Doctors Davenport & Wilson are caring and compassionate physicians. Advanced was NOT the most or the lease expensive clinics I called when called around looking for Kennedy's (yellow American Lab) care givers almost a year ago. Kenny had several food issues that they help us isolate the source (chicken), Dr. Wilson's own pup has had food issues and was helpful to trying OTHER brands from what they sell. I did not feel "oversold" there and as I'm in sales I'd see it coming a mile away!! I won't bore you with the explosive diarrhea stories either. Be careful of what you pay for in cheaper clinics, you may get JUST that.... CHEAPER not less expensive. They have chipped & spay my little one too, I trust the fully. Brought my terminally ill dog here because it was the closest vet to my location, overall I feel that service here was decent but inefficient and very pricey relative to other locations. An xray cost $180, after doing some research afterward that is definitely much higher than what other vets charge. My dog is very old and has chronic heart problems and many other chronic terminal conditions and sought to visit the vet for medical treatment. My dog is so ill that even someone with absolutely no medical background could see what is wrong with her, very apparent symptoms. After expressing my concerns to the doctor, she came up with very many expensive and unnecessary tests that were unrelated and unhelpful to my dog's problem which I refused to accept, it was like the vet was trying to do experimental trials on my dog. I wanted a recommendation on some medicine for my dog and the vet suggested 3 different blood pressure lowering medications without even recommending taking my dog's blood pressure first before starting treatment, very important to know the blood pressure reading before starting 3 medications that have the effect of lowering blood pressure, I had to insist to have it done. After it was completed, the vet came in and just said it was normal, no actual reading, no documentation of the result. After waiting over 2 hours in the waiting room just for a simple xray and blood pressure result, it took over 20 minutes just to get checked out and leave and there were no other people in the office. Definitely could have been a more efficient process. Also felt like there was quite a sales pitch to buy a variety of different products which I felt was not of use or necessary for my suffering dog. Sometimes we need people to be knowledgeable and efficient and not necessarily friendly, this is more important than seeking friendship like others comment here. Many people here comment on how friendly they are here at this location, well how could they not be? They have every reason to be friendly because they get rich off of our suffering animals! I was so nervous about bringing my dog to a new vet after 2 years. Advanced Animal Hospital was wonderful! Dr. Wilson was so friendly, and so was the rest of the staff. Everyone was great with my dog; he loved them! I didn't feel pressured to tack extra services onto my bill. I wasn't rushed out when my appt was over. I was listened to. I will definitely be back! I wanted to start by saying that the staff is amazing. Three days ago and picked up my first dog in 25 years. KENNEDY is a 13week old yellow Pointing Lab, she has not had her 12 week shots when I picked her up. I hopped on yelp was horrified by some reviews of other area Vets. Young lady at the front desk checked with the doctor and they were able to see us with an only a 30 minute wait without an appointment. Dr. Wilson's personality and demeanor are absolutely fantastic. We recently had the heartbreaking experience of having to let our long-time family pet rest peacefully. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Wilson, Dr. Davenport, and the entire staff. They were friendly and compassionate with myself, my husband, and out cat. They explained everything, gave us time to process things, and most importantly, were kind. We left with a paw print in clay, and a week later received a card signed by the staff. The facility was clean, and we were able to book appointments quickly when needed. We took our poor pup after noticing increased urination and blood in her urine.They were able to squeeze her in last minute, and even then, we were not stuck waiting for 2-3 hours total as I have at every other vet we have been to. We talked to a total of four employees including the veterinarian. Each person was personal, knowledgeable, and seemed to have taken a genuine interest in both our sick pet, and our concerns. We were able to get a proper diagnosis and have gotten follow ups on test results and asking how she was doing in the exact time frame that they promised. We will definitely be a return customer. I had to bring my dog in for a quality of life check up... One of the most hardest thing to do. And they made me feel like my dog is very important, like a family member. so far so good they said.... a few years ago my cat had to be put down and they made it a lot more easy and comfortable as any body could.... and I thank them for it... Do not take your pet here. I had a sick cat and my regular vet was 2 weeks behind. The doctor put her through 3 different antibiotics. She was vomiting water and not eating even after anti-nausea injection. They wanted to giver her an appetite stimulant. Once I was able to get in to my regular vet because she was really bad and they would not let me bring her in same day, I was told this is more than just an infection - cancer and I had to put her down. This was so obvious to my vet that no tests were even needed. I wasted 2 weeks, time and money and most of all put my cat through unnecessary pain. Read Less

i came to this vet 3 years ago they saw me last minute for a cat with advanced renal failure the staff and doctors were very nice, kind and compassionate. this trip was after the vet i went to for many years was very rude and told me i should have made an appointment for the vet to see my dying cat. i wholly recommend this vet to anyone looking for kind compassionate and sympathetic people. the staff even sent me a card saying how they were sorry for my loss. My 9 yr. old dog Odin has been been coming here since he was a pup. I wouldn't trust him at any other vet. They know who he is everything he comes in. His 2 surgery (rear knee repair & growth removal) were performed by Dr. Laura Davenport. And because of her Odin is still a 9yr. old puppy! Read Less

I took my kitten here, easily the best vet I have ever been to. I was ten minutes late for the appointment, and I called and they assured me I was not to worry and to get there when I could. Upon arriving I was met with nothing but smiles and "aw's" over my kitten. We were seen right away, and the exam was the absolute most personal and thorough I've ever seen. They were very gentle with my kitten and he was so comfortable he was purring the whole time. Prices are very good as well, and they are not pushy about products as some vets can be. The entire staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They make us feel that they love and care about our dog as much as we do. Dr. Wilson even called to check on how treatment was going. When I had to put down my 22 year old cat, AAH couldn't have been nicer or more compassionate. They   let us take our time and were very respectful that he was much loved and didn't try to rush us through. A week or so afterwards, we received a beautiful card in the mail signed by the entire staff and it was such a wonderful gesture I was moved to tears.We also take our dog here and cannot speak highly enough of the service and care he receives. I cannot express how unsatisfied I was with this facility. My cat was having an issue with his back paws to where they were bleeding and losing nails. I was out of town when I found out and immediately called to make an appointment. The first time I called they were closed because of the holiday. They called me back the next day and I set up an appointment for 7:00pm the following day. When I got back into town later that day I realized just how sick my cat was. I called the next morning to make an early appointment, they get me right in. Everything was going well until I showed up the office. The assistants and doctor were 100% clueless to what was going on with my cat. They said, "I have never seen anything like this, we are going to have to run some tests to find out." Really.... They gave me a quote and it was $300. I couldn't believe it. I told me I couldn't afford to do all the test and to just do the one they felt most relevant. My cat was extremely irritated, hissing, and scratching. I could hear him crying in pain from the back room. Once they returned my cat I could hear the doctor and assistance high-fiving each other on a job well done. I was sick to my stomach. The doctor came in 10 minutes later to tell me the test came up negative, gave me some pain medication and I was out the door. Later that day my cat had a seizure! I called the vet's office right away with great concern and they told me to, "Monitor him for the night and we can see me in the morning." My cat was in so much pain and I was begging for help!! Three hours later he had another seizure!! I called the vet's office back (they were still open) and they told me, "There is nothing we can do. You need to take him to emergency." Which was all the way in Rochester. I had to put my cat down later the night because of the negligence at this veterinarians office. DO NOT TAKE OUR PET HERE! Read Less

Loved this place. Was able to get an appointment the next day.  When I got there, no wait - saw a doctor right away.  Agree with other reviews that they try to sell you the most they can, but just tell them you don't want it.  Staff was awesome and I could tell they all love animals. Read Less

My family has been taking our pets to Advanced Animal hospital for years. The entire staff is extremely friendly and it's very easy to see that they are passionate about what they do. We have always felt at ease when our pets are in their care. My only complaint is that this place often upsells items, vaccines, and procedures that I don't  think are quite necessary. A few weeks ago, we brought our yorkie in for a cold and to get some vaccines, we learn that she needs oral surgery for a baby tooth she still has. Fine, but when we bring her back this week for the vaccines, now we have pre bloodwork before the surgery to worry about and they try to sell us ear cleaning solution on top of it. A few weeks ago when the last vet checked her ears, they were fine. Every time we bring in a pet with one minor issue, they seem to walk out with more minor issues than they had before.Aside from that, these folks are absolutely wonderful! Read Less

I take all three of my cats here. In Jan it was time to let our 15 year old cat go. The staff there was wonderful as could be to help go through Sassy's passing. We moved and now live in Shelby Twp we drive to AAH in Sterling Heights. Dr. Wilson is an awesome vet and took care of Sassy throughout her years. Now the boys go there yearly for their checkups. They handle them with care as Bennycat does not like to be picked up by the neck. No way I would change vets no way. Now we have a new addition BeBe and she will be going to the staff at AAH. Great place, staff was friendly and knowledgeable! They got me in within an hour and this was my first visit there. They treated my cat and family with respect and truly helped my fur baby with her infection..even kept my wild 3 year old son happy with crayons and a coloring book :-) I will definitely be back again!! My family and I have been taking my dog to AAH since we got her as a puppy. While we have always gotten the right care and attention for our beloved puppy, we always felt like something wasn't right as far as pricing is concerned. It wasn't until my dog needed surgery last month that we truly realized that AAH was not the right vet for us. We took our dog in because she was vomiting and had diarrhea. The doctor took a look at her and after examining her, thought there might be an object in her stomach that she may have swallowed. Without a thought, we wanted to know what we could do to heal our pup. The doctor suggested they run some tests and keep her on an IV for a few hours to see how she would react in the hopes that she would naturally pass the object. We went home, and received a call that she was not passing the object naturally and would need surgery. The first thing we had to do was pay the bill from the day, which totaled about $450 dollars. That includes our dogs exam, the test they ran on her and for keeping her on the IV for three hours. We paid, trusting that AAH would not be cheating us. Then we asked about our options for surgery and were given quotes of anywhere from $2000-$3500 for the procedure. That news was devastating because our family could not afford a surgery that might end up saving our dogs life.We were heartbroken and talked as a family about what we should do. My sister remembered a vet that her friend told her about so we called Wilson's Veterinary Hospital in Washington, MI. It was the best decision we ever made. They took in my dog, gave her the utmost love and care and talked to us about their prices. They quoted us a price range of $750-$1400 depending on how invasive the surgery had to be. We agreed, considering this was much better than the $3500 we were originally quoted by AAH.Wilson's performed the surgery, cared for my dog post-op for three days and kept us informed every few hours on her progress. We felt so relieved that our baby was going to be okay. When we went to go pick her up three days after her surgery, the final price blew us away. $800 dollars for everything, including the surgery, the care she received for three days and the medicine she needed when we got home. Please explain to me, AAH, how you can justify charging $450 dollars to run tests and keep my dog for three hours on an IV, when Wilson's performed surgery, cared for her and had her on an IV for three DAYS and only charged us $350 dollars more? We are so disappointed in a vet that we trusted with our beloved dog. I even tried to give AAH another chance last week when we received notice that our dog was due for vaccines. AAH quoted us $145. Wilson's quoted us $93 for the exam same set of vaccines. How dare you take advantage of pet owners who turn a blind eye, trusting you not to cheat them out of precious money. They know you'll pay anything to keep your pet healthy and they will gouge you out of every dime you have. Do yourself a favor and avoid AAH. Take it from someone who has probably spent hundreds of dollars more than they ever should have because I trusted my vet. Not anymore. Read Less

The team at Advanced Animal Hospital could not be better. I took my dog in for her first visit. The visit was not planned and I had to walk in for an emergency visit. They took wonderful care of her from the very beginning of the visit until we left. My first visit to Advanced Animal Hospital was a rough one in October 2012. I was there because I had to put my Westie Girl to sleep. The staff was remarkable. From the minute I walked in the door until I left. They were so wonderful that when I got my puppy Kipp this summer, I knew where he was going!  Kipp loves going to the vet. He's meet the entire staff. They made his first few visit so great. If I could give them 10 stars I would!  They are simply the best animal hospital around.Everyone from reception, to the vet techs, to the Dr's themselves are professional, extremely gentle with the animals, and really knowledgeable.I was referred to AAH from my brother - his dog recently had to undergo ACL repair surgery, and I had heard nothing but rave reviews.  My dog tore her ACL shortly after (nice coincidence!), and so we scheduled surgery with the same surgeon at AAH.  The surgeon himself did not work for the hospital, but the hospital staff did all pre- and postoperative care.They treated my dog (Ruby) as their own - giving me updates, information, and comfort.  Ruby healed amazingly well after the surgery, and I can definitely say that they had a role in it.I was just in last week for Ruby's annual shots and wellness visit.  They let me know exactly what they recommended, and how much it would cost BEFORE they went through with anything.  Though I would always pay my last dime to make sure my dog is taken care of, I really appreciate how they are up front.  The icing that topped off my cake though, for this visit, was the fact that they had some of Ruby's joint supplements in as complementary samples, and gave me some, saving me quite a pretty penny.Thank you for everything you do, AAH!  Ruby will be a repeat customer :) Read Less

I came here for the first time today and i was very impressed with there knowledge, friendliness and and how much they cared about my pet. They best thing is beacuse i am a new costumer i got 50% off !!!! They charge a little less than most places but the discount hooked me. I live about 45 minuets away but it is worth the drive to come here. This is now my primary vet. They treated my pet very gentle and sweet . The best part is my pet is a rat they see some exotics. I love love love this animal hospital.  I brought in my poor blocked kitty to see Dr. V.  She is so attentive and caring, and I knew he was in the absolute best hands!  It's comforting to know that you have someone who cares almost as much about your pets as you do.  The rest of the staff is kind and caring.  It's obvious that they love what they do.  I know my pets are in good hands from the moment we walk in the door, to the minute we leave. Lots of treats and hugs make my pets feel good about going in too.  It's nice when your pets don't put on the brakes and have to be dragged in the door.  I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a great vet experience! This is the best vet hospital I have ever been too. I have dogs since I was 5 yrs old and have never received the care and love that my dogs receive here. Dr. V is just awesome. My dogs love her. The outpouring of her love of animals is just so obivious and heart warming. One of my dogs is 90% blind, and when she hears her voice she runs right to her. I have never been to a vet that actually gets down on the floor with my dogs. Her compassion knows no bounds. Her knowledge is vast and I could just sit and talk with her for hours. She doesn't request any tests that are not absolutely necessary - which saves $$. She even called me herself to give me the results of the latest blood work for one of my dogs, I have never, ever had a vet do that. Our family just loves her. The staff is also the greatest. The receptionist is always smiling and cheerful and calls my dogs by name. The techs are the best. They are so caring and take such good care of my dogs. Everything is always explained so clearly, and they make sure you understand. Anyone who is looking for an outstanding vet as well as an outstanding staff..must come to Advanced Animal Hospital. I take all 5 of my pets here (dogs and cats) and can't imagine taking them anywhere else. The entire staff is knowledgeable and very obviously love their jobs. They care about each one of my pets, giving lots of love (and more than a few treats) to each one. They practice good medicine, and believe in what they are doing. Each pet had a risk assessment done, so they aren't getting vaccines they don't need. They are honest and don't just try to upsell to take your money. The doctors know their stuff, and take their time with exams and appointments, so you know you're getting their personal attention. The technicians are willing to go over every and anything and answer all my questions. They want what's best for my babies, and want to help me give it to them in any way they can. The receptionists are friendly and efficient in cashing me out and making appointments. The hospital is clean and always smells good when I walk in the door. They even give tours so that you can see every room of the hospital, so you know they have nothing to hide! I simply can't say enough good things about this place. I visted there and they drew blood from my cat and I was very dissatisfied with their customer service. Not only did I have to wait unil the next day to obtain the results, they decided to wait 24 hrs to tell me the testing lab vendor apparently failed in their process of correctly running the results, they said the only recourse I have is to bring my animal back in the office for his blood to be drawn again!!! Also w/ my cat sick in waiting room and they said they had to send the work out and asked why they could not provide results the same day the vet indicated that they could do that yet they had to run more panels yet they had to poke him again to get another sample. EVER GO THERE!! They should have been upfront and told me results would be next day and I would have went somewhere else and saved my animal,and my pocketbook and time!! Additionally, they are refusing a refund!!! They are dishonest and ineffictive dont put your aimal in thier hands. Read Less
