr. Barkham is a real veterinarian. He genuinely cares about animals and knows what he's doing. The rates are very affordable too. Whether you have a cat, dog, cow, horse, pig, it doesn't matter what kind of animal. I would not hesitate to take your pet here.
