Southgate Animal Hospital is pretty excellent in most ways, particularly if you have exotics. They have a caring team of vet techs who always make a fuss about how adorable my pet rats are (even when they're extremely sick).I take all of my rats to see Dr. Keith Cook (one of the three vets who works there, including his wife, also called Dr. Cook, so make sure to specify that you want Dr. Keith Cook, should you call). He came excellently recommended to me by a vet at the Emergency Center in Commerce Township that I went to several years ago when one of my rats fell in his cage and hurt his hip/leg. She told me that "Dr. Keith is the vet that vets take their own pets to." I can't really say that I've authenticated this claim, but it wouldn't surprise me. He's creative and thoughtful and extremely thorough in his exam and diagnosis and willing to talk potential avenues of treatment out with me. My rats also tend to really love climbing all over him, which I tend to think is a pretty good recommendation. The office provides an estimate of costs (printed out for you) for you to look over and okay before any procedures happen. One thing I wish was a little bit better (and that I've somewhat fixed in my own case by asking a lot of questions) was more clarity on medication time-tables. I'm never quite sure if the point is to take all the medicine until it's gone and that's the end of it, or if I need to call in for refills or if I'm typically given extra doses in case I lose a few if the rat isn't being cooperative in taking his medicine. But now I just ask questions of the tech to make sure -- but make sure you do the same!I know absolutely nothing else about the office besides their care of exotics, although obviously they see dogs and cats (and birds....). Based on discussions I've had with Dr. Keith, I think he's taken care of pretty much the broad range of rodents (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, etc) that people keep as pets as well as iguanas. I don't know about snakes or ferrets. But it can't hurt to call and ask! Read Less
