Veterinary General is the very best veterinary office for your pet. My dog Maddy has several issues such as IVDD and is partially paralyzed from when she was 4 years old, to severe allergies that’s she’s also had since birth to environmental allergens and food. I have been to top-notch specialty vet hospitals such as MSU, OVRS, and Dogwood in Ann Arbor and Veterinary General is the only place I would consider taking my dog for her regular veterinary care. The staff and doctors are amazing, they are extremely bright and caring, and they know what they’re doing. They also offer holistic modalities such as acupuncture and cold-laser therapy when appropriate. The office is immaculately clean, as clean as a human doctor’s office. The other great thing is you don’t have to sit and wait around when you have an appointment. They don’t overbook and they see your animal in a timely manner. This is important when you have a dog like mine that is paralyzed and needs to be held. I read on here someone saying the vet is weird like a serial killer. Are you serious? He’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet! If you call getting on the floor and talking to a dog weird, well, I guess you just don’t see things the way most of us do. I see it as getting to know your animal on their level and making them feel comfortable with them when they are scared. Don’t let that comment scare you off. He’s the most normal guy around. I have lost pets in the past and sometimes it’s easy to try to blame the vet because of your loss. For that I feel very sorry for you. However, I can’t recommend this office enough. If you want the best care, bring your animal here. Read Less

People might read that review and think in order to have their cats nails trimmed they sedate them. I think as long as your cat is relatively calm your cat won't need to be sedated and it wont be 150$. they always give every option that there is for your pet's health, and you might not decide to take all the options but at least you were educated about everything you can do to take care of your pet. Veterinary General is distinguished for its reliable and comprehensive veterinary services designed to meet the needs of pet owners. The Veterinary General in Shelby Township offers support to Michigan pet owners by providing guidance that fits within their household routine and their animals’ behavioral patterns while focusing on the long-term health shifts. The initial consultations aim to create a relaxing atmosphere where the pet will be given time to explore services and express its feeling without hurry. The veterinary team observes certain parameters before starting the examination, such as eye and tail movements, changes in gait and posture. Physical checkups include joint tracking, hydration analysis, weight monitoring, gum tone, coat texture, and thermal regulation patterns. Owners keep track of the morning routine and sleep cycles or vocal tendencies, noting any recent deviations in the animal’s behavior. Veterinary General offers an extensive array of treatment plans tailored to various needs, including acute issues, surgical procedures, seasonal and chronic care. Support encompasses lab and imaging referrals, infection control for senior animals, and recovery checklists. The plans’ organization and timeline are deliberate to ensure that owners remain informed but not overwhelmed, especially in multifaceted situations (such as multiple pets or medical conditions). The essence of communication remains pivotal. Notes are sent after every visit, while follow-ups depend on the pet’s adjustment progress and not fixed calendar reminders. Programs also educate owners to notice even minor signs of regression or “progress” in the puppy’s development. The elements of pacing, choice-based scheduling, and reassurance strategies define long-term care. Veterinary General ensures that the services offered by veterinarians in Shelby Township, Michigan, and the surrounding areas rely on animal behavior and family input to create a plan to implement from start to finish.
